  1. ......after he didn't come to saints last season I'd given up hope but it seems just as we hit the PL Michael becomes avaliable on a free it must be fate.........anyone seen him in Winchester yet:lol: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18101799
  2. according to the article The former Ipswich player has been on Saints' radar since he scored in the Lions' shock 3-2 FA Cup win at St Mary's in February. You kinda of hope we base our interest on future players on critera slightly more demanding than " **** me that was a good goal sign him up"
  3. Job share Nigels so f ucking good he can run two teams at the same time.....
  4. Yep it would take an England manager, let alone one a couple of weeks into the job, with pretty big bollix to pick any player outside the top league. Lambert was never in the running still think Holt was a better option based on this seasons form...the only thing I can see is that Carroll plays for Liverpool and Holt plays for some team in the footballing backwater that is East Anglia.....
  5. Couldn't agree more. Unfortunately Football chairmen these days see manager changes as the best option far to often. The results are mixed but for every example of a Wolves style fasico you get someone like Sheff wednesday who would argue it paid off to ditch the manager. I imagine NC was glad he ditched a cup final winning manager as it got him results. Personally I liked to see a rule that only allows managers to move clubs in the summer and force teams to stick with the manager they've chosen at the start of the season.
  6. So whats Carroll done to get a call up? surely Grant Holt should have been given a chance scoring a lot more goals in arguably a far worse team.
  7. I love us to have a long serving manager taking us forward as a club Nigel would be perfect for that. However managers in the modern game walk a very thin line if we start to look like relegation candidates next season I have no doubt NC we will wield the axe...He's done it once already and got good results. Then there's the rumours about all not being well between NA and NC...
  8. Careful dune will be out with his burning cross and a white pillowcase on his head......
  9. Love this thread three lines in a local rag...and everyone assumes the worst.....
  10. Fair point...but Millwall fans are the only ones I've seen at SMS try to cross the security netting to get at the saints fans after going a goal down.
  11. yes I was surprised to learn the squad are still trainning weeks after the season ended....
  12. ...they have such lovely fans..this guy seems like a nice bloke http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/9705804._I_ll_cut_your_throat__yob_threatened_policeman/?ref=rss Did anyone see this happen when Millwall came to SMS..
  13. AP was named LMA manager of the season last night....hard to argue with that given the season Newcastle have had...it will be interesting to see if this was a one off season for Newcastle or if they can build on what they've achieved this season http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18067904
  14. According to the League managers assocation league tables http://www.leaguemanagers.com/managers/mpl-league.html?seasonid=142&type=Season+Total Wierdly Brain McDermott is 12th making Nigel the best manager in the Campionship on paper this season. Well done NA.
  15. My marriage is important to me everybody elses marriage, be they straight or gay, not so much. Gay or straight get married or don't get married makes no difference to me..those who make a big thing about gay marriage are just the usual crusaders looking for a cause to get up tight about..one way or another.
  16. He was a good manager for us at a very difficult time of re-building the club ... I was pretty ****ed when he left. It's worked out well for everyone in the end and Nigel turned out to be a great replacement. At the end of the day Alan Pardew managed to give me something I'd never experinced (I couldn't even walk in 1976) ...a saints team winning, and easily to, a cup (tinpot or not) final...... For that alone I will always like the guy and glad to see him doing so well.
  17. Does NC except that I thought we got all the oxo money up front?
  18. I think that's the plan for 75% of the teams in the PL Priority one is don't get relegated for most of the clubs in the PL realisticly the title and a champions league spot is an unatainable goal most important thing is not to fall off the PL gravy train even if that means finishing 4th from bottom.
  19. Really?? ...I reckon dreaming of winning the PL is about as close as will come to winning it...
  20. I don't care if we're relegated to be honest......the football league isn't the terrible place I thought it was last time we fell out of the PL. I'd be quite happy to win a cup and be relegated but to be honest I can see us doing something similair to Norwich or Swansea.
  21. Closest I've been to a sub was the tour of HMS alliance at the sub museum at Gosport. Basically a WW2 sub that was built to late for WW2 so soldier on through the cold war...way to claustrophobic for me and the thing wasn't even under water. Fair play to you or anyone else that could live on one of those things I need the blue (or at least the grey drizzily) sky above my head.
  22. Wow we're blessed with a lot of navy boys around here.....shouldn't you lot be supporting the club down the road (joke) Fair play to all you sub boys my old man point blank refused to go on subs and left the navy early rather than go on subs. He loved ships on top of the water, he still talks about HMS cleopatra (Leander class) with great fondness today, not so keen on boats that go under the water though.
  23. Don't think we will keep any of the out of contract player HTBH. I like Bart but he needs regular first team football and I can't see him getting it here.
  24. It's not all good news...... Newcastle would only agree to the deal if we threw in Forecast as well Pardew is a big fan of Forecast apparently
