Hartlepool 0 - 0 Saints - Post Match Reaction Thread

Actually, we are on 2 points a game this year which is promotion form. If we carry on in that way I have worked out we'll get over 80 points which this year should give us second spot. On tonights results it's a point gained. -
Not enough of us on the Forum. Totally agree.. Just worked out that if NA had been in charge from the beginning of the season, on his record so far, we would be in the top 2.. No question, so give the poor bloke a chance.. My god.. The only thing that I was dissappointed at was that we gave them too much space and that was because we had Guly, Barnard and Rickie on.. Made it too open for me.. It's as simple as that!!!
-
I would have taken 4 points from the last 2 games and remember we are still on over 2 points per game under NA.. If we don't win next week then I will start worrying. The game was even tonight and a draw was a fair result. It could be worse you could be an Arsenal fan or even a Man U fan tonight..
-
Forgetting about the other results, if we continue to average 2 points a game between now and the end of the season we will have a great chance of making automatic promotion based on previous seasons and in the last 8 games we have achieved that. That's what the manager and the team should be focusing on.. It's as simple as that.

I was at the game and felt that the Back Four looked solid and I think Seaborne being left footed gives us something extra at the back. The subs came on and did well. We now have cover for Puncheon, in fact I would play Lee Holmes ahead of him at the moment. In terms of strikers we should be patient. Rickie and Barnard looked up for it yesterday. That's the best I've felt after a 0-0 for a long time. Could see the "Green shoots of Recovery".

Who knows. He may have been told he was not first choice. Whatever we say it's all speculation and Chairmen are very full of themselves so will always pander to the Fans and Media. All the quotes notice are coming from Chairmen not managers..
-
Just remember where the News comes from. It's always the Chairmen of the clubs involved never the candidate. Of course they would say what they do. They have big egos so I am not surprised. If Howe did not want the job he would have not bothered with the interview. We probably turned him down and his Chairman would not admit it.

Having a Manager who can manage in the Premiership is no good for us.. We need someone who understands this league and can get us out of it.. Adkins has operated in this league and also the Championship so I would be happy with that. When the time comes to manage in the Premiership which is likely to be 3 years from now at best then we can assess the situation then. Adkins could be our Physio in the Premiership anyway.

What an honest and unassuming gentleman. He always stayed in the Background and allowed those in the know to get on with their jobs. A model owner in my view. I only hope that Saints fulfil his wishes of getting back in to the Premiership. No better tribute to the man. Marcus Liebherr RIP!

We lose Papa Waigo and Antonio, get rid of a load of crap and buy players with proven experience in key positions. To me that makes sense when you see that Lee Holmes seems to be getting back to full fitness, Oxl;ey-Chamberlain could be a future star. So in my view I think it's about right even though I'd be happy to see another good signing. Who isn't.

NC did also state that people are entitled to their opinions but he is focused on doing what is best for the club. That I think says it all. We know how the media can turn rumour in to fact by just unsettling people. NC clearly recognises that and is I think very smart at the way he is managing the media machine.

By next Tuesday we could be only 2 Points behind Hudersfield with 3 games left. That is very possible..
-
Exactly how I feel. People just use the stats to prove a point and forget the context. The context this season has been far different from the past so it is absolute b****ks to compare this season with any in the past. If we are in this position this time next season then I think Pardew would have resigned or probably pushed and he knows that better than anyone.

There's facts and there's reasons in my opinion. Most of the teams above us had well established teams going in to January and were able to maintain their momentum. It was clear to AP that he needed at least 4/5 more players to give us a chance. Consequently we changed pretty well half the first team over night. We now have them well established and capable of going on that run we talk about. Let's see where we are at the end of the season. People use stats. to prove anything.
-
People forget we went to Norwich and outplayed them 2-0. Short memories on this Forum.
-
Let's not forget we played 4-5-1 at Wembley so those who think that's negative think again. With Antonio and Lallana in the side we have players who can join the loan striker when attacking. If we had 5 Dean Hammonds in midfield then I would agree. We have played 4-4-2 away and remember Tranmere. So I don't buy that. I still look at the other fixtures and there are some tough games for those above us. If we win our next 2 home games then I think the Playoffs are back on. Simples!! I agree that the players and management have to talk up the Playoffs otherwise we might just as well pack up for the season.
-
Maybe it's time to start using the BBC Website Predictor. Just run through it and it puts us 2 points behind a playoff spot but with still one to play. They've not included a fixture yet to be re-arranged. So it's possible.. Noticed that there are a lot of top teams playing each other so who knows. Being over-optimistic I guess but shows that with a good run we can make it..
-
You don't mind losing to a team like that but you hate losing to their fans. What a bunch of mindless imbeciles. While walking towards St. Marys I turned and saw about a 1000 Pompey fans charging the police. It's a shame to see and I have to give all the players credit for making it pretty trouble free on the pitch. They will have bragging rights for a few days and then we can move on.
-
So should Leeds be able to beat Exeter but they didn't. Yes, that is football. C'mon.. We are second in the Form Table behind Norwich during a spell when we have completely changed the back four AND we have played 2 more away games than home whereas others sitting in the top 6 have played more at home or at least the same. If we keep up current form we will get another 42 points. Playoffs if that happens.
-
Nobody really knows what the plans were. NC may have been asked to stabilise the club and get it moving forwards which he has.. Job done and he's ready to move on? We bring in another more football oriented CEO to implement the plan..
-
Looking at the obvious anticipation for this match we should hope that Pompey do recover from their current financial difficulties. In that last year we have both suffered and it's great to be thinking about the game and not Pompey's potential demise. We were there once don't forget. It's great for the area that both clubs are successful. Without that this fixture may dissappear. That would be a shame. Let's leave the mindless minority to their abuse..

Best game of the season for me. Either team could have won it at the end. Even when they equallised I still felt we could score. Not something that would have happened last season. Pleased to see Murty come on. Lloyd James is not a right back. Every time their wide man was one on one with him I worried. He may be the difference. We know that we can score goals we just need to sort out the defence and I think we will go on another good run.
-
On current form we will make the playoffs.. With 13 points out of the last 18 we have collected over 2 points per game which would take us in to the playoffs based on the last two years. Not impossible..
-
I thought there was a time in the first half where up front we were unplayable. Some great interplay for the 3rd Goal and Lamberts opener was a cool finish. Four goals from open play. Can't be bad.

Get off peoples' back Alpine.. I for one have been supporting SFC since 1955 (yes 50+ Years). I've seen a lot of ups and downs in that time and every time we lose it hurts (you ask my wife). Those fans are the ones that really care about the club and would support Saints come what may. I'll be going again on Saturday. Will you?
