Football fans always remember what matches they were at on days like that. You're right, we won 2-1 at West Ham. It was my first away match when travelling by car with my mates I also remember being at The Dell on the day of the Bradford fire. I think we won that 2-1 as well
-
If we play 4-4-2 there needs to be 2 changes Schneiderlin needs to be dropped, he has no idea how to protect the back 4 Lallana needs to play as the 2nd striker, because he goes AWOL when being asked to play left midfield in a rigid formation
-
My first away match was late August 1985 We had just moved to Huntingdon & Saints were away to Ipswich, so a fairly short trip We drew 1-1
-
Like Schneiderlin, I think Lallana is a far better player in 4-5-1 This way he can cut inside and join Lambert up front, and when we are defending he has 3 central midfielders to cover him if he gets caught out of position In a 4-4-2 he has to be more disciplined as a left midfielder & this clearly doesn't suit him. I thought he showed nice touches on the ball, but had a very poor game because he left Harding in masses of trouble at times
-
I said this all last season & I'll definitely say it again today............. Morgan is too lazy to play in 4-4-2 He's much better when he's got two other central midfielders like Hammond and Wotton working hard to break up play In a 4-4-2 he leaves the central defenders too exposed

The Official "I'm going to Hartlepool on a Tuesday" thread

Everybody in Germany seems shocked That's because depression/grief is one of the most severe & debilitating illnesses anyone can have. On the outside people think your fine, but on the inside you're being gripped by a condition that makes you feel very lonely & isolated. Often they will detach themselves from loved ones or professionals that can offer help, and sometimes their train of thought lacks rationality. 5 years ago I was diagnosed with bipolar, so I'm aware of how the occasional bad day can engulf you with illogical thoughts When I hear people say suicide is selfish, they have no idea how destructive mental illness can be, and have no idea how it can make genuine, warm people do crazy things
-
I have no idea how easy or difficult it is to get ex-pros to devout one evening to playing a benefit match Bearing in mind his most famous goal was the equaliser at Wembley v Forest, we could try & get the two teams from that day meeting again at SMS? Just a thought, probably impossible logistically Nonetheless, terrible news

I always got the impression Whiteley had a strong mix of Saints & Pompey fans. If you go 1 junction west to J8, you'll find it's Saints territory & 1 juntion east to J10 is Pompey
-
Some people do take the rivalry to some extreme levels I know 4 Saints supporters who refuse to have a Facebook account because it puts their default location down as Portsmouth
-
I think it's a tad harsh making disparaging comments about our new owners regarding such matters. I'm 40 in June & had never heard of David Burnside, so I don't expect 2 swiss blokes to have done either
-
It's a shame We will end up in a world where nothing can be discussed Somebody is always offended by something, life will become very boring
-
Where the heck was Bobby Stokes? Made 216 appearances, scoring 40 goals - including the most famous Saints goal ever!
-
In 2006 when Kelvin Davis was getting serious abuse from every corner, who would have thought 3 years later he'd appear in a list of top 50 Saints of all time

Pardew is renowned for watching lots of games, building a strong knowledge of teams, formations and players He may not have been actually scouting anybody Don't forget, Pards admits himself that Antonio was a player he was impressed with when watching Reading's reserves
-
In all fairness, his chances of 1st team action are pretty slim with Papa & McLaggon. That's not even considering Antonio possibly staying longer
-
We were 28/1 after losing to Bristol Rovers
-
This is the 29th season of 3pts for a win The average points won for 1st, 2nd & 6th in League 1 are - Champions - 91.42 Runners Up - 85.75 6th Place - 74.5 So, we probably need 64pts from our remaining 32 games to reach the play-offs, and 75 to gain automatic promotion
-
I think a good indication will be the Bristol Rovers FA Cup tie. If Preston won't let him play, they are obviously expecting him back at Deepdale for January. If he plays, he's clearly not in their plans
-
Pards has been brilliant in keeping Lallana as much as finding new talent Pards "Adam, why go and and sit in another team's reserves when you can win something here" Poortvliet "Adam...........aaaaaagggghhh when I see the satdium I almost burst into tears" It just shows what can be achieved when you hire a proper manager
-
Really impressed with Dan Harding again Defensively he's solid, but coming forward his crosses are mustard
-
I think the deal is only for a month, so we'll be losing him soon
-
Having watched the show, I'd be feeling a little uneasy if I was a Lib Dem voter I thought they were shown to be pretty toothless when it comes to serious debate. Everyone knows that only the Tories can stop Labour winning another term, Lib Dems will probably lose key seats, as tactical voters return to the Conservatives However, the growing army of BNP supporters will start putting pressure on the Lib Dem % share As much as it saddens me, the BNP are here to stay We are looking at the UK's 4th major political party
-
It's a shame the BNP shoot themselves in the feet with their blatant racism Having strong opinions on immigration doesn't make somebody racist, and the BNP's rise has coincided with the major parties being out of touch with a growing number of voters on this subject
