Saints vs Derby - FA Cup 3rd Round Replay Thread
captainchris replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
Does anyone have the foggiest idea what that goalkeeping coach of ours actually does btw.... I can see no evidence what so ever that he ever coached or prepares our goalies at all. Gunn’s one sided no idea efforts for the pens were not very good. -

I think I saw Gallagher breaking into a walk at one point ! A very lazy performance from him and you would have thought he would be working hard to impress. Sorry effort along with several others. Ralph will have learnt a lot and good luck to him, he will have worked a minor miracle coaching the group of players he has available to stay up. -

I’m not sure Gallagher has actually touched the ball and is strolling. -

We will need to rest most of the team so a few youngsters is fine. The back three is difficult as not sure who else is ready to step up but at the same time do we want to risk injury to only three first team back three we have. I’d say not. No risks for me, the league is our priority. -

Well your last line is entirely accurate thank you. If you look at his whole game particularly when he is not in possession it could be better. He can and does hide at times. -

Agree with all that. Inc Armstrong who has been lacking in several games contrary to opinion of several on here. Ralph is immense with a full understanding of the game. -
Can’t help but agree with this argument, we do seem to have been very hasty to get rid when we are in a predicament with strikers.
-
Gazzaniga is a decent keeper and should not have been let go. Pochettino thinks he’s decent which confirms the fact. He was not given enough of a chance here. Forster was complete carp for about 40 games plus but was picked relentlessly.... Too many posters who are headline populist ball watchers on here.
-
Bertrand has played there and performed well hasn’t he? Could be an option though we are very light there now for sure.
-
If you are watching Wolves v Liverpool that’s how you press high up the pitch.
-
A very interesting scenario, however it would appear that he wasn’t wishing to get on the train.... This has been spelt out as Ralph’s priority when making team selection decisions and the future. Couple this scenario with some pretty poor performances and I think we can put two and two together on this. If you want to be part of the journey you have to be on the train - it appears some - as promised were left behind.
-
Obefami actualy looks to have settled into the first team very quickly. I think Ralph has a high regard for him now. Once back he could figure quite prominently.
-
Yes both Cedric and Stephens ! It is something our team do rather a lot. Not sure it’s acceptable. In fact it’s not acceptable...
-
Without doubt ! There was very little sign of it. Ok I only watched from 30mins where there was none from the front.
-
Well I didn’t see pressing from the front hardly at all. Still it’s a very young team ....
-
A pedantic observation.
-
Wanyama is a super player and so much better than Romeu, however I doubt Centre Mid is high on our priority list. Shame he would be wasted at WBA....
-
The problem is though that we have not enough support for the man on the ball. This is the main reason we continue to lose procession. The likes of City crowd round the ball when out of pocession and also in procession too.

totally sensible comment,

I wasn’t impressed with Dave going on and on about Ralph not playing his strongest players today. Very disingenuous to Ralph who has a completely knackered squad does he not see such obvious matters!! Urgggghhh
