  1. We've now got a decent spine to the team which we've been lacking. Decent keeper, more solid at CB, PEH and Romeu strong in the middle of the park and Ings and Redmond up top. Great performance today. Redmond, JWP, PEH and Romeu especially along with the two Jan's. The next three games will give us some great chances to continue pushing up the table.
  2. I see what you did there.
  3. More like Jan Poortvliet
  4. I’d like to see an Ely vs Austin 10m race. It would be a super slo-mo but in real-time.
  5. That he can’t make a save or a header whilst sitting on the bench?
  6. Not a lot. Unfortunately.
  7. Stephens hasn’t had a lot of defending to do tonight but he’s been superb in bringing the ball out and setting up play.
  8. Now that would be funny.
  9. Danny Murphy absolutely gutted.
  10. He’s not bought into the high intensity pressing tonight. Just wandering around.
  11. Hoedt
  12. Buy-in to Ralph's philosophy or leave is pretty much what we're seeing. Hoedt, Gabby, Cedric.
  13. I’d be surprised if they can get a better manager than Wagner but maybe a fresh face is what they need. I don’t think even Ralph could keep them up.
  14. My view is the same as when we had VvD and Toby. They're all way beyond our position and status so just enjoy their contribution while they are here and accept they will move on at some point. What a breath of fresh air Ralph has been. He's single-handedly lifted the cloud from SFC.
  15. He was the bookies favourite to be the next Prem manager to get the boot before today’s game. This won’t have helped his cause. Awesome result. What a man Ralph is. Stuff of legends even at this early stage.
  16. I had it in my mind that Ralph would have a couple of signings up his sleeve from his previous dealings. In the same way that Koeman, Puel and Pellegrino did. Maybe that might still be the case, I guess we'll know in the next couple of weeks.
  17. So Ralph has said he know's who is going to be his number 1 keeper. Was coy when pushed but I guess we'll find out soon enough.....
  18. I can only think it’s his attitude that is the problem. He must really have got up Ralph’s nose not to be given a chance.
  19. Hammy twinge.
  20. Do you mean Les? This was / is our strategy. BTW not sure anyone is mentioning 'world class players' but players who can be acquired relatively cheaply, do a good job for the club for a couple of seasons then move on for significantly higher value and repeat. Supplemented by developing youth and the occasional 'exception' such as Pelle. In the absence of a middle-eastern or similar beneficiary there aren't so many other options if you want to stay in the Premier League.
  21. Or we buy somewhat off-the-radar / unproven younger players with potential. You know, the ‘Southampton way / model’ which we’ve been following successfully until the last couple of years when the black box caught a virus.
  22. He’s seemingly been on the cusp of the sack several times over the last 12 months but normally digs out a couple of job-saving results. That’s the mark of a World class manager.
