Away except losing to Rotherham at Don Valley stadium in the cup. The last game saints played before i left home. MARE

This will be a heck of a test on recent form. Would not be unhappy with a draw. Would be thinking same old saints if we lose. If we win then i really will start to believe we could do something special this season.

Wasnt this dude supposed to be interested in us at some point ?

What a selfish rich buffoon. Someone needs to have a word with him. It will be the biggest carbon footprint by any small family in the world! -
Do you think he will be in the starting 11 for most of the season then? Bearing in mind We have Lambert and Barnard that were the first choice till last week. Was his performance that good?

Talking of Paris. I might be going to the Korea vs Japan game tonight dressed with a nice touch of European flavour. Ice white shoes, ice white socks with navy blue double cadet stripes. A pair of shorts. A t-shirt with chevron action flash. Round it off with a tossed pink sweater. Homme du sport. It's a look that says i'm in Seoul and nothing's going to stop me!

Like the name of one of their players. Sanchez Ming.

From a personal viewpoint I want to see Saints on TV, which means getting to the top flight. However I don't want us to do a Man City. It would be beneficial long term to run the club as a business with income matching expenditure. With success of course comes the pressure that might well see us struggle in the prem, but the ride to the top would be enjoyable for everyone. I would love to see a Southampton side promoted, as so far in my life its never happened. Getting to the FA cup final was my only highlight that wasn't narrowly avoiding relegation. I appreciate that it's difficult to justify the price hike's and the typical fan now, is not the same as the typical fan 15 years ago.

I'm more in shock that you study in Huddersfield than anything else.

Think he is still in his early 20's but's had a career that's been ravaged by injury. Always showed potential, but always gets injured. something like 100 appearances in 8 years isn't exactly a good return. By all means give him a run, and every chance he will do well, but don't anyone hold your breath will you.

this looks suspiciously like a wind up thread

I think its pretty dreadful to try to get others to boycott. The club needs all the support and unification it can get at the moment, not uprising amongst fans. I don't think many clubs idolise the chairman, but it shouldn't stop our support once the players cross the line. If you can't be arsed or don't want to go fair enough, but please don't try to start protests.
-
Correct. Get the players to play with a little freedom, let them enjoy their football. Lets go on the attack and try to score a few goals in the process. Hopefully Adkins will have a coaching team with him that the players respond to well. His qualification in pschology might be a blessing too.

You are the Egg man, I am the walrus. Very impressive. Without so much as a wobble.

Good God. Nerd alert. Maybe Howe knew he wasn't going to be offered the job off the back of his meeting with NC, therefore might have been twisted by him that he wasn't going to take it. I would be amazed if he genuinely turned saints down, turmoil or not. Bigger club, more money. Why would he?
-
would love it if we got super kev. Highly doubt it though. Has there ever been more uncertainty about a managerial appointment?. It could run and run this. I would prefer to have my life back where i don't have to check this site every hour for the latest. Come on NC put us out of our misery.

Overseas saints what other teams do you follow?

I get enough disappointment in my life from Saints and England. I think I would be slitting wrists if I adopted anyone else. -
ok, not wilkins. I think even I could do better at the rate he's going
-
I imagine Cortese will base his appointment on the interview and rapport with the next manager rather than just experience and/or reputation. I think he wants a manager who thinks like him, therefore speculation as to who it will be is even more difficult than normal. Having said that Cortese is ambitious and a winner, so we should end up with the right man for the job. Fingers crossed
-
+1 agree with franks cousins good post. at the moment we just need to appoint a good manager to have a chance of promotion. if we drive cortese out then we are deep in the mire.
-
Can't say I am surprised by the reaction of most people. I was shocked too. We don't know the reasons and football moves on. Let's look to the future with some excitement. OK last night was a bad result, but we can still win promotion. We should come together more than ever. If not for the chairman or the manager, then for the club and each other. We can win at the weekend but i just wish there were some more positive vibes around, even at this difficult time. Its a long season ahead, and we can still do it.

brilliant. rip out all the plastic seats and replace with deckchairs to give it the right atmosphere

and butterfield can play there too cant he, when richardson comes back?

an amusing thread. i dont want nicky butt at saints. he was from the horrible irritating man u side with the likes of the nevilles, that i detested. i first saw him for england schoolboys at wembley in 1990. never ever liked him, league 1 or not. no thanks.

sarmiento had the nickname of 'the steering wheel' as he always directed the play from the midfield if i remember correctly.
