  1. I failed. I booked a nice table for valentines day, it turns out Mrs Geezer can't play snooker
  2. Brazillian
  3. As someone else has mentioned Andy has died, but the family still run it. There is also Charlies chippy(best chippy in so'ton) , a sandwhich bar, 1 indian takeaway, 1 indian Restaurant, 2 chinese takeaways (including the Golden River which has been there for at least 30 years), 1 chinese resturant, a greasy spoon, coffee shop and one takaway pizza place. I don't think I've missed any.

  5. Serious question guys: I’m taking 3 kids to this match & would preferably like to get them home intact (it’s valentines day on Sunday & damaged kids won’t do me any favours at all ). In our prem days I always parked in Woolston and was considering parking their again for this match, however, I remember when we played the skates before, a load of their mob got off the train there, fortunately the nipper & I had got on the bus and got out of the way quickly, and after reading through this thread, it looks likely that there may be trouble in that part of town on Saturday. We now park in Centurion Estate but I wanted to avoid going in that direction as the skate fans busses will need to be passed on the way back after the match, not a prospect I am really looking forward to. What are your opinions as to the safest place to park should I go for Woolston & risk getting caught in a riot, or park in Centurion and …. Er…..risk getting caught in a riot?
  6. For my sins I sit in the family centre (corner of Chapel & Kingsland), and this was a question I asked my neighbouring fans (all STH btw). It did look a bit unusual seeing Saints fans taking up nearly all the Northam, and the MK fans tucked away in the corner. It was great to see so many there last night, although I did find it a little strange not being able to stretch out, usually my kids desert me & go and sit at the top of the stand, :smt102 but couldn't yesterday, so I couldn't lean on the seat next to me, as has become a habit over the last few seasons.
  7. I thought Thomas was awesome last night, as he has been whenever he’s played this season (especially at RB). I’m a Thomas fan, his passion & desire is certainly something to be admired, however, as I saw it, he ran across the pitch (the exact distance is irrelevant, but from my recollection it was the width of the penalty box), shoved their player in the chest to get involved in something that he wasn’t initially his problem. All this was no more than 5 minutes after getting booked for a foul. I don’t have a problem with bookings for fouls made in the tackle, that’s part of being a defender, sometimes you get it right & get the ball, other times it goes wrong & you get the player, but to go looking for a second yellow (or even a straight red) by getting involved in someone else’s fight, it is foolish and irresponsible. Other posters have inferred that he was right to get involved with the second incident, but what would have been those posters reaction if he’d been sent off, and MK had got back into the game? It’s about channelling that passion in the right direction & using a bit of common sense.
  8. Had one their about 6 years ago. I was a little disapointed to be honest. We had a mini tour of the stadium, basically just the changing rooms & team benches (dugout in the dell days). Then went over to the concourse behind the family centre and the kids took some shots at a goal, then it was up to the community room where we were pretty much left on our own to play on table football & had food, that, incidently, we had to prepare ourselves. The kids enjoyed it, but to me I felt 'short changed'. I would have liked to have seen a bit more behind the scenes, such a one of the suites, maybe the manages offeice & boardroom, and definitely the trophy cabinet (no matter how enmpty it may be :smt086).
  9. Surely a fan as 'experienced' as yourself would have realised that at the time of purchasing tickets for other matches you could have asked the TO to record the purchases for you relatives against their own names on the database, that way they would be entitled to buy their own tickets without using your customer number?
  10. I'm not a Lowe luvvie, but maybe the best thing he ever did for us was keeping the cheque book hidden from Twitchy.
  11. Just found this on skates website: http://www.fansonline.net/portsmouth/mb/view.php?id=226568 shmabi Posted on 28/01/2010 16:37 avram Email Message To A Friend | Reply To Message avram has resigned along wid storrie teller offical annoucment to be made at 6 o'clock
  12. Certainly did on Saturday, ordered a white coffee, when the guy was putting the lid on I noticed it was black, not a problem, I just picked up some milk & sugar. When I tasted it I nearly spat it over the poor guy in front of me. The dopey clot had given me Bovril, which by now had the milk & sugar added. No me as well. :smt054 I've bought a programme at every match I've been to, right back to my first match against Vancouver Whitecaps. The only one I'm missing is MLTs testimonial prog. We were late getting to the stadium & there was a huge queue at the prog seller, so I thought I'd get one once I'd got into the stadium, but they'd sold out.
  13. Will they be ground sharing with us by then
  14. The developers, Warburg Properties, were originally intending to build a small supermarket (Co-op were lined up to take it on), with offices above & 2 stories (I think) of flats above that. This was going to be on the site between The Chantry Hall & Central Hall (take a look on Google Earth its shows the site cleared with Chantry Hall still there). There was a lot of problems with consultants not being paid and architectural issues and the plug was pulled. For the first time ever I am ITK. Now my own personal opinion, based on nothing at all, is that the Ice Rink is a smoke screen. I think the developers are hoping & expecting that it will never to get planning permission, after all it's not the best place for it. They will then have the opportunity to say ‘well we tried’ and press ahead with building flats on, what is now a far larger and more accessible site, giving a better & quicker return for their money. I used to watch The Vikings play ice-hockey on saturday nights and I hope this goes through.
  15. Yeah, I know, I never said anything different. I was merely reinforcing your post by providing some evidence, which you have kindly copied & pasted into this post. HTH
  16. Correct, here are the rules from 2006/2007, I assume they haven't changed significantly: http://www.football-league.co.uk/staticFiles/56/91/0,,10794~37206,00.pdf Clause 14.4 is the relevant one. So no 'double' goals, no extra time but straight to penalties. That should make things exciting.
  17. Sad news indeed. Always enjoyed his commentries, as a youngster who started watching & playing in the early 80's, I always found them informative and helpful for a young lad learning the game. RIP Bill McClaren - They'll not be dancing on the streets of Harwick tonight
  18. From wiki (therfore it must be true): The name Romsey is believed to have originated from the term Rūm's Eg, meaning "Rūm's area surrounded by marsh". Rūm is probably an abbreviated form of a personal name, like Rūmwald (glorious leader). I believe Romsey has always been spelled with an 'o' but pronounced 'Rumsey'. I'm led to believe that the pronounciation was changed, like so many rural communities, when the railway timetables were standardised, this may have been part of the Railawys Act of 1921, but I could be wrong on that.
  19. She is buried in Wellow church yard
  20. I believe Inspector Wexford was also filmed in Romsey. About 10 years ago myself and some colleagues saw Jimmy Carter, (former American President) drinking in The Mill at Dunbridge after fishing The Test. He had a few FBI guys with him. Carter was in his fishing gear, the rest in suits & sunnys - they almost blended in Richard Digence & Chris Tarrant also fish locally & I believe Digence lives around here somewhere. I've worked in Michelmersh for 12 years.
  21. Spot on. I think we should be happy just to be here still. It is a hell of a job to reach the play-offs with a -10 start. Once our survival was gauranteed I've always been of the opinion that we were looking at a mid-table finish. Then next season get promoted as champions. I would much rather we got promoted as champs, giving us some rare silverware, rather than finishing 6th and sneaking into the Championship through the back door. Personally I've never been a fan of the play-off. IMHO the 3 best teams in the league should be promoted. (Thats not to say I wouldn't be happy if we got promoted that way - hypocritical - yes I know). A day out in the JPT final will be a bonus, but I can't see us turning over Leeds just yet.
  22. I think that you may be wrong there, so many people don't give a sh!t now, this guy will probably think on it as a badge of honour that he has killed, and will be boasting to his equally gutless mates. So many of the underclass smirk their way through their trials now and seem proud of what they have done.
  23. I played against David Pucket (remember him?) about 5 or 6 years ago. I think he was in a Southampton Institute staff team, or something like that. He was playing in midfield. Now bearing in mind he was 40ish and a long time 'ex-pro', and never a 'great' pro-footballer at that, he completely ran the midfield. However we did win the match, but that was more to do with the inability of his team mates, mind you DP did put one past me. I don't think any Saturday/Sunday parks players would get much of a look-in in a L2 match let alone the prem, no matter how good (deluded) they think they are.
  24. Your post wasn't there when I started typing mine, so how come your post is timed at 12:52 & mine at 12:57. It didn't take me 5 minutes to type it. This has made look like an incompetant fool
