Anyone going up this afternoon? I'm taking my two oldest boys along for their first 'proper' cricket match. Just hope the weather holds out!

You also need to cycle a couple of foot from the kerb to give you a bit of protection from impatient ******s who can't wait for a small gap to overtake you and instead force you into the kerb, or worse.

Read the last paragraph again. Who was the player GM?

Spent less than a grand on ours, and it was bloody perfect. Wife has a massive family so a big sit down do was never going to happen. Service at registry office, meal and a few drinks for those at service in Georges (who really went out of their way for us), back to the hotel to 'cement' the marriage, then hired a big hall in the evening for whoever wanted to come. And pleased to say were still going strong 11 years and 4 kids later.

How does this work then? Bee trying for ages to get through on the helpline number, stay in a queue for 20+mins, then the phone gets cut off. So do a bit of trawling on 'tinterweb and find a freephone number. Give it a ring and lo and behold its answered almost immediately. First question the operator asks is where am I calling from. SOuthampton, I reply. I'm sorry she says, this line is a priority line for those calling from outside the UK, I cannot take your call, use the 0845 number! So how the hell do people living outside the UK qualify for something they don't pay into? And how come thay get better treatment than me, a UK taxpayer?:x:x
-
Why not? Could be good intelligence, although I'm a bit surprised at their lack of interest. I had a text sent to me by mistake about a drug deal a while ago, took my phone into the nick and they were extremely grateful.

This. If you are coaching yourself make it clear to parents straight away that the only coaching comes from you. Encouragement and support is fine and should be actively encouraged, but no telling the kids what to do. You will probably need to do a child protection course, if you haven't already, and get a CRB as has already been mentioned. THe clubs Child Protection Officer should be able to sort that for you.

Bet it wasn't missing any hubcaps ;-)

Apparently Ms Ferguson was most upset at her treatment...

Would love to know how many kids there are in Southampton called Matthew, compared to other cities. My oldests middle name is Matthew, would have been first name but the Mrs put her foot down.
-
Who said anything about getting leathered? Only wanted to know if you could take a few in, I do have some sense of parental responsibility. Thanks.

Planning taking the kids to one of the pro 40 games over the school hols. Anyone know if they still let take your own food and drink (read beer) in, or is it likely to get confiscated?

How much bad luck can one man get in the first week? Armstrong is finished, and already it looks like a two horse race betwen Schlek and Contador. Evans won't be able to hold those two in the big mountains, and Schlek can't time trial that well. Contador it is then, barring a disaster. Only remaining question is will Lance be happy to go out like that (on his arse) or will he find it in him to give it one more crack?
-
Ive been following one called @southamptonfc. I thought it was the official one as it always tweets news about an hour before its on the OS!
-
Looks like the cobbles did their bit. Big loss for Armstrong, even bigger for Frank Schlek. Superb ride by Contador, think they said that was his first time over the pave? Ride of the day though has to go to Geraint Thomas for riding himself into second place overall. Chapeau!
-
'Drive for show, putt for dough'. Smashing it for miles off the tee is all well and good but if you can't get it in the hole then you may as well stick to the driving range. Work on your short game relentlessly, the driving will come.

Great opener yesterday. Cancellara showing his class at TTing, and nice to see Millar up there. Thought Wiggins may have done better but i think he has trained with more climbing in mind this year so that could well have impacted his TT ability. Armstrong vs Contador, first blood to Lance. Will be very interesting to see how Contador copes with the cobbles in the first week, any problems and he could be playing serious cach up come the Alps.
-
Maybe it would be understandable if he was still playing for his boyhood team, but even then surely every players ambition would be to win the world cup?
-
My favourite sporting event of the year starts this weekend. Any predictions? Hard to see past another Contador victory, especially with the way the mountains stack up in the last week, although a few sectipons of pave early in the race could cause problems for anyone. Lance Armstrong has announced this will be his final Tour (again), what are the chances of a fairytale ending for him?
