"Play Up Pompey" doesn't really make grammatical sense does it? Why has nobody ever mentioned this before? There's a good reason why no ther team in the country/world has adopted it to suit their own chant. "Play Up Reading, Reading Play Up", "Play Up City, City Play Up" or "Play Up Wigan, Wigan Play Up" all fit into the tune just as well, but they choose not to sing it. Just seems strange, that considering it's so well known, at least 1 other team hasn't adopted it (in the way that most teams sing a variation of OWTSGMI or 'And it's all Southampton(/whatever other team) etc.).

A really sad day, and a thread which would probably be beytter suited to the main board. I think it's probably come as a bit of a shock to everyone. While there was obviously a lot of controversy while he was with Saints (which lets not forget was a complete farce, and should never have gone as far as it did), he was a good manager. Guiding Wolves to promotion and Cardiff to an FA cup final is no mean feat, which he deserves a lot of credit for. RIP Dave Jones.

Liverpool paid £35m for Carroll. Saints paid ~£1m for Lambert. 35/1=35. Therefore in monetary terms, Carroll is worth 35 times more than Lambert. But Lambert is a better player.
