I think we do in the Programmes, but I think forums like this are better for saluting fans. The OS needs to be upbeat and positive, whilst we all try to be when celebrating someones life after their sad death it is still a downbeat and sad story. So I say, not for the OS, yes for match programmes and definitely for this sort of messageboard.

I am sorry but you have to assess Wotte holistically for his contribution to Saints demise to League 1. It starts with telling Lowe last summer [was it only a year ago it seems so much more given the pain produced by Lowe's final season in charge?] that youth total footy would work. HIS policy of playing youth under JP failed. He took control of the team and did a little better having changed the goalposts and introducing experience which worked for a time. He then FAILED to motivate the team or display enough knowledge of the league or tactical acumen to maintain the slightly more experienced team in the league and relegated us. Meantime he also backed Lowe wholeheartedly against the fans by criticising our support for Lowe and the failing club playing policy. He has remained and kept the team 'together' and said some more constructive things since, but he knows he is about to be sacked and to be fair he is simply waiting for his severence payment. Well, if he had a decent or honorable bone in his body - given his utter failure in every aspect of his contribution to Lowe relegation Season 2 - he would resign (a la JP) before taking a further penny from this club. The man is a fraud, not as respected as you may think by the players and has only ever relegated teams or left under interesting circumstances. So, given that track record, methinks it IS more Wotte's fault than ANY remaining architect of Saints downfall currently at the club. He MUST go. And if he has an ounce of honour he must resign rather than wait for a payoff.

Is SMS built on an ancient burial ground ...

The only curse on Southampton FC was Lowe. It was lifted by Barclays Bank plc, God bless them! Exorcists they are! -
Barclays removed Lowe. We now have a new owner. I like Barclays

assuming the deal goes to completion....

I dont really care - but would like to know how much we've got to spend on players. We have some serious men and a manager to buy if we want to get out of this league. -
God I hope not... we need to sack Wotte and start the rebuild asp now.
-
I think Wotte should do the decent thing and resign rather than waiting for his redundancy payment. Largely his fault we're relegated.
-
Paul Ince would still be my choice. Either way I wish Wotte would resign. Frankly hanging on for a redundancy payment after his record last year is a little rich methinks.

[/u] Good luck to them! Perhaps 19 will want to support them now instead of Andover

Told ya! Now let's enjoy the new era.

Andrew Surman.

LOL... no chance. Nice sentiment though.

I agree. No need for comment at this stage. We are at last seeing some professionalism in the way an important boardroom deal is being done. Last thing we need is an ex boardmember stirring things up. Everyone should remain quiet and patient.

Give him a break Art. He's just effectively offered to bail out Saints IF he is needed.

I think Shearer may fail as Newcastle manager if he stays - I think the Toon will not promote next season due to his lack of experience. So actually I suppose experience is the key as Shearer certainly has credibility. Mind you, having Ian Dowie nearby will help him.
-
Saints wont go into nonleague - we will be bought out very shortly. Keep the faith... though please sell sooner rather than later Mr Fry, big rebuild needed and a manager urgently required.
-
I've always been regular.

Shearer WAS about to become Saints manager at one stage. I think he was linked to the Saltz/Merrington consortium 6 months ago that mysteriously faded away.
-
MLT is our Shearer without management skills. Whoever takesover needs MLT firmly onside for any sort of unity to flourish. Respect is vested in very few at Southampton FC.
-
I'd love it if they stayed. A couple of men who need to prove themselves in a red and white shirt. All those two need is a manager to get the best out of them who does not advocate playing youth to his appallingly gullible chairman and keping them sidelined before then taking over himself and failing to provide any inspiration. BWP and Euell in League 1 would be a statement of intent by the club - simply, we are unlikely to get any better. Now lets watch BWP and Euell on their test of loyalty....

There are only Saints fans. We go forward united.

To be honest - its in our best interest to hope for Fry's price to fall. The lower he sells the more money available for team investment.
