I'd have called up Theo. He's got pace!

Huddersfield seem to be going about their business quietly. Bought Arfield and have recently added Joey Gudjonsson. A bit of experience to their team. I think they will be pretty consistent around the top of the table. However Swindon have lost Paynter to Leeds. Not easy to replace a 20+ striker, hopefully they'll lose Austin too.

Can understand dropping Walcott after the initial shock but IMO he can have good games against the better opposition. However Capello was going by form I don't understand how SWP gets in before Johnson. Madness. I think Capello (and a lot of the media) have gone with the ol' tried and trusted Heskey upfront as he acts like a 'terrific' battering ram, dragging defenders away from Rooney and the on rushing Lampard/Gerrard. However I think the likes of Holland/Brazil/Spain etc will just leave Heskey to it as he never scores! QFs' if we're lucky.

Hmm, anyone looked at the cashflow forecast? Seems like they have some good players on their books if they are going to sell £8m worth in August 2011. Jeez, looked at their charge out rates. They are making a mint there!

Agreed - I think most of us know this ain't happening.

You had to ruin the dream didn't you! :smt089

Not sure I think with the players he has he may get them playing good football rather than what he has Inter doing at the moment. I'm sure in his first season with Chelsea he used Robben and Duff to great effect down the wings and played some good stuff. The following season he seemed to go all defensive maybe thinking that he needed to adjust? Anyone see it like that?

England and penalties. Here we go again.
Johnny Shearer replied to Dark Munster's topic in General Sports
I'm sure Johnny Wilkinson doesn't bother practising conversion kicks as he knows he can handle the pressure on him converting the kick................ Pressure is just one element of taking the penalty. -
England and penalties. Here we go again.

Yes falling over isn't down to not practising but one of those things. Also if you happen to blast into the top right corner and the keep saves, then yes its down to the keeper pulling off a great save. However how do explain scruffed shots, shots which go over or wide of the post? Obviously those people didnt practise their shooting. -

Johnny Shearer replied to Dark Munster's topic in General Sports
I don't know how people can say penalties will be always be a lottery. If you practice smashing the ball into the top right/left corner for an hour, day on day. Surely you'd know come the day what you are gonna do and where you'll place it with the right technique into the top corner with little or remote chance of the keeper saving it surely? -
Although the end was touching and resonates well it was a cop out as SFT3 demonstrated with his outstanding quesitons. Maybe there was more to it or it should have ended earlier, leaving a shedload of questions. Next show on my list is Dexter - that can keep going for as it likes as long as the seasons are as good as they have been.

Ex-Saints and the perils of unexpected success
Johnny Shearer replied to RonManager's topic in The Saints
I think they'll do better than Derby. -
As i feared where one company starts others will follow. THQ will introduce this for their next UFC game - although this may only be in the US. Sony are thinking/planning on doing this for their recently released racing game - Modnation. The sad thing is that people will actually pay for multiplayer online rather than take a stance against it.

New Kit - A 'Sign' of things to come.
Johnny Shearer replied to Cestrian Saint's topic in The Saints
I wish Saints would bloody hurry up and get the new kit out or release images of it. Cant wait any longer! -
That must another one of those random quotes surely. As I eat sensibly but still dont shift the fat - hence the exercise!

I would take the the more cynical view that the extra fees generated would be going to the shareholders rather than back into developing the games. I can accept that offering DLC for a fee going to be the norm as it at least gives people the option to buy extra content. EA are effectively trying to cut off the secondhand market. If this starts off in the US as a fee of $10, it'll most likely translate as £10 over here. Who would bother with buying a game for £10 only to have to pay another £10 when they want to play against someone online? Also it may result in people waiting until games are reduced to buy it originally, therefore initial sales would be down for the companyand developers get even less as a result. No other industry charges you to pay for something in addition to the secondhand cost, so why should gaming be different?
-
Anyone else read about EA's moves into the secondhand market. Whereby they intend to charge people who want to play multiplayer on line a one-off fee if they have bought their game secondhand. At the moment I believe they're going to do this with the Tiger Woods games. I hope it fails. And I can understand if the money went to the developers but I can't see that happening or if any did it would be minimal in my opinion.

Ha yeah I know, thats why I'm starting a regime of sorts from June. Running on the Monday and Tuesday, football on the Weds and Thurs. Rest on Friday with the gym for weights on saturday. Getting in another rest on the sunday. Cant run for toffee, thats why I'm begin training so early! 10k is my limit, at least the Great South Run is relatively flat compared to the Great North Run right?!

I've signed up to the Cancer Research 10k run around the Common in October, my aim is to lose a stone and a half - two stone by then and be a lot fitter. However I have been doing the 100 push up challenge and cant get past the 42/43 mark but have been doing over 2 months now. You do get great definition on the shoulders, upper arms and upper chest I've found.

You mean the black cloud? Yes you do find out. Some questions have been answered but tonnes still remain.

So its still 0-0, not quite the beating many people were saying it would be. Still there's time left for that.......
-
Sounds like there is a chance then! Will give it a go, would love it if someone does win it though as i'm sure the promoters think it'll never happen.

I am available - I should qualify being an accountant soon and have several years of experience in a number of businesses. Now to email Mr Cortese!

Yep this is better - keep the 1885/2010 on each side BUT I would have had 125 in silver faded writing on the white background multiple times.

Can't just blame it on the students. There are a lot of 'colleges' around which allow students to attend their courses - all for big course fees upfront. Agents and colleges are working in tandem, taking the student's money and they then being left on their own and out of pocket. However didnt Labour change the ruels regarding students coming over from overseas and essentially make it easier?
