Just for the recored, my 13 year old son raises money for charity too. He also goes to football matches and manages to behave, he also plays rugby and doesn't feel the need to punch anyone. HTH

They may have been drunk, loud and singing songs, but generally (and it is a generalisation, but correct none the less) rugby fans have the intelligence/morality not to want to break the law by smashing someones head in. Despite what the 'hard' :smt043 men on here may think, there is a far bigger drinking culture within rugby, but drunk rugby fans don't feel the need to fight someone else who happens to be wearing the shirt of the opposition. Because of this you can attend a rugby match and enjoy a pint or 5, whilst sat in the stands watching the game, instead of having to leave your seat 10 minutes before half time to try & squeeze as many beers down your throat during the half time break.

Well done to Davis, I was a bit of a fan of his way-back-when. He has shown himself to be a top bloke over the last 20 years or so, not just a top sportsman. He has always come across as having an incredible and self-depricating wit. What I don't understand is why do snooker players abilities decrease with age. It's hardly a physical sport, the tables and other equipment are no different and the principle of hitting the ball at the correct angle to get it in the pocket remains the same. I appreciate a players eye-sight deteriorates but this can be corrected by glasses.

So maybe Lambert shouldn't get it either, he's scored shed loads of goals, but he's only doing what a striker is paid to do. I've not seen any official mention of the POS, usually there is stuff in the Echo, or on the OS, but I've not seen anything yet - have I missed something?

From where I was sat, (family centre, corner of Kingsland & Chapel). I didn't think it was a foul, if anything it appeard that Seaborne was the victim. Either way, it was defo a yard or so in the box. Nice shot though.

I don't see what's so special about xmas (apart from Santa), surely he has to deliver between the start & end of next season. Our position at christmas is completely irrelevant. ??:

Lambert for me, but when it comes down to the actual voting I'll vote for Harding. Why? Tactical voting, Lambert will win by a country mile (so I'll let others vote for him), but I think Harding should get a close second, I don't remember him having a bad game, even when played at RB. Third & forth IMHO are Jiadi & Kelvin, although I which order I'm not sure. As for Lallana, he's certainly come of age this year, but, he's plenty of years in front of him to pick up one of these things. As others have alluded too, it's been a great year & seems a real shame that only one player can win this. In previous years any of the above would have won on this seasons performances.

That's fine getting the passangers to sign away their liability should the plane they are flying in crash, but what about the guy who's head it lands on when it crashes. Whilst those that can't travel at the moment have my sympathy, they are not the only ones involved if one of these things fall from the sky. As a footnote, if I were due to fly, I'd want to be bloody sure it was safe.

John Denham lives in his constituency. He lives in the flats, near The Triangle just off Whitworth Road, and I have seen him 'out and about' in Bitterne Park, not electioneering, but just shopping etc. I once bumped into him leaving the Indian Restaurant on the Triangle. (I was leaving, he was passing by).

Southampton Nostalgia - Department Stores
Dimond Geezer replied to spyinthesky's topic in The Lounge
There was a Lancaster & Crooks on Bitterne Park Triangle, I think it is a bathroom shop now. There was one in Tyrell & Greens back in the '70's. As a young lad it fascinated the hell out of me. . What about 'Wavy Line' these were probably the forerunners of the convenience store. There was one on the corner of Dimond & Manor Farm Roads, it was run by Mr & Mrs Emm. They used to have a penny sweet tray kept beneath the counter and you could take an old tanner (there's one for the old folks) in and get 2.5p worth of sweets, Usually 5 Black Jacks. \\:D/ -

 I wouldn't have minded a few meddling kids around, it would've taken my mind off of what was happening, (or rather what wasn't actually happening). :smt101

When I was a young trainee Engineer, about 22-23 years ago, myself & my boss did a structural survey on the balcony in this place. The caretaker opened up, turned on the lights & buggered off. My boss did what he had to do & buggered off, telling me to take some measurements & wait for the caretaker to get back before catching the bus back to the office. I was in that old, dark, smelly cinema on my own for about 45 minutes. It is the most spooky/scary situation I've ever been in. I was sh!tting myself. Your mind starts playing tricks on you & you 'see' and 'hear' things that aren't really there. :smt087 I was so glad when the caretaker got back.

I disagree - the really tragic thing is that Baj has got his calculator out and worked it all out.

Didn't know he was ill. He was not everyones cup of tea, but he shook up the music industry when it needed it. We will always need mavericks like MM. Music can do with someone like him right now. RIP fella
