  1. Hardly the definition of "international class" is it? I thought it was L2 players couldn't pass and had poor touch, but could be relied on to chase...
  2. But then fans aren't best placed to assess the funding behind potential bidders. Fry was... and fooked it right up.
  3. Not sure that having to stoop to head it makes it a perfect cross.... Perfect cross for having your head kicked off, maybe.
  4. That's interesting - I saw a chunky black guy in a black bentley driving down the avenue earlier this week and it crossed my mind he looked like a "footballer" (interpret that as you see fit) - with a very odd but presumably personalised number plate. Maybe.........
  5. More likely that he does't want one until he's seen how we are going, firmed up on the role and differentiated between the responsibilities of manager and DofF ... and maybe by then NC will be taking less of a role himself.
  6. Ok, Comme il disait, "Merde du cheval", alors.
  7. What the english game needs to sort out urgently are decent competitions/leagues for professional reserve teams to play in. The present system is absolutely useless.
  8. Maybe you could take your's off your own, just once in a while?
  9. No, they are all baseless.
  10. A hard rain is gonna fall.
  11. I don't think it is clutching at straws. Slowly but surely AP is getting things sorted. Getting a team to play his way and change personnel doesn't happen overnight. It's only September. It is happening.
  12. How long can we afford to keep him in the team while he learns how to do these things? He has not developed as he should have done - after all he had an entire season in CCC, so he should be doing better in L1 -- and he isn't.
  13. He has a job? Do they use his skull as an echo chamber in the dockyard?
  14. At least it was a good few bottles, rather than a bad lot of wines in his trolly. Shows he can at least pick something correctly.
  15. Isn't that exactly what Pardew was complaining about, that there wasn't anyone scouting for Saints, so there wouldn't have been a list to see. But he does now seem to be getting one together...
  16. Are you saying that this thread actually brightened up your dull afternoon? It has brightened mine up - because I now know there are people around who actually have duller afternoons than I do.
  17. In my opinion it was the appointment of Woodward that set us even more firmly on a path that almost saw the obliteration of the club. That appointment, along with that of the utter nonentity Clifford set in motion the deplorable plummet towards extinction, from which we were rescued at the 11th hour. If he'd been the Emperor's tailor, none of us wouldn't have been able to see the suit he'd made, and you'd still be telling us that he won an award once for making women's underwear.
  18. On that basis your opinions can never be right. In my opinion that is a fact. ...But then I may be wrong. But that of course is only my opinion. Hang on, I'll just consult Noam Chomski.
  19. I get the sentiment and agree to an extent. However I don't think the new management thought we'd need an entirely new squad. In fact Mr Cortese said well before the window shut he expected "one or two more players". I said at the time that he hadn't really understood what was needed. We did indeed need practically an entirely new squad, but we haven't got it, and the window is shut. Yes we can get some loans, albeit some of those loans might be "on loan pending the next window at which time we may sign them permanently". But you can't expect people not to get twitchy about things when (ignoring the points penalty) we would still be almost bottom. Yes it is a work in progress, but I think what people are really saying is "we knew the youth strategy wasn't right for CCC, but hell, we didn't think that strategy would have left us in such a bad a position for an L1 season." But AP has got to build Rome, and based on what he has done so far, there is reason to expect things will turn around, but it may be some weeks yet before consistently good performances materialise.
  20. When I did mine, I was 18. Leg was in plaster for 6 weeks, and it took months before the stiffness could be worked out, and knee always weak afterwards. Treatment is much better these days, but ACL almost always was the end of a professional career in them thar days. Hope you are right that it isn't ACL.
  21. Players get a 6 when "the game passed them by" or who you "didn't see much of" or "not sure he did much" or "didn't make an impact". What does a player have to be like to get a 3 or a 4? Leave his boots at home and be told to stand facing the player's entrance for 90 minutes with his arms in the air?
  22. That lack of inexperience has yet to be coverted into wins, that's the problem.
  23. I'm just astounded that you think Pullis Jr, who has shown not one jot of real talent anywhere he's been was signed because we actually thought he might be a useful signing. Young (well, not that young really) and cheap (yes) but when adding someone to your payroll, surely, surely you have criteria other than just young and cheap. There is not a shred of evidence to support the ticking of ANY other box. I can't with all honesty understand how your explanation is "much more logical", given the complete lack (in my opinion) of any other ticks.
  24. Hold the Back Pages - Polish International gets an assist against Northampton Town in the Carling Cup. Saints deluged with expressions of interest from a multitude of clubs...
  25. Let's get this right - someone (FF) who has a history of getting good information puts some of it the public domain. You on the other hand call it bullsh1t on no knowledge whatsoever, but on a number of weak assumptions where there is little justification for those assumptions. Presumably you think Pullis Jr was signed because we'd scouted him and liked what we saw? Thats what I call bullsh1t.
