perhaps we should be - Bournemouth should be a nice 6 points and two home games! Besides our goal difference will take a real boost from those 2 games! It will be interesting to see if the 'mouth can keep hold of Pitman and their other good player!

I think in 5 years time we will be in the Premier League and looking to finish mid table. It will take us 2 years to get back to the CCC - and 2 years from that to get back to the Premiership But this is only if Cortese and Liebherr invest enough money in the squad to do it in this timescale (I reckon it would take £15 million on top of the £15 million they spent on buying the club) (once back in the PL though it would take at least another £30 million spent on players in the first season to keep us there) I also think we will be playing at an enlarged St Mary's with a capacity of somewhere between 40-45K I've always thought Saints don't play enough on the fact that with Charlie Miller we gave football to Brazil a pre-season friendly with Brazil at some point over the next couple of years should really be used to highlight this fact and we should play on it to position ourselves as a bigger club also as probably the only Premiership club south and west of London (if we get there) we will have a huge potential catchment area for corporate hospitality, neutral watchers and future supporters we should also focus on being the club of Wessex - not just of Hampshire proper! How about "the Saints, the spirit of Southampton, the Lords of the South Coast, the Kings of Wessex and the Pride of the South" as an unofficial strap line! key to it all though is building the right squad - a good crop of home grown local boys brought through the academy with a sense of pride and place - added to with one or two big signings from abroad (Brazil, Argentina, etc) should do it!! signing bright young players from Brazil and Argentina has certainly worked as a business model for clubs like Sporting Lisbon and Benfica in Portugal - so I don't see why it wouldn't work for us there is no reason why - if we get the scouting network in place and play upon our connection with Brazilian football - we couldn't sign the next Kaka, Kerlon, Pato or Keirrison before he becomes a world star

It was Leyton Orient in the third tier for f*ck sake - if I didn't have a season ticket or a freebie in corporate hospitality (as I did today) I probably wouldn't have gone! That's the problem with being in this sh***y division! Saying that I probably wouldn't have bothered for Hull or Wigan either!!

A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO THE FANS FOR YOUR SUPPORT................Not!

I like the Carlisle idea big time!!! -
Their owners are worth several £100 million I believe. I used to work with a friend of one of them!

Things just keep getting better and better for Saints fans! There will be no StuRomseySaint at St Marys on Monday so we can all have a good time - wear our shirts with pride and wave our flags - without someone going on and on about all the bad things! You never know we might even win a game without our bad luck charm!

I don't think COYR has anything to do with the Saints Trust other than a link to Nick Illingsworth - in the same way as the Ugly Inside website. Other people not involved in the Saints Trust are involved in both TUI and COYR as I understand it I have to agree that Nick when doing things as COYR or TUI should probably leave the Saints Trust out of it - but I would guess its not always down to him but the bad journalists from the echo and to be honest I don't see that much difference between COYR with the Silverspoons fiasco and StuRomseySaint with his Green Man deal and his coaches both it seems were doing it for the benefit of their own pockets I would guess that practically all the money the Saints Trust raised was spent on buying shares in SLH plc - as that was its stated aim! Those shares became worthless when the company went into administration so there shouldn't be any money left From my memory Stu you attended the Saints Trust bar at least once - and by all accounts didn't take the opportunity to make your deep feelings known to any of the Trust committee who were there if I were you Stu I'd stop worrying about the Trust so much and focus on the thing you love above all else - StuRomseySaint!
-
Careful - you don't want to do anything for other Saints fans - at a profit or not - or you'll get StuRomseySaint going on and on at you for being a communist or a fifth columnist or something like that! Oh wait - this is StuRomseySaint organising it - so that's alright then!!! For the lads - and a few dollars more! On the serious side it's good to give Saints fans an alternative to the Travel Club, trains or their own car! The fact it's Stu doing it is just pure irony!

He was awesome today!

I didn't here any booing at all - but I did hear cheering for Cortese and Liebherr

Victoria that's kind of important information! You might went to tell everyone that bought a concession ticket that particular snippet!

Kanu and James are out of contract and therefore have no transfer value O'Hara, Dindane, Piquonnie, Owusu and Yebda are all on loan so they have no real transfer value to Pompey Boateng and Belhadji are really the only players they have on contract who have any real transfer value And they are probably only £2-3 million each given the state of the club (the vultures are circling) Utaka's wages are far too high - so he'll probably have to go on a free transfer if they can give him away Mullins, Webber, Diop, Ben Haim, Smith, Wilson et al are either all past it or Championship standard players so at best a couple of hundred grand each they'll be lucky to raise £10 million from what's left of their squad in the summer - all the big boys have already left

peak time ticket from London isn't cheap even if you have a rail card! peak day return from Winchester is £58 or something! Don't know what it is to Soton but Steve Grant will know - he sits in the same place on the train every day!

So who's received their wembley tickets in the post yet?
Rebel replied to saints_is_the_south's topic in The Saints
Got my 13! 10 from phase 1 in block 127 Row 35 & 36 (3 sat in the row in front though) and 3 in block 528 up in the gods from phase 2! My girlfriend asked me why I was so excited to be openning the post when I got home from work! -
The 2 pictures and the 2 people say it all really - about the difference between the 2 clubs!
-
losing to your teams biggest rivals always hurts - true! but the FA Cup defeat didn't hurt us as much as as you seem to think it did. Why? Because we outplayed you for 60 mins, because in O'Hara and Owusu you had 2 players on the pitch you should never have been allowed to sign - so in effect you had to cheat to beat us because it was there for everyone to see - your defence struggled against a League 1 team - and it was only thanks to James you were still in the game at half time - your team are going to get relegated -10 points or not because 5 or 6 of your team are on loan and won't be playing for you next season - whatever division you are in - and James and Kanu will probably be gone as well - and the team that's left will struggle ito avoid relegation in the CCC because it was your last hurrah! because we are a League 1 team - and it wasn't our first 11 because we'll do the double over you next season - or pass you on the way up to the CCC as you drop down to League 1 because nearly all of football is starting to despise your club for what's gone on off thte pitch and behind the scenes becase your dirty little club has become and embarassent to English football - and a laughing stock because you've proved you'll never be a big club because the future is bright - and its red and white!

I say we should sell Portsea Island to Sussex for £6.57 Portsmouth and Bognor Regis will make a lovely pair!

Code word 'Fish Paste' Secret Double Agent Storrie - your mission is complete. Please collect your rewards and retire to the Carribean. Excellent job! The Saint

Premier League should be two divisions of 18 teams with 4 going up and 4 going down below that a Southern League and a Northern League - both of two division of 18 salary cap on each club based on a % of turnover, and a player wage cap based on weekly wages - maximum of 50K a week sharing of gate receipts 60-40 per cent in favour of home team, more equal division of TV money - with money going to teams in Southern and Northern Leagues as well a British League cup (including Scotland and Ireland) transfer fees to be paid up front in cash ban on selling of players under 21 (maybe 23 even) qoutas for home grown players no foreign ownership - no unsecured debts - % of every club to be owned by supporters trusts

the ticket prices on the list of blocks on the OS contradict those on the seating plan and the list of categories! I am confused! And why can't people buy tickets online in Period 2!?! It doesn't make any sense!

Why is Pompey 'a fantastic football club'?
Rebel replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Lounge
its a myth - a Redknappism if you like. its dirty little club in a dirty little city - and that's the truth! they are probably more famous for the 657 crew than anything else in the real old world of football perhaps if they were selling out every week the myth of the 'best supporters in the world' could be believed but they're not - and its far from true - and the Pompey chimes is probably the most monotonous and moronic anthem in football - its not exactly blue moon or forever blowing bubbles is it!? -
Now that Chanrai has the stadium and supposedly a 15 year £1 million a year rental agreement with the Portsmouth FC I can see him putting the club into administration I suspect he has taken some cash out the of the club as well so on paper he has his £17 million back! The FA Premier League will pay the outstanding tax and National Insurance bill to HMRC out of Pompey's guaranteed parachute payments - well at least enough of it for HMRC to give the club a stay of execution until the end of the season! - but only on the condition Pompey go into administration! The club has in effect been trading whilst insolvent - which is against the law and something for which the directors could go to prison if the Financial Director I spoke to is to be believed. Hence Pompey's FD's resignation and reinstatment as a non-director! What were Storrie and Co doing signing Owusu and O'Hara on loan - and then Rocha and Tosic on a free when they were insolvent! Storries makes Lowe and Hone look good - and that's saying something!

Play-off semi final at Derby they kept us in the stands whilst the Derby fans celebrated their victory by calling us out for a fight on the pitch - must have been 20 or 30 minsutes and then when we got back to the coaches they kept us waiting for another hour whilst they tried to find and identify the one saints fan who had thrown something at the Derby fans on the pitch and for some reason the Derbyshire Police didn't appreciate me asking why they were wasting their time looking for one Saints fan when they should have been busy arresting all those nice Derby fans who had stormed onto the pitch and then there were the roadworks on the A34 on the way home - it made it a very very long night! still the £10 I paid the coach driver to drive through a massive puddle and soak a load of Derby fans standing at the side of the road to wave us off was probably the best tenner I've ever spent and at least Derby and their fans got what they deserved in the premier league - the worst top flight record ever!
