  1. Good god don't give them any ideas.
  2. What this strike will achieve is that the deal that finally comes will be better for public sector workers then if they hadn't have bothered and just accepted it to begin with hands down. Surely that's the point of it.
  3. This was his best line; "I mean, how dare they go on strike when they've got these gilt-edged pensions that are going to be guaranteed while the rest of us have to work for a living" Comedy gold coming from him, I'm sure he'll be safe in retirement, bless his little cotton socks.
  4. I think he was referring to Kasper Schmeichel.
  5. The TO are being so slow it's unreal. The initial time window for the 1st ballot was far too long, in relaity only 2 weeks was needed, not a month. I do feel for the staff there though, as they are obviously being directed to by the OB.
  6. There are some great suggestions on the thread. Lets actually try and get them all going, rather than resorting to OWTSGMI at 200mph all game.
  7. "My old man, said be a pompey fan" needs to be sung. It's not heard these days anywhere near as much as it should be.
  8. Yes, as I wouldn't have extolled the virtues of privacy and confidentiality to them, as I would have ignored it ;-)
  9. Trousers is normally a sensible poster, but if I was the head I would have ignored that email. It will no doubt bring about a few laughs in the staff room tomorrow morning.
  10. This thread hasn't really gone the way dune had hoped, I imagine.
  11. Becasue it knows damn well that the pension cuts have nothing to do with finance.
  12. About half of the staff at the school I'm currently placed at are all in, no fuss at all from those who aren't.
  13. I'd hardly call an estimated 2 million little....
  14. Just as long as they hold off until at least December 19th.
  15. Cook for me.
  16. Hope Chaplow is fit for this one.
  17. Yeah but knowing my luck I'll retire one day and drop dead the ****ing next!
  18. When (if??!) the good times return, will you recieive the benefits? Will your company make an effort to reward you for your hard work and loyalty during the tough times? Genuine question. Because you can bet your bottom dollar that as soon as they return, I'm pretty sure the governement of the time won't be rushing to reinstate the pensions the public sector are currently receiving. They will only ever get worse, regardless of the economic climate.
  19. I'm astounded that dune/Turkish haven't jumped on this thread yet!
  20. Exactly, and the reason its not like that is because there are more then enough benefits to private sector work too. This one way envy and point scoring is nauseating.
  21. I would love to know who held a gun to the head of all these private sector and self employed workers? Everyone knows the potential benefits of certain jobs and people make a choice. If you choose to have a job with a crap pension or no holiday, that's up to you.
  22. We are the public sector, we'll strike when we want.
  23. I hate going to Bristol City, we never get anything down there. Their fans don't half get carried away though, all a bit embarrassing.
  24. And you don't think the massive oil companies won't jump on it in an instant?
