Fair play to Pards stroke of genius to sign Connolly if he stays fit he will get bucket loads of goals I agree he & Lambert must be the most potent strike force in the division and I think they would still do well for us in the CCC. You have to handed to Pards I dont think he has got a signing wrong everyone he has brought in has enhanced the team & made a contribution hope we can sign Antonio & Trotters in Jan that would be ace

Score when it's Raining/ We're the Dry Side.
West End Saint replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
Dry side all the way just to the left of the goal at the back funny chants great atmosphere 2nd half fair play to the wet side you tight b@stards £2.50 for a roof £2.50 for a roof. la la la la la david connoly -
Connoly was class so was Lallana Lambert worked his socks off unlucky with the free kick Antonio is a threat showed great composurer for his goal. 1st half was dire we didnt play well would be happy if we play 4 5 1 then change to 4 4 2 when required but Connoly has posed a problem for AP now deserves a start my only concern is if you start 4 4 2 what do you change it to when chasing a game. Enjoyed the game great second half performance from fans & team Were the dry side were the dry side were the dry side over here

The Coach & Horses at Orient was the best pub so far for me this season good range of beers good service dart board for a couple of games of round the clock no food but happy for us to bring some in from a blinding kebab shop up the road good pub great away day

I have to say I tip my hat to the hardcore that do every away game it is a big commitment & fair play to you. There are a lot of people myself included that cant due to work get to every away game I guess the last 4 seasons I average about 10/12 a season and always go to London games as it easy travel & a good day out. I think you are right there are always games that prove more popular Reading last season is an example but any kind of increase on away support is good as people get the bug for it & some become hardcore. I have been impressed with our support home & away this season the I hope we keep winning & more & more people get the bug to follow the Saints all over the country.

He never sleeps the night before a away game to excited like a kid at xmas bless him

It is not just the winning team that are causing the feelgood factor we are now totaly DEBT FREE how many clubs can say that. The club is being run by people with a long term plan for success if we hit a bad run so what these people have the ability & desire to put it right. We are not being run for the benefit of a plc but for the people of Southampton Marcus will only profit from us when we have achieved success. How good is all that & we have a manager that knows what he is doing & a team with ability to do well in this league & the next. I love being a Saint COYR

Realistic expectations have replaced...
West End Saint replied to Guided Missile's topic in The Saints
I am more than happy just to have our club back we are DEBT FREE have a great squad playing good football & winning games I couldnt be much happier. I am really enjoying going to watch my team what better present could you get cant wait for Saturday. -
I like your optimism but I have been supporting Saints way to long to take anything for granted. As long as we play rhe way we have with the commitment & dertimination I feel we will win. I really hope we get the kind of performance & result that 3000 + traveling Saints deserve COYS lets have it

Get in I am going now my Dad went and queued up for me at 6.30 6th in line & got my ticket bless him I am really looking forward to this 1 gonna be a good day out hope we can continue the run could be out of relegation places if we win COYR.

I have said on a couple of other threads that if we only make 1 signing in Jan please let it be Trotters this lad has a future centre back is a position you get better at as you get older even if we paid a million for him I think we could still end up making money sign him up A P

There are bound to be some hic-ups along the way cant expect to win every game but we have got a football team that is going to win more than lose AP & his team have made real progress so impressed with his signings we are defo going in the right direction & whilst I wont rule out making the play offs this season I feel confident of promotion next but how good is it to be watching a completely debt free well run decent football team really enjoying my football at the moment keep up the good work Saints
-
I agree think his signings have been 1st class Lambert stands out because of his goals but I think he has been spot on with the players brought in & they are on wages that reward them playing not sat on there arse warming the bench.

Fantastic effort over 3000 away fans been really impressed with our away support this season even in the dark days of last season there were some great turnouts in numbers & vocal support Reading Watford & Forest were all excellent to name a few this season looks like being even better with the feel good factor coming back. Dont underestimate the belief & help to the team fantastic support like our's brings, just finished Le Tiss book and in it he mentions Dellhurst Park & Derby for the play off semi the club & the team take notice & apprieciate the effort the fans are making AP has made mention of it a few times and if we keep getting wins & good performances that support will continue to grow. A lot of people are proud once again to be a Saint I say to the team & the fans keep up the good work. UTS

Murty was playing very well before he got injured he was also marshalling the defence and was a leadre on the pitch for me if he is fit he should be in the team. I like James and thought last season he was our most improved player but right back is not his position he can do a job there but Murty is a very decent right back. Lloyd can play better in other positions he had a couple of good games at centre mid but I thinke he would be best right midfield he will be an important player for us this season as he can cover a number of positions and always does a job. I think getting Murty back in the team will improve us so when he is fit lets have him back.

Rickie Lambert - most expensive 3rd tier player of all time?
West End Saint replied to SaintBobby's topic in The Saints
I dont care how much he was money well spent a proper centre forward and decent player we have been crying out for a player like him if he stays fit he will get 20 + goals well worth his money -
If we only sign 1 player in Jan I will be very happy if it is Trotters I think he has been class and has been getting better since playing along side Jaidi. He is young for a centre back and will only get better if he continues the way he is going so he would be a good investment for us. Marcus sign him up Marcus Marcus sign him up

Saga has had chances to impress & not delivered this season if he can get the attitude & form back he showe when he 1st arrived he will be valuable member of the squad particularly if we pick up some injuries. If he cant get himself right move him on I would like to think he can sort himself out and prove his worth he owes us some goals and good performances it is upto him he wont get a new contract or a new club not getting a game in league 1 so pull your socks up Saga lets be having you
-
Very true what a hole they didnt have any ice no Cider ran out of some Larger had a p1ss poor attitude the worst pub I have ever been in on away footy and I have been in some sh1tholes. very glad we got w@nkered on the way as it took a age to get served no chance of having too many in that pit. Still a top away day & a ground ticked off the list
-
I think you are right AP will stick to the same team as Southend & to be fair to Wotton he had a good game got stuck in & away from home is probably what you need (though he has the passing ability of a Donkey with 4 left feet). If everybody is fit & available he wont change a winning team nor should he the boys that played are worth there shirt more of the same please UTS
-
I think this will be tricky I fancy us to nick it 1 0 Lambert to score would be very good news if we can extend the run & take confidence into the M K Dons game would love to see us out of relegation spots by xmas COYR

Where do you expect Saints to finish this season?
West End Saint replied to Pancake's topic in The Saints
I have thought all along we would finish mid table I see no reason to change my mind. We have no devine right to win every game I think we now have a squad to compete in this league & think we will win more than we lose but this season has always been about building for next season. There are some big clubs in this league this season I hope the likes of Leeds Charlton & Norwich get promoted as it will give us a better chance next season. We have to face facts that we were on - 10 with no pre season & started the campaign with a squad that wasnt good enough & we didnt have a very good start. We now have a team that can do really well in this league & in the CCC when we get promoted I can see AP getting 1 or 2 quality signings in Jan & a couple more in the summer with a view to push on. We have good owners a good manager good team & fantastic fans I just hope we can remain patient there are bound to be a few blips along the way 3 wins dont make us the best team in the league just as a couple of defeats dont make us the worst but we are on the right road to better times. -
Both players have skill & ability way above the standard they are playing in I have always thought Morgan is proper player his passing is 1st class & I have always thought that Lallana is a gifted very skillfull player. In the past I have been critical of Lallana for being ineffective but fair play to both players & to AP for getting the end product from them long may it continue. At Southend both had very good games particularly Lallana second half in really bad conditions he got the ball held onto it and caused all sorts of problems for Southend he was my MOM. We have got a good team and the players around these two are now of a much better standard than we had this is helping them make the most of there talents again AP deserves a lot of credit for the players brought in.
