I did like the half time music selection: God save the Queen 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Not sure about the rest of the evening.

The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.

That is interesting. My niece and her boyfriend have just moved into the constituency from central Bristol. A teacher and a psychologist there is no way that they would vote for JRM. A lot of supposedly safe Tory seats like this one would be vulnerable with a "progressive pact" if they are typical of the demographic changes taking place. -

If the anti Tory vote could get its act together, his (North East Somerset) is the sort of constituency that the Tories could lose. At the last election the "Progressive" vote was split between Labour, Lib Dem and Green. JRM received just over 50% of the vote as there was no alternative to him for right wing voters. A few more widely publicised idiotic statements from JRM will lose him some votes. A few more educated young professionals moving into the area would increase the progressive vote in his constituency. His seat however is really only vulnerable if Labour / Lib Dem / Greens can decide which one of them gets a free run at the next election. I am not sure if they will come to such an arrangement but wouldn't it be nice to see the "member for the 19th century" out of Parliament and left to spend his time counting his money. -

So what could Labour do to appeal to you? -

2 reasons why he wins elections: 1. He has charisma and knows how to play the public . The upper class toff who comes out with funny remarks has always been appealing to the English public. Eg Hugh Grant. He knows how to play this role. Unfortunately for him this image has a shelf life. 3 years into his Premiership he is approaching the end of his. People get tired of this persona and expect better of their leaders. Liars lose their appeal - even when lying in a posh voice. The Tories lost 500 council seats under him, will most likely 2 more seats in upcoming by elections and will lose the next election if he is still leader. 2. The opposition was headed by Jeremy Corbyn. A one legend man is more likely to win an arse kicking competition than Corbyn becoming Prime Minister. -

You can see what will happen. Staff numbers at places like the Passport Office will be cut. The service will get even worse and then JRM or Priti Patel will decide that the service will be provided by a private company . A private company whose shareholders are mates of the Tories / drinking buddies of Hancock etc etc -
Any excuse for a spot of daytime drinking eh? Just don't drink too much this time and make a fool of yourself.

Until March 2018 Leigh Anderson was a member of the Labour party. A Labour local councillor he defected to the Tories and became an MP. A quick Google of his views indicates that there are a lot of categories of people that he doesn't like. A narcissistic nasty piece of work, he would probably fit in well in the current Conservative cabinet. -
I don't disagree but what is the latest re her?

What a ridiculous question. It is perfectly natural for a 50 year old Cabinet Minister dressed like this to go dancing in an Aberdeen nightclub. I am sure that JRM does it all the time. https://youtu.be/toYL4jjl4q4 -
How long do you expect to live? More than 100 years? I would have thought that 100-1 was a perfect match for "once in a lifetime".

Thanks. So there are not convicted criminalS sitting in Parliament. There was 1 MP who left office 3 years ago and 1 now who is appealing (as she is fully entitled to ) against her conviction. People do "give a toss" as they were both suspended from their parties. It is hardly a thieves's kitchen. 😁 -

Out of interest who are the convicted criminals currently sitting in Parliament? Imran Khan the Wakefield MP resigned as soon as he was convicted. Who are the other convicted criminals? -

They are struggling... and the more they flounder, the worse the damage to the Conservative party. If they had any sense Tory MPs would sack Johnson tomorrow and try to rebuild their party. -

I don't know why the police are bothering to investigate Starmer. Duckie knows what went on. I often thought that Duckie had a bit of the pigeon lover General Melchett about him. 😁 -
Listened to a lot of Radio 5 over the weekend. It was reassuring that nobody ever mentioned us being a contender for relegation .... Or is it???

Was Ralph told by the new owners just before the Villa game that he was to be replaced? He lost interest, became a dead man walking and his lethargy has spread to the players.

"I refer the honourable member to the post that I made earlier this morning highlighting the number of parties that have been held and Johnson's frequent denials." 🙂 Tbh I think that the damage has been done to Johnson's reputation. Everybody in the country knows that he is a liar and the image of the Tory party is not going to be changed whilst he is still leader. -

Isn't this the crux of the issue? Johnson has consistently lied to Parliament about there being parties and whether he attended them. He has lied. Everybody knows that he has lied. Having a liar as leader is not a good look for a political party. It is why the Tories lost 500 seats in the local elections. The loss of integrity is doing damage to the Conservative image and is why the Tories should get rid. -

The scales of justice are somewhat tilted. On the one hand a bloke had a beer and curry after working. On the other : -
Think that Tella is unlucky to be left out. Hopefully he will be the impact sub who scores the winner.

I wonder who will be the first political interviewer to challenge a Tory who comes out with the bullshit that "Johnson got Brexit done". It is one of the favourite lines of Johnson defenders yet the current situation in N Ireland shows that the eternal Brexit issue of N Ireland has not been resolved. Johnson's lies and evasion on this issue are breathtaking. To say that Johnson has got Brexit done is as true as "Saints are challenging for a Champions League place". On Radio 4 this morning Zahawi was challenged on another one of the Tory lies (Johnson got the big Covid decisions right). He didn't put up much of a defense . He was probably surprised that someone from the BBC was challenging the bullshit. I can't see the BBC having the balls to challenge this Brexit bullshit as long as Mad Nad sabre rattles about the licence fee. Channel 4 are similarly intimidated. Perhaps it will be down to Peston.
