The media vs Nick Illingsworth & Richard Chorley
SaintRobbie replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
I have to say I actually agree with that. Point of my post was to point out that Nick has unfortunately lost credibility and yes a fresh face would certainly help, although his heart is in the right place his credibility is unfortunately shot. We need a clean sweep in every area of this club. Those that came and raised their heads above the parapet before MLT and Pinnacle ALL need to bury their heads for their failures. Its time for a real change. I hope someone else does come forward, but agree that whoever does is unlikely to unite the fans entirely. -
2 acually! Who'd have thought Norwich!?!

I think they 'served no purpose whatsoever' is sadly more closer to the truth. Ineffective and frankly now without credibility as a result. -
Blimey we'll be selling Season Tickets next!

I think this is shall we say... boolllox.

So you said. I expect you may be right. Shame though.

The media vs Nick Illingsworth & Richard Chorley

Looking at the fans reactions to Nick's comments and knowing that many of us were disappointed in how poorly he stood up to Lowe last season, whilst always seemingly being closer to the last Club leadership (along with others) than he really ought to have been I would advise Nick stops contributing to the debate. Nick failed to do anything to stop Lowe's plan last summer. I suspect the Illingsworth's are the type of commentators who should fade away under the new regime. Many percieve them (rightly or wrongly) as being too passive toward the last regime and having wasted their positions to oppose Lowe's daft policies. Frankly Illingsworth could as easily be associated with the previous regimes failure as anyone...not a fair call but... perceptions are key when rebuilding optimism under new leadership. Illingsworth should regard himself as part of the clean sweep. Nick - I suggest you avoid the limelight anymore. You were part of the old plc-Saints era. We need a new start all round... including fans leaders. You are not a unifying figure. Just read the comments. I suggest Nick sticks to watching games and commentating on players. He has proven he lacks the depth or courage for a strategic fight by failing to confront Lowe or muster support. Time for the Illingsworths of the world to relegate themselves back to the terraces. -
I would prefer to see MLT as chairman rather than manager. I would assume he would be ably supported by a CEO so he would be making decision based on the good of the club as a whole rather than Lowe's daft plc as a priority policy.

Strachen will not come back to Saints - would love him of course but... dream on We need someone who can get us out of the league. I am sure Nick would be happy enough to go for any manager with CCC or higher experience provided they understood League 1 too. We need to get out of League 1 and have someone with stretch potential to the Premiership over time. But fundamentally, you cant escape League 1 without someone who understands the teams and players etc in the league. So, essentially he's right. -
Paul Ince would still be my preference - young, hungry, ambitious, knows the league and out to prove himself again.

Nick and Richard are spot on - we need an experienced manager who knows League 1 and has desire. But most importantly we need to lose the last of Lowe's henchmen for good. -
I think the actions of the fans staying away were a contributing factor to Lowe's very quick removal by the bank once he bounced the cheques. Some may recall that Barclays stated that one of the reasons for calling in administration was due to Lowe's failure to deliver an increase in gates. So actually, Stanley has a point. Was it right to stay away? Who knows. But against such a stubborn enemy as Lowe it certainly was a contributing factor to his final removal forever.

LOL!!! They got it right eventually... thanks also to Leon Crouch's generous donation.

'Delisting the plc'........................ What a fantastic day!
-
LOL! Although I wouldnt put myself as a better fan than anyone who supports Saints. A fan is a fan, stay away or fanatic. I do love this club, even more now that we're about to say a final farewell to the plc, are owned effectively by one owner, have previous greats back in the club, no debts, a more or less united fan base and an opportunity to finally build this club for the good of those who support it and not Mr Lowe's shareholders. Ahhhh..... all those posts campaigning for a takeover from one wealthy owner and a return to a time when the Greats returned and so did optimism. Smells great... then they send me to blooming Cyprus for a couple of years! Still when I return I confidently predict CCC football and heading up...! Future is bright. (Just need a manager and to sack Wotte for good now!)

Here Here!

It will cost us 6 men and a really good manager IMHO. How much is that?

Stu, Methinks so many lessons have been learnt on how NOT to run a football club with Lowe that the owners will be warned against all sorts of mistakes and courses of action by us all. I think that lesson 1 has to be listen to the fans - especially the more sensible ones! We all told Lowe on this forum and its predecessor when he was about to make another **** up. I hope the new owners can heed some of that advice. MLT gets it, he's been monitoring this messageboard for years.

Leyton Orient call us cheats and want us in Div 2
SaintRobbie replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Yes, I'd expect sympathy if he really knew the effect Lowe has had on this club. -
Perhaps we should remain patient. I would hate him to be exposed too early and lose heart in the media frenzy that may follow.

For those who won't be getting a season ticket next year
SaintRobbie replied to Mole's topic in The Saints
He has a point though 19. You do seem to want to ruin any positive thread on the future with less than constructive opinion. We know you'd prefer Lowe and his policies back but to be honest can you not now ditch him and give the takeover a chance like the rest of us? -
I have to say one word of caution, whilst I would prefer MLT to Wotte as manager please dont do it Matt. Experienced manager needed.
-
No - I think I would prefer our rich new owner to sell to an even richer new owner. Fans trust to own the club would never generate enough money to stay in the league let alone League 1. It would cause further disunity.
