  1. WBA did keep Arsenal out for 85 minutes. Let us not forget.
  2. Let's get a perspective here. Last season we had 24 pts after 19 Games a very similar pts per game as now wouldn't you say.
  3. As a few have suggested. Of course gutted that we lost but if you had given me a win over Inter Milan, Last 8 of the EFL Cup and top half of the table after a gruelling schedule, and with a new manager, I would have taken it.
  4. I remember last season when we were a couple of bad results away from a relegation battle and people were calling for RK to be sacked. Short memories some of us.
  5. Happy with the acquisitions and feel that perhaps the balance is right in that bringing in too many signings will unsettle the squad. You cannot keep too many top quality players happy sitting on the bench unless of course you are Man U and can pay them £150K per week to do so.
  6. Here we go Dalek always wanting to exterminate any sensible comment!
  7. Spot on in my view. Was at the game and came away with similar positives. Occasionally we were caught on the ball but in general when we were on top was when we moved the ball quickly. Fraser was hardly troubled and we had more shots on target than usual. I think we do miss Ryan Bertrand though.
  8. I remember when MP arrived ha had been sacked by Espanyol after a disastrous sequence and now look. I trust our board who did take their time when RK had left. No panic. It also sounds like we turned down Pellegrini so that probably means we knew what we were doing.
  9. Most likely reason to me as to why this has happened is that SFC were treating RK like any player who only has a year to run on his contract. As we know it was being discussed that we were negotiating an extension on the basis that if none were signed then we should let RK go. Not good for us knowing that he was seeing out his contract and no more. New agent comes in and starts destabilizing negotiations further and looking at the options. Just a theory.
  10. I can bet you that the SFC board will have put in a contingency plan on the basis that RK may not extend his contract which many thought highly likely. What we all thought though was that he would be true to his word and see his contract out but as with players having a manager knowingly seeing out the final year of a contract is not healthy so I would bet that SFC would have planned for it. List already drafted and we are implementing the next phase of the plan.
  11. I heard comments on Talksport that seemed to imply that RK felt we had reached our ceiling. What? Not that long ago he was saying that Leicester had now broken the stranglehold on the top four and that anything was possible. OK. Next thing we need to remind the so called experts that Southampton are probably unique in that over the last 7 years we have improved our league position every year. A major achievement having had 4 managers, sold 7 key players and lost a Chairman. I don't think there will be any panic at SFC and we will continue our progression. Let's bring in Emery and go for the Europa League and win it and end up in the Champions League. I am fed up with being talked down to by the MEDIA. Time to move on..
  12. If you look at RK's WIKI page it shows that several of his Managerial jobs were not all that successful. So, we shall see how he does at a club where the expectations will be far higher now with the new ownership and with the demanding fan base.
  13. According to Clubcall only an hour ago, Saints have refused permission for Everton to talk to RK. Don't know what to believe. If that is true then they would only do that if they felt comfortable with RK staying on otherwise it doesn't make sense.
  14. This is becoming more like the EU Referendum debate by the minute.
  15. The fact that MP and RK have been so succesful at Saints should be credited as much to the club structure and culture as their own ability. Yes they are good managers BUT working within a good system and strategy. I remember when the likes of Bob Paisley etc. emerged from the ranks of the back room at Liverpo0l people wondered what they were doing. Nobody outside of the club had heard of them. BUT what they had was a strong culture and philosophy that penetrated everything at the club such that people could come in at any level and just integrate with little disruption. We should give SFC some credit..
  16. If he does go then he will be as mercenary as MP. This constant "I have a year left on my contract" stuff clearly means nothing. However, there are some very credible candidates on the market at the moment so who knows. We may get Pellegrini. It's a risk going to Everton where all of a sudden the expectations have shot up. Could easily backfire. I am hoping that RK is more honorable than we are implying here. OR maybe Saints ambitions are not as high as we would like them to be.
  17. And don't forget Fraser Foster to Manchester United
  18. It seems that in every game now the discussion always includes refereeing decisions. Why not go for a system like Tennis and Cricket have where each team is allowed say 1 appeal/referral in each half. That would hardly slow the game down and teams would be very careful not to waste a call unless absolutely sure.
  19. In the second half Leicester played like we did when we were down to 10 men against WHU. Put men behind the ball and tried to hit us on the break. It's never easy to break down and we lacked that bit of quality today to make something happen in the box. I think TADIC is lightweight and Pelle is better with Long beside him.
  20. We have too many players slightly down on their game. Pelle, Mane, Tadic, JWP to name but a few. We missed Clasie tonight. Why didn't he come on?
  21. What a bunch of miserable buggers on this forum. When we were going through our good run everything was rosy. We lost to Chelsea and Bournemouth, who to be fair, were up for it tonight and we all go mental. Tactics were wrong not the players. Sometimes the manager gets it wrong and in this case he did. 10 games left and another good run could be ready to start on Saturday.
  22. We can only improve in the 2nd half. It was obvious that Bournemouth would have that high energy. We need to break it down better in midfield and then move it from there. Letting them boss the midfield. In games like this we need VW and Romeu to be playing.
  23. I'm with you. In my 60 years of supporting Saints I have experienced the extreme highs and lows of their Journey up and down the leagues. Yes, we have some challenges at the moment but I saw a team against Arsenal that was clearly capable of achieving success. I believe that we are not far away. Take our GD. It is far superior than anyone else around and about us and that reflects that when we do lose we are not getting hammered or outplayed. Fine lines. We, the fans have a responsibility to help turn our fortunes around. We are just as much a part of the club as RK and the rest. We keep going on about players attitudes. Well, our attitude is also an important factor. I am going to support my heart out for the rest of the season and help take us up the table.
  24. Two away games that we could have won and lost both. We are not scoring enough from midfield. Against Arsenal even the two non-strikers who scored were both defenders. Martina's was just a worldy and a one off and Fonte from a corner. There is no way we can succeed unless we start scoring from midfield. VW has lost it and should go in my view.
  25. I think we should take a deep breath and feel happy that we made it to 24 points half way through the season. There were a lot of crazy games today showing that when it comes to the Christmas fixtures it's a bit of a lottery. I would have taken 3 points from Arsenal and WHAM before we started and so would most of the people here. Move on..
