  1. "Yesh, I really did get the sh*tty end of the shtick with this job"
  2. He's one of the blokes from 118 118 isn't he? Give him a ring - they apparently can answer any question.
  3. Absolutely. Look at the history (1) we had divs 1,2,3,4 (2) 1st Div split themselves off and we had Prem, 1st Div, Div2 and Div3. (3) 1st D splits off and is now Championship, so we have Prem, Champ, League1 & 2 (4) Now it is suggested we have Prem1, Prem2 - and what else? As KT says above, Prem1 will split off again. And we have what the euro administrators have wanted all along - a Prem with 18 clubs in it so they can spend twice as much time in a euro chamionship. And to compete in that euro competition the P1 clubs will argue for, and easily get, whatever they want from Sky. Its called "consolidation" i.e. big gets evermore bigger.
  4. The Holding company is in Administration. The football club isn't (yet). So who actually owns it? I thought the stadium was "owned" by yet another of SLH's companies. So who owns that? What are the holding company's other assets? What happened to Retirement? Did that disappear as an entity at reverse take-over, or not? Can Fry actually deal with the sale of the football club separately from the sale (or otherwise) of the holding company? In other words, is SFC (and the other associated companies) a wholly-owned subsidiary/ies of SLH?
  5. ..As long as that last card isn't a joker.
  6. How dare you pass such a comment on our tremendous Academy that has produced a welter of excllent players and has allowed us to sell on and keep the club afloat. Do you realise you are slagging off the very thing we set out to pin all our hopes on this season? Oh.
  7. Even bad teams get the odd few decent results in a season.
  8. Revolutionary coaching set up.
  9. It might be an idea if people like 19C actually said what they want to say about that side of the story rather than asking "questions" for others to answer. Why can't he (and you) be up front and not keep coming at things obliquely?
  10. Not true if the two strikers are closer together.
  11. Wotte said the admin issue had upset some of the players. Therefore whether points may or may not be deducted, it is psychologically a good idea to give players the hope that they could still play to avoid the drop.
  12. In the summer, when Rupert Lowe was pondering having a Dutch manager, someone told him needed another Advocaat, to which he replied "Good idea, if I sue for libel again he could get us some cash in".
  13. "Southampton's season was plagued by their inability to borrow............. ..........any players with ability enough to make a contribution on the pitch."
  14. Of course not. Mr Fry will personally see every single person who expresses interest, in strict order of application, not using any one in his team to assist in carrying out any kind of preliminary assessment, and will personally visit any of them should they be incarcerated in a mental institution and unable to attend St Marys.
  15. If only...if only... People dislike Lowe, and blamed Lowe, so many stayed away as a result. Thats a fact. Therefore we'd have been better off had he not returned. And he should have known it. There's no "if only about it". If only Republicans had trusted the Army, we'd not have had 30 years of troubles in Northern Ireland. If only people had not fallen out of love with Thatcher, we might still have the Tories in Government. But they didn't. Recognise the reality of a situation and stop pretending things could have been otherwise. They weren't.
  16. Why would Aviva sell the ground at a knock-down price if someone was buying the club? Where else would they play? If you were Aviva wouldn't you say "Buy the ground at a fair realistic price or rent it at a fair and reasonable rent"?
  17. But their money is if they don't come back again. You'll want them for that, won't you?
  18. An observation for which you shall be excomunicated. No football fan could ever accept such blasphemy. But I think many had better get used to watching it on telly, because the game is under more pressure than ever to "consolidate". And at least football is on telly. Not much room for art in between Big Brother and American Idol, Wife Swap and Kiss My Mini-Celebrity Maxi-Arse.
  19. The art gallery is crap (just as the football club has been this year). But its crap partly because it never changes. That's a problem - the majority of the stock never sees the light of day. But why, exactly, should the City of Southampton subsidise the football experience for the majority of Saints fans who live (i hazard a guess) outside the city.
  20. Well we don't play football with any width, so why would you want the sides of the paintings?
  21. Well, it isn't exactly something you go down the pub to say to a bloke wearing a Saints shirt is it? "I see you're off to the match, me, I'm off to the gallery to have a gander at 'The Church at Vertheuil'. I hope to find it was painted with a touch of french ultramarine down both sides and a little viridian mixed with lead white at the the back, with some ochre broken with naples yellow in the middle". "Barman, can you help me extricate this bottle of pils from my face".
  22. The Israeli mafia? Berkovitch for return as "D of F"? We'll get a different class of steward.. nice black suits, bulge under the one armpit....
  23. Shouldn't the question be "why can't the public actually see publicly-owned works of art", not "why can't the Council flog off some of the collection to save a football club that private enterprise ran into the ground"? If we were going to flog off artworks, I'd rather spend it on a decent music venue, or a decent alternative theatre to the boring Mayflower. The way professional football is currently structured, it has to be the province of private capital, not public investment. Do you really want public money used to support the greediest industry there is (banking excepted, of course, already a bottomless pit for public subsidy).
  24. I Should Never Have Come Out of Retirement. or Just Look What You Got Me Into, Guy. (Subtitled: It Started with A Kiss, Never Thought It Would Come To This) or Not a Pretty Sight - Rupert Bares All or Once Flushed With Success, It All Went Down The Pan When I Turned To Football
