  1. I like Punch - Shame he's fallen out of favour with the management. Like I said in the other thread, if we can get 500k for him, I think we'd all be happy. His continued good performances are going to help is value increase, so long may it continue.

  3. I'd take the play-off's at the moment. I'll be better suited to judge us after January to see if we still have Lallana & Chambo, and to see who we bring in. Can't see us winning the league with 3 crocked strikers.
  4. 2 or 3 days ago, I read an article about them wanting Austin/McClean/Fryatt - So I knew they mean't business. Seems like they're bidding for all of them. I always thought they were skint. New Foreign owners, I guess.
  5. I think Leicester & Hull will come close.
  6. Since he's on the outs with the management anyway, I'd take 500k for him.
  7. Agree. Barnard/Connolly can't play that many games in a row, and out wide, you could argue that our only cover for Lallana & Chambo are Butterfield & Dickson (Who are basically full-backs).
  8. Awesome example of a player to SO should've stayed where he was.

  10. Tommy Svindal Larsen - What a player! I remember when 97/98 1st came out - I was astonished you could pay a player 40k a week!
  11. If he wants to go, he'll go (And players nearly always want to go!) With that said, unlike the Theo/Bale situation, I'd hope that nearly all of that sum gets pumped back into the team
  12. Cheers for posting that, mate.
  13. Coming to the end of my 1st season (I’m slow) I’ve got 3 games left of the season, been promoted as champions, and have 108 points, and scored 108 goals, losing 3 games. I don’t think i’ve ever had a team on this game ever do so well. I knew I had some decent fire-power with this squad, so I’ve played an attacking 4-2-4 and it’s paid off. Free Transfer Signings:- Brandy – Lived up to the hype. 37 goals in 41 games (don’t think i’ve ever had a striker like that!) Would’ve had more if it wasn’t for the 10 week injury lay-off he’s current got. Gyan – Solid, but not spectacular. Did a job as cover. DeMerit – Fantastic signing. Missed out on my main DC target, but he’s been outstanding alongside Fonte. Cash Signings (Brought using MLG’s ‘credit card’ scheme (pay over 48 months) Nordveidt – Signed from Arsenal. Got some good potential. His main attribute for me has been his versatility. Bennett – Risky signing. Cost me over a million. Acts as cover for Fonte & De Merit. Time will tell if he was worth the money. Lewandowski – Old, experienced head. Lots of quality. Hell of a shot on him too. Loan Signings:- McEachran – Done well for being so young. (Signed up due to Chelsea being my parent club) Kakutua – Needed cover when Guly left in January. Versatile, and did a job. Never played him in his strongest position though. Van Aanholt – Awesome signing. Trusted my scouts on this one (after already having Dickson and Harding, but this kid was a class apart) Kightly – Signed short-term as cover when Lallana got injured. Pacheco – Been outstanding in the latter few games of the season with Brandy out.

  15. Adkins talks a little bit about January in the Walsall preview.... http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2246147,00.html
  16. http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/8739979.Cherries__Mitchell_dismisses_Pugh_transfer_talk/ Although, he did say the same before he sold Pitman & McQuoid
  17. Think Pugh plays left wing.... But with Punch out and about, and Holmes out for the season, we are short on both flanks.
  18. He certainly has. Attacking left winger with an eye for a goal. Been outstanding for them this season.

  23. I think all of those are just choice quotes. We'll see when Dan posts his article
  24. Cortese Quotes (Courtesy of Radio Solent) "We are actually ahead of schedule, for the last 14/16 months we turned the Football club into a proper structure. That was our intention from the very beginning. Look to the quality of people we within the football club we can proudly say we're ahead of our initial plan. The plan remains the Premier League within five years. I think it's realistic and we believe in it, our staff believes in it, the manager believes in it so there's no reason why we shouldn't achieve it. It is eseential to get promotion this season, to be in-line with our plans. At the moment I don't want to think of a scenario where that wouldn't happen. Over time things are becoming more familiar, with the changes we are making. In the beginning it was difficult because I implimented a lot of changes and that was difficult for the staff to understand. However, now they're starting to see the results of it, and positive results of it. There's a feel good factor out there and you can feel it - among fans, sponsors and potential partners. People are really buying into it. I think we're in a very good position. We had a difficult start to the season but lucky the other teams are now beating each other. Now the teams ahead of us are closer and we're convinced that we're going to win this League. We want to get automatic promotion. If you could guarantee me promotion via the play-offs that would be great for the fans, but I think the play-offs would kill me so I'd rather automatic promotion. Nigel Atkins is doing great. This isn't just my perception, if you speak to staff around the training ground they'll tell you he's a great communicator and motivator and I honestly believe we made a very good choice and I think I can have a very long term working relationship with him. He's changed the attitude. His personality, his way of being, it's motiviated people. People who haven't been here for a while, they come down here and they say 'it's a completely different atmosphere'. Our style of play is about to change as well, obviously it needs a bit more work and that's what Nigel has been saying. We're always looking at ways of improving ourselves and he's a man with a plan. If plan A doesn't work, he's got a plan B. That's the main change he's made in this very short period. (On development) It's as important as getting promoted to the Championship, and ultimately the Premier League. It's part of our vision, it's part of our plans to heavily invest in the development of the club. The staff has been increased, top people, coaches, nutritionists, all the specialists, even for our development squad not just the first team. That obviously helps us develop the players, the talent of the players and to recruit them as well. We want to recruit at a young age and take them through the ranks to become first team footballers. Look at Barcelona compared to Real Madrid, who've spent over EUR300 million on transfers. They beat them with players who'd come through the ranks. There were nine players from their academy beating a very expensive Real Madrid. This is what we want to achieve. We want to go into the Premier League to battle, not struggle. We want to achieve something there. We believe we can do that whilst being financial sound by developing players for our first team. We are investing into a complete new training centre. We call it a centre of excellence as that's what we want it to become..." (On Lallana..) "There's currently no pressure on Adam or on us. We are not a selling club, I can't see any of the players leaving in January. Definitely players we want to keep here, and players we hope would want to commit their long term future to us. I can't see a possibility we would sell him in January." (on a new contract?) "It depends on a lot of factors. We expect him to keep his focus on the football and all the rest will be sorted within the next couple of months." (On Oxlade Chamberlin) "He's not going to go anywhere in January. We're talking about a very young player in the first year of a professional contract. We'll have to cope with the rumours and we have to help the kid cope with the rumours. However he's very well looked after and I don't think he'd wish to be anywhere else than here. We're very proud to see the progress he's made in such a short period. A year ago no-one was talking about him, he wasn't even close to the first team… but when he got the first team call he did great. There's still a lot for him to learn, he's aware of that so it's important. We've got got here a great prospect for the future, but not the transfer market."
  25. In fairness, he does have to type it up 1st! Co-incidence that this is coming out when Pards is just about to become Newcastle manager?
