No it didn't it looked like the clever idea of buying the leagues top scorer didn't look risky at all.
-
Right as I was comparing RL and Sharp with Jrod and how much each of them cost and how well they did in the same league last season and not with what league we were in when we signed said player I go with the 9 for the win:)
-
I might even be as bold as to say one of the best bargains the club has signed in many a year.
-
Yes the higher up the league ladder the club goes the more other clubs want us to cough up.
-
I'm not disagreeing that some current players will have to make way. I'm just pointing out that the same people saying get rid of he ain't good enough would be the some people gnashing teeth and blubing about player loyallty if, say, Adam Lallana buggered off to spurs tommorrow.
-
1 million and 2 million aren't really significant amounts of money in todays footballing world are they? (sad as that is) How J Rod is worth 7 million is beyond me but I reckon it pretty much means his name will be the first one on the team sheet.
-
Funny how we say that as fans and then get upset when a player or manager dumps us for someone else and bang on about loyalty:lol:
-
Yet the Mega bucks striker didn't score as many goals as either of our 2 "budget" strikers in the same league last season....
-
TBH if his agent knows those clubs are interested he surely has a duty to his client to find out what they are offering. I Imagine if there is genuine interest from other teams Jrod will want to know what they're offering which means he is unlikely to wrap it up with us quickly if there are offers on the table no doubt Newcastle or everton would look attractive to him.

So Basically ...if Nigel does a good job this season and keeps us up he'll be head hunted by the bigger clubs in the league next summer...If he doesn't he'll probably get the chop...either way this probably Nigels last season as saints boss:rolleyes:
-
He'll be gutted. Finally gets to the PL and then used as a make weight for a younger model. Makes sense I thought he struggled at times last season so PL is probably asking a bit much.
-
Eastleigh FC has a forum...wow. TBF aren't the money men at Eastleigh also linked with Oxford might explain why they decided to play them over saints.
-
Yes said on other threads I've said I'm concerned by our fullbacks. If we are going to play a similair system to this season (with the fullbacks getting forward to provide balls in to the box) we're asking a lot of our current fullbacks they struggled defensivly this season against skillfull pacy players while trying to get forward as well. I think we need better fullbacks (no I don't have a big list of names) to play the way we did last season. If we change our style of play they might be OK.

So does that now mean the french president can't earn more than 20% of what cleaning lady at his residence earns? How do you decide what a basic worker is? Were I work we have loads of different jobs earning different salaries with mangers over seeing people with lots of different skill sets god knows how you decide who was the basic worker.

Well thanks to the seating area being re-classified the loss of free kids tickets and my eldest turning 12 the cost of STs for me and the kids has shot up. I already have a full time job...If I could covince the bank to forget about the mortgage I'll be alright:)
-
Just checking we're talking about Billy Sharp here?...didn't see much evidence of the first two from Sharp last season and how many games has Lambert missed for saints through injury the last three seasons?
-
So he should second highest english scorer in the PL would make that a no brainer (you'd of thought) No reason why we can't manage Rickie like that though...after all by his own admission he is the shape of his life and fitness management is Nigel's thing.
-
Why?
-
You mean apart from him handing in a transfer request:lol: Yes Rickie might get injured but I was more interested in who will be our first choice paring up front I'm guessing a 7 million pound fee gets your name on the team sheet and Rickie isn't going to be left out unless,as you say, he is injuried.
-
Might as well all just get sky and stay at home cheaper than going to the match (espeically when you throw in travel expenses and such like to the cost of a ticket)
-
Well I doubt we're going to spend near on 7 million on a player and not have him down as pretty much a first choice every game. Can't see rickie being dropped so that leaves Billy and Tadanari as back up/Carling cup players.
-
I'm assuming not J-Rod would give us four strikers fighting it out for 2 spots and Lee Barnard. Can't see us adding another expensive striker in Hooper to the mix as well. Rather we got in some extra defenders TBH.
