Eastwood and Tyson would both be good signings - they both have good track records in League 1 and scored lots of goals at this level. I'd think about getting them both in on loan. Eastwood as cover for Lambert and Tyson to replace Waigo.
-
I'd take him back he can play on the left or in the middle - in either a 3 man or 4 man midfield. He can also cover at left back he's also a great passer of the ball - and with Lallana, Schneiderlin and Lambert would take our passing up a level he's a Saint and would definately playfor the shirt he's a level above League 1 that's for sure
-
its worth remembering that both Hudderfield and Swindon have wealthy owners - not in Liebherrs bracket - but still wealthy - and both clubs have spent quite a lot of money over the last few season for this division. I can only see players leaving those two clubs for clubs in the CCC - and mostly because Swindon and Hudds wont and dont need to sell to a promotion rival - sorry!

It seems AA is trying to fix the vote on accepting the CVA by counting a debt to Pompey from Cantberbury (the kit sponsor/supplier that went bust) as a debt from Pompey to Canterbury - meaning they are actually £4million better off than they pretend to be - and this £4 million reduces the % of the debt owed to HMRC and there ability to vote against the CVA. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/may/14/portsmouth-debt-administration-missing-funds HMRC have reserved the right to challenge AA's position as administrator - and if the CVA gets passed I can see them doing this! Reading between the lines it looks as though HMRC are determined not to let Pompey get away with it. At the very least Pompey should start next season with a points reduction and be forced to use all of the 4 years parchute payment to pay-off their debts. Still nice new away shirt for them - wasn't pink on of their original kit colurs!?
-
Surely Oakley would be the cover for Schneiderlin that we lack so badly - and a replacement for Hammond if we want to sit on a lead as for signing Saints fans - it's a good idea - as least we know they will want to play for the shirt!
-
Stoke and Pulis owe us a big favour after we signed Junior Pulis in my book
-
I'd rather have Matthew Oakley back - who is the same age and a better player - and if rumours our correct could be leaving Leicester this summer. He might come back just to get his testimonial - he was here for 12 years or something like that!
-
the panels are clear to let more sunlight on to the pitch - or so I always thought - so they probably can't be changed much really otherwise great ideas
-
a wage restriction for the whole squad based on a % of a clubs turnover would work - its already applied in League 2 and other countries - and it would encourage clubs to manage their squads better I'd still like to see a maximum weekly wage though so clubs like Man Utd, Citeh and Chelsea can't just buy the league! there still have bigger and better sqauds based on their turnovers - but they wouldn't be able to have 25 players on £100K plus a week along with the qoutas for first team squads - minimum number of home grown players a maximum number of foreign players - it would make football a lot more competitive. its the way American sport is run - with the worst team getting the first pick on the NFL draft for example as well as salary caps football is a sport and sport is not business! its a cultural things like art!

Someone has leaked West Ham's palyers wages! Naughty Naughty! take a look: http://www.football-rumours.com/whufc.php When you see players like Boa Morte and Gabbidon are on £70K and £50K per week respectively you know football has gone made. Both are CCC standard players nowadays! None of the WHU players should be on more than £30K a week given the size of the club. Football needs a salary cap - both in terms of a weekly wage for players and as a % of clubs annual turnover - say £50K and 60%. The players are eating the game - biting the very hand that feeds them! I know its not Saints related - but I thought we'd all be interested!
-
Freddie Eastwood as an alternative to Lambert? Now that Coventry failed to get promoted within 2 years Sansom and SISU are going to want their money back! They've already sacked the manager and sold a few players. Nathan Tyson from Forest to give us some pace? Forest gave got far too many strikers. Both have been top scorers in League 1 in the past I believe. I think we'll take a look at Adam Le Fondre and Simeon Jackson though. And I have a feeling Connolly, Waigo and maybe even Barnard will leave.

Your too young to remember a Tory government I take it then!?!
-
Depressingly the English on their own probably would elect a Conservative government with a huge majority - partly due to the first past the post system we have. However the conservatives are really the UKIP and the BNP by another name. They are a party that believe in the United Kingdom and Britain. Clegg and Cameron, Osborne and Redwood are from the British ruling class - Eton, Harrow, Winchester, Oxford, Cambridge and St Andrews! I bet most Scots would bite your hand-off right now if you offered them full devolution! It's a shame we can't devolve England from the UK and the British!
-
You do realize over 60% of the people voted against the Tory's. And in Southampton the majority voted for Labour.
-
Did you live through the 80s and early 90s - the loss of our manufacturing industry, the widening of the poverty gap, the massive increase in the jobless, the poor and the abandoned! Even a decade of Labour government failed to do more than scratch the surface of the damage Thatchet and the Tories did to this country!
-
You do realize we are now ruled by people straight from the playing fields of Eton! Quite literally. Both Cameron and Clegg went to Eton and both were members of the Bullingdon Club at Oxford! The ruling class has returned!
-
Schafenfraude! the Germans have a word for it! the enjoyment of others misfortune or dismay! Teutonic!

I just spoke to a friend who works at the printers - as far as he know they printed 5000 programmes on Friday and there was nothing wrong with them he also said he read AP's notes - or whatever its called - and he doesn't think it said anything bad - other than disappointed not to make the play-off - and stuff about building for next season there could be a commercial reason - and advertiser or sponsor asking for it to be pulled because of something wrong with an ad - its happened to magazines before - and I worked somewhere a long time ago where 50,000 + brochures were dumped because somebody's name had been mis-spelt as a rude word!
-
I think Glen Hoddle was lined up to take the job when Sturrock got sacked - but Lowe chickened out at the last minute in the face of opposition from other directors and fans I have been told that Mark Hughes has been lined up to replace Pardew - and by someone that does have some good contacts - but I not sure I believed it then or now For one thing I'm not sure Mark Hughes is any better than AP and for another I can't see Hughes dropping down to League 1 plus he's already rejected the chance to manage Saints when we were in the Premier League according to some people as it was too far South and he wanted to stay in the North West
-
Let's get him in on loan if nothing else
-
Yep - but that only accounts for roughly the first years parachute payment of £16 million I still think AA is counting that as revenue in his annual figure though. He's almost as bad as Storrie in the way the way he twists things around so much that the truth gets lost If the parachute payment is extended to 4 years it still gives them another £48 million of guaranteed revenue to play with though
-
I got the feeling AA was counting on the parachute payments as revenue Surely any money they make from players sales this summer and any guaranteed future income - i.e. the parachute payments - should be used to pay their debts
-
I don't think anyone really knows what players will be going where yet - except for the odd exception such as Chamakh. Surely at this stage its more about which players we think will be leaving - and players we might be looking at. For my part I think Connolly, Poke, Lancashire, Waigo, Thomas, Jaidi, Pulis, Perry, Wotton, Murty, Forecast, Molyneux, Holmes, Gillett and James will be leaving Saints for various reasons this summer. As for possible signings I think we are looking at Simeon Jackson, Albert Adomah and obviously Michail Antonio. I also wouldn't be surprised if we considered bringing back Neal Trotman and Jacob Mellis. I also have a feeling we might be looking at Nathan Tyson. Obviously a lot of this will depend on whether Pardew stays with us for next seasopn. People have obviously linked us with Mullins and Reo-Coker as they were key players for AP at West Ham and both look likely to leave their current clubs. For similar reasons Thierry Racon and Nicky Bailey at Charlton have been suggested if Charlton don't go up.
-
OK - own up who's been making up all the transfer rumours about Saints on http://www.football-rumours.co.uk/ ? Anyone would think we are billionaires or something!? Oh we are!! There are some really bad ones on there - particularly from yesterday! Players we really don't want or need - and loads of players I've never heard of before! Mind you there are not as funny as the Liverpool or Man Utd rumours - most of their fans seem to be completely delusional about the financial states their clubs are in! I don't know why I look at the site really - I guess its just for entertainment!

lets not start likening Cortese to Lowe! please no! Lowe admitted he was not a football man - but a jolly hocky sticks, rugby loving fox hunting member of the upper classes - which means he knew nothing about football and looked down on us not even as customers but a captured market to be made mugs off! I doubt they even played football as his school - probably such stupid version of the Eton Wall Game! Now Cortese is a Swiss Italian - which probably means he grew up playing and watching football - so he probably knows as much about football as most Saints fans. He's also hinted that he's been involved in sports finance before - so he probably know's about the business side of sport than Lowe as well! lets not confuse Lowe with a good businessman - he was a City Boy - and hopefully we've all learnt by now that they actually know very little about business but an awful lot about taking other people money and taking big bonuses for nothing! its easy to captain a ship when the wind is blowing in the right direction - but as soon as we hit a storm and saw some rocks Lowe was out of his depth (a paddling pool with water wings on) so far Corteses has shown more business know how and an better understanding of the fans in one season than Lowe ever did in his ten now Pardew hasn't done a bad job, but he hasn't done a great job either - and at one stage the play-offs looked very possible - so it is disappointing for all that we didn't make it and AP has to take the blame for that as manager (at times he got the tactics wrong, at times the team selections and the substitutes) And NC is right to ask some difficult questions as to why we failed to make the play-offs I'd expect answers to those questions - and good ones - if I was NC - not excuses - but I would give AP at least another season to prove he is the right man in the right job at the right time if the answers he gives are just excuses maybe NC is right to look for a replacement part of the problem is I think the goalposts moved during the season - from a top half finish to a play-off place - and money was spent on this basis in January but then I think both AP and NC underestimated how much of a rebuild the team needed at the start of the season! if we stick with AP, keep the core of the team and invest in strengthening the squad we will go up next season anything less than that and we are rolling the dice a bit and hoping for some luck!
