  1. well off the top of my head A) I can't afford a ST anymore B) we will probably lose a lot more C) we will never win it D) we're unlikely to ever finish in the top 6 E) MarK Lawrenson on MOTD
  2. I'm guessing Billy Sharp is 3rd/4th choice striker now then..
  3. I kind of agree I think we need a couple (not loads) of PL experinced players...is Yakuba that player I'm not sure. 1 milion seems a bargain compared to 6.5 for a champ striker who didn't outscore either Rickie or Billy last season though.
  4. How much did we pay for Billy? 2 Million? for 6.5 plus add ons I would expect a proven PL player (not one of the big names but at least someone with a couple of seasons in the PL under their belt)
  5. Surely that just proves clubs in the PL end up paying over the odds. Neither Shrap nor Lambert cost us that much and both out scored J rod last season playing the same level of football. I wonder how much Sharp and Lambert would cost us now...I bet we'd have to pay more than we did for them now were in the PL.
  6. Why not? People hear stuff and post it up...how people interpret the info is up to them. I'm more than happy for people to post up rumours/info here then I'll make my own mind up about what it might mean or might not mean. If I only wanted cold hard facts I might as well just go to the O/S.
  7. I hate to say it but I'm hoping for relegation this season....hopefully with a drop in ticket prices. Fuc k me if saints become a regular European team I may never see them play live again.
  8. Not anymore their not (unless they're accompained by two adults per child).last season they were free this season they have to pay £100+ so thats a 100% increase in four months
  9. Well I think Chelsea have just proved that tippy tappy stuff is no match for 11 men behind the ball and a long punt down field
  10. Wierdly I'd say my sons football improved from going to 11 aside, mostly becuase he is a defender, being in a proper unit of 5 and having the offside rule was far better for his development. Instead of being forced to man mark goal hangers (as he had at under 10s) he was able to actually cross the half way line and play like a proper fullback. The large pitch also quickly quashed the Mardonna style take on everyone type players who realised they couldn't beat 7-8 players the way they'd beaten 3-4 in smaller games on smaller pitches and that passing the football up field was quicker and more effective....I think it has a lot to do with coaching rather than looking for magic fixes.
  11. I honestly don't think the problems are with 11vs11 or pitxch size but more to do with the whole attitude of youth football. My sons just finished his first season at under 11 (playing 11 aside) he has an excellent coach who is more intrested in the boys playing football the right way than winning. Sadly from what I've seen far to many managers/coaches (and quite a few parents) seem obessed with winning at all costs hence the Westham style long hoof to the quick kid upfront which, while not very good football, is very effective at winning games at youth level. The best teams in tyro league one (under 11s) this season were big units with quick frontmen that won't change by just having less players on small pitches (in fact long ball on small pitches will be even more effective) I don't think there is anything wrong with playing 11 vs 11 that's how the game is played. What's needed is less emphasis on winning and more emphasis on having fun and learning to play good football.
  12. We will appear on tv when we're playing one of the big boys other than we will be the 30 second slot at the end of MOTD were not going to suddenly devolop 100 of thousands of asian fans demanding we are shown on telly every week. A few thousand extra JCL/plastics isn't going to make us a more attractive Pl side. Will be seen in the same light as the likes of Wigan, Bolton, Blackburn, Norwich, QPR and Fulham...Cannon fodder for the big boys.
  13. Really crowd income is nothing compared to the TV money plenty of teams have survived in the PL on less crowds than us. 2000 extra JCLs really isn't going to make much difference to our income. Espeically considering quite a few saints fans I know are nowing saying they're being priced out of going regularly now we're in the PL.
  14. yeah you kind of got that impression...how bored did the England fans look? Thats the difference between club and international football....saints games always leave my feeling something (dissapointment, happiness...something) England games (win, lose or draw) just make me feel...Meh
  15. Surely Scotland leaving basically signals the end of the Union I've always considered myself British rather than English so if the SNP was to dismantle my country ...shouldn't I get a vote about it? Wonder if the break up of the Uk would end up as nasty as the break up of Yugoslavia...although that would take more effort than your average Brition could be arsed with.
  16. Surely the Orkneys should ask to become part of Norway..like they once were
  17. Always a good idea to follow ones own advice....
  18. Well we looked pretty average to say the least...hopefully the players were just saving themselves for the proper games. Never really looked like we were going to score after the first 15 mins.
  19. I thought Hudders where destined to be the bridesmaid and never the bride. Sheff Utd favorites to win league one next season then.
  20. yeah I'm in block 19 so looks like I'll be moving one over (though I'm still deciding whether to renew or not) to block 20 to save money.
  21. I worked with a guy ( who has just left) who stopped going when we were out of the Prem, managed to blag a ticket to the JPT final (the only game he went to while we were out of the PL as far as I can tell), and started talking about getting an ST if we got back to the PL in the last few months. Personally I'm a bit of a glory seeker and started going more after we dropped out of the PL right up to getting a ST now I'm wrestling with the decision of whether to go less now we're in the PL...funny old world
  22. [ Only free if you have 2 paying adults now last season it was one free with each paying adult.
  23. LOL yep total football
  24. And now it all becomes clear NC has someone else lined up...... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18202900
