Never a big fan of transfer moves that make us weaker. He always was (and still is) one of the best wide men in league 1. Gutted to have lost him. Leaves a big gap in the squad too, as he can cover both flanks, and central midfield. I’m hoping we’ve got someone lined up to replace him.

What did he say about it, ladysaint?

There's no way I'd want Punch to leave.

Anyone remember after Swindon beat us earlier in the season, Nicola Cortese came out and said "Charlie Austin should've been playing for us" in a criticism of us not having a proper local scouting network at the time.

Adkins has got a brilliant record of producing top strikers - I'd trust his judgement on whoever he brings in. You can never have too much fire-power IMO.

Hope you get it working - Really want to see some from the archives...

Oh lord, this is from sketchy memory... Ronnie Ekelund vs Coventry? (Double one-two with Magilton) Am I dreaming, or did this happen?
-
Good to see Oscar back. Wonder if he'll be sent out on loan to get some game time?

Squad's good at the moment. Have 2 players in each position. We'd like a striker if Bignall leaves (No way I trust DC's fitness) Depending on your take on Wotton, we could do with an extra central midfielder too...

My friend had one a few years ago and loved it. Drives a Porsche Cayman now........ And still misses it.

Excellent news. He's been getting better & better as he plays more and more games for us. Great move for him and us.

Has he played much this season?

Agree mate. Players like Monk & Brian Howard had to drop down a level though in-order to get enough games to build themselves up. We were in the prem at the time when they left, I think. Mills & Blackstock were just annoying because we were in decline when they left.

Was the game on SKY? I seem to recall watching it. Was watching Goals on sunday and good to see how Matt Mills has developed. He's now Reading's captain. Was gutted he, and Dexter both left for peanuts.

Great result today lads. Heard we were 1-0 down and feared the worst, but credit to the boys. Nice to get back to our old favourite of winning 3-1. Great to share the goals around a bit too. Lallana truly makes the difference to us - He's just got that guile needed to open teams up. Glad Richardson got his 1st game under his belt too. Bring on tuesday.

Article on the game is up at SKY. http://www.skysports.com/nikeacademy/story/0,28730,19680_6453722,00.html

Agree with this 100%.

Just read up on all your match reports. Sounded a great game. Was REALLY frustrating listening to it on the radio until we scored - We sounded superb, but just could not break them down. Guly sounded fantastic. Sounded like he's found his best position as a link-up man, without the worry of defending, if he was playing as one of a central midfield two. We certainly had a lot of guile in the 1st XI yesterday, with Punch/Lallana/Guly. The bench looked healthy too. Well done boys & bring on Huddersfield. Biggest test of the season.

Nail on head. I hate listening to these types of games. Need a goal.

Richard Hall springs to mind... Really good question actually. You could argue that had Michael Svensson stayed fit, we never would've got relegated. I guess Jamie Redknapp doesn't count.

Breaking saints news - loan signing?? (Nicholas Bignall, from Reading)

Does it say anywhere how long the loan is for? -
How the mighty have fallen. He was brilliant for us. I find it crazy to think he has to drop to League 1 to get his career back on track. Be interesting to see how he does.

Just been really pleased with him. He was a welcome appointment, in my view. I'm just delighted the team have picked up under him - It would created much more pressure. He's got some good tools to work with, and he seems to be getting the belief back. Plus, he's trying to change the way we play (which is no easy task). Signs are good, fingers crossed the progress continues.
