  1. Also think it would be Bournemouth and Leeds. But would love to see Everton go down. Some of us are mentally scarred for life following Highbury 1984.
  2. couldn't quite get the bollocking but this is the half time talk i could get out of it... Alright, let's talk about the first half of the Southampton vs Leeds game. Firstly, well done on your performance so far, but we need to focus on a few things to maintain our momentum and secure the win. Defensively, we've been holding up well, but we can't afford to let our guard down. We need to be more alert and ensure that we don't give away any cheap fouls or penalties. Keep a close eye on the opposing team's attackers and try to cut off their passing lanes. Let's also maintain our high pressure on their midfielders and defenders to limit their opportunities. Offensively, we've been creating some good chances, but we need to be more clinical in front of goal. We need to take advantage of our opportunities and try to get an early goal in the second half. Let's keep the ball moving quickly and try to create more openings by making intelligent runs. Lastly, let's keep our composure and not get too carried away. We still have a whole half to play, and anything can happen. Stay focused, communicate with each other, and continue to work hard as a team. Keep up the good work, and let's finish strong!
  3. Just finished reading this. Really enjoyed it. As someone who sadly wasn’t old enough to witness Franny playing, it was incredibly enlightening. His experience of Cortese, all his fundraising and the work he has done since playing was equally, if not more, fascinating. A truly top bloke.
  4. It’s happening.
  5. I think my dad’s attitude was that acceptable clubs to support that weren’t Southampton were: Eastleigh Winchester City Basingstoke at a push
  6. If I was Solak I think that I would be clearing out the entire SR management team and starting again. Look to try and stabilise the club. Accept that this season is a write-off, and start planning for next season in the Championship.
  7. Could give Franny a go? At least they’d be fit if he got them to do all his crazy fundraising runs.
  8. Would go for big Sam. Would scare the shit out of the squad and get them organised.
  9. Appreciate Hughes didn’t last long but he was brought in to keep us up which he did (albeit just). I’m comparison to Jones, he did a far far better job.
  10. There's some competition for the worst. Pellegrino, Wigley and Jones all pretty terrible. But Jones is streets ahead as the most objectionable.
  11. I see that kwsaint jr would like a trip to Sheffield Wednesday next season. Think that he will get his wish. Personally I would like a trip to Ashton Gate.
  12. Just interested in where people want to go. For me, Sheffield Wednesday stands out if they get promoted.
  13. This.
  14. Branfoot's style of football was hoofball, but it did at least look like he had a style of playing and got the players to play it. Even if it was based on lumping the ball to Iain Dowie and hoping for knockdowns and preferring Paul Moody over MLT. It was truly dreadful to watch. I can't see a plan from Jones and the players seem completely confused. Which is even worse. For me we are as good as relegated. It's almost a case of planning for next season now. Working out which players will stay and getting a manager in now who can start to get them organised. At least give us a chance of coming straight back up. The alternative is a repeat of 2005-2009.
  15. I am wondering if they in the process of lining someone else up and want to be able to sack Jones and announce his replacement at the same time. Don't think that they are stupid enough to think that it might get better with Jones. They must know that they made a massive mistake appointing him in the first place.
  16. Heard Martin O’Neill on the radio. Surely hcdajfu?
  17. We al know midsomer murders is on ITV3.
  18. We now have a really bloated squad and a manager who is out of his depth. Can't see him being able to get this lot organised to stay up in the same way that Eddie Howe managed at Newcastle last season. Think that we are going down and the summer is going to be carnage as lots of players then leave.
  19. Think that might have been Ted Bates locking Terry Paine in the office until he signed. Ted also signed Mick Channon on a Sunday (against the rules back then) and changed the date on the form. My recollection is that Lawrie called Keegan initially on the pretext that he could get some parts from Germany for him. Happy days.
  20. Is it just me, or is the PA at SMS just far too loud? Although the sound quality is actually very good. Makes it really difficult to talk to the person next to you. Feels more like a night club than a stadium. Your thoughts.
  21. I must be abnormal then. They only time I get my phone out during a game is to use the stopwatch when the fourth official puts the board up.

    Block One

At the King Power the away fans are in the equivalent of the Kingsland/Chapel corner. The problem with the suggestion of having away supporters in the Kingsland/Northam corner is that it is right in front of the steps up to Northam Road. So impossible to segregate. Goodness knows how it would work if we ever played Pompey again. The police want to be able to seal off the away supporters (closing the North Car Park/Britannia Road) when the need arises. Sadly I think that we are stuck with having away supporters in half of the Northam. Not sure that it would be terribly easy to move them round slightly into blocks 1-3 of the Itchen.
  23. Remember watching his debut for Saints against Millwall. Last game of the 2005/06 season. He played left back, and even at the age of 16 it was obvious that he was going to be really good. First game of the following season he stuck a free kick into the top corner against Derby. The odious Billy Davies obviously remembered and got his team to kick him off the park in the first leg of the play-offs. Then he went to Tottenham so we only got to watch him play for one season He seemed to have lost interest in club football in recent years, but still loved playing for Wales. Tremendous player at his peak.
  24. We played Blackpool twice in the cup in the seventies. 4th round in 76, but also 3rd round in 74. Remember seeing Paul Bennett thump one in from well outside the box.
  25. Realistically the result could also be predicted with an umpire’s signal:
