I'd rather not have someone who has no clue about League 1 - Adkins or Howe would be fine by me.

Perception of managers is interesting. I thought of this recently when a mate asked about whether we should Ince as manager and I was instantly saying "No f*cking way!" - And yet, not so long ago, this was the guy who did so well he got a prem job, and it all went pear-shaped for him. Pards' rep was pretty damaged when he joined us too - Wasn't he interviewed for the Yeovil job prior to joining us? It's crazy how things can turn so quickly.

Harsh. Wigley is a great coach, but was NEVER supposed to be a manager.

There is just something about him that makes him stand out IMO. It's too soon to tell how good he could be, be what's he's done with the Cherries is a minor miracle. I'd gladly welcome him aboard, however, I hope they aren't just going for him because they percieve him to be a push-over.

I'd be astonished if O'neill came here (For both League 1 and Cortese reasons)

From a P.R. perspective : I'd imagine it will be shortly after the new man is in charge. Surely that's best for everyone.

The committee has been around at saints for a little while though. When was the last Solent Forum? I remember Cortese saying then that all transfers are discussed between various people before they sign them - Maybe since Reed has joined Pards had less of a say? Who knows. Maybe he got more p*ssed off that some of his recommendations weren’t being accepted?

I don't care if KS is telling the truth or not - His post just gave me my 1st (much needed) dose of optimism since monday, so thanks! - I needed some after this week!

Mowbray is the best realistic option I've heard... Purely on his track record with promotions AND his style play. If this "will eventually be known as the southampton style" stuff is true, then there isn't a chance we'll get there with 90% of the names mentioned.

Just woke up to the news. Ah, crap. My brain hurts. Ok, 1st off - I don't understand the 'official reason' given, at all - What on earth does it mean? Cortese has thrown a MASSIVE spanner in the works. 2 days after a 4-0 win away too. Behind the scenes, clearly things have not been right. So what's the real reason? Have things just taken a downward turn in the last week? I think they must have. Pards didn't really sound like a man about to face the chop. Perhaps a disagreement on transfer policy? Has the money run out? Were they trying to sign players over his head? So disappointing. So who's gonna get the job? My 1st thought was Zola after the recent rumours on here.... 2nd *optimistic* thought was Martin O'neill... Then just heard from my dad that he thinks Phil Brown would do a job - I could see him being a target, actually.

Nouble's a beast. One of those rough diamonds. Can't see anyone loaning us a player if he's not in the 1st XI though. Matt Phillips would be a good signing. Certainly need some pace down the flanks. I find it somewhat depressing that at the end of the season a few of us were fairly confident we'd sign better replacements for Papa & Antonio -- Whereas now, in reality, i'd LOVE to have both of them back!

Good for taking Corners and left-footed free-kick's though... Seems an odd link to me. Perhaps an agent trying to force Carlisle's hand?
