  1. McGoldrick did indeed play well today - but he is a second striker and we need a centre forward on the pitch at the same time With Surman, Gillett, Schneiderlin and James feeding the ball to Holmes, McGoldrick and Lallana with Pekhart feeding off them in return
  2. Have to agree with you there Smalls its all about momentum - and playing Cork and Pekhart would have kept that going - that feeling that the team was coming together and getting stronger and by all accounts Pekhart would give us the pace, power and goal instinct we are lacking upfront at the moment - in the same way Cork would have given us the pace we need at the back - or at least a young pair of legs!
  3. Pekhart is the answer as centre forward leading the line with McGoldrick in the whole as the second striker with a licence to roam then Lallana and Surman as the two wide midfielders putting in the crosses and through balls and with licence to get into the box to make the third man
  4. you have to like Poortvliet's honesty and love the fact he actually sees the saem problems as we do very different from Burley, Redknapp et al although I don't understand why he didn't play Cork or Perhart (and bought Pulis) lets hope he learns from his mistakes - I am confident he will though and one more thing - forget about Stern John - its Pekrhart that's the future (I hope)
  5. We definately have to bring in Cork and Pekhart and probably play Thomas instead of Killer Bialkowski Cork Thomas Perry ? Gillett Schneiderlin Lallana McGoldrick Surman Pekhart We desperately need a left back and I really don't understand why we brought in Pulis when the last thing we need is another midfielder - full backs to free up James and Surman to play in midfield would have made more sense
  6. Firstly Blackpool gave us a right old 1-0 thrashing - 4 times they got the ball across our goal line and we didn't do it even once saying that both McGoldrick and Lallana should have scored today - and on top of that I counted 4 occassions when a Saints players should have taken a shot but passed instead. Lallana should have scored in the first half - but he was far too casual with the goal at his mercy Gillett had a bad game today - but lets not forget he was our best player against Brum City on Tuesday Killer had a terrible game - both on the floor and in the air - there's no way he's is going to be our defensive kingpin this season Where were Cork and Pekhart? They would have made all the difference today - some pace at the back and a centre forward leading the line Also have to say Thomas and Cork probably would have made a better centre back pairing than Killer and Perry today and when and where are we going two get a right back and a left back to allow Surman and James to play in midfield where they belong?!?! I think Saints thought they'd walk this game and paid the price for that attitude I hope Jamie White's confidence hasn't been destroyed by giving away the penalty and getting substituted Jan made his first big mistakes today - in the team selection and in his substitutions
  7. Schneiderlin was playing in the whole when his best position is as the deep sitting playmaker or defensive midfieder - not his best game and no surprise he was substituted - still good on the ball though and can tackle Jack Cork was great and can play the ball out from the back Thomas can't - and once the other players had told him to stop trying to pass the long ball - leave it to the other players - and just keep it short and sweet his whole game got better. His first three passes - all long - gave the ball away! After that he won everything in the air and almost every tackle - his best game for a long time Lallana and Gillett were superb Lloyd James played much better at right back - still a midfielder though really same with Surman - who had a bad game but improved massively once he moved into the middle - he was too eager to get forward and create when palying at left back McGoldrick - a great second striker with a great football brain Wotton had a great game - led the team - tackled well - and he can pass as well! Joesph Mills had a great cameo as an attacking left back - definately one for the future the only thing we were missing was a centre forward to make the darting runs and get on the end of all the chances the other create - step forward Pekhart Outplayed and then outfought Brum City - can't ask for more than that - and it wasn't even our first team in personnel or position!
  8. lets hope they keep Leon Crouch, Mary Corbett and Michael Wilde away from the boardroom whoever they are false promises, leaks, infighting, briefings against each other, not so private phonecalls, saying one thing doing another - we can do without all that! personally I'd leave Lowe as Chairman for now, Cowan as MD and give Poortvliet the financial backing to bring in some great young players to add to the team we've got - not detract from it with big 'I Am' overpaid stars! as I've said before for the first time in a long time we have a clear strategy on and off the pitch
  9. Lets all laugh at Derby!!!! The first league victory this eason is all the sweeter for being over Derby - a team we outplayed in 3 games out of 4 two seasons ago and beat on away goals in the play-offs! So the win over them was well overdue! Have the Derby fans stormed on to the pitch yet!?! Chavtastic they were! Lets wish them lots of luck in maintaing their beaten record all season - and doing the double relegation!
  10. Its official: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=10475 The son of Alan Cork - signed on loan until January!
  11. Rebel

    Johan Djourou

if he is going to make it at Arsenal a season playing for Saints in the CCC would do him more good in the long run than a season at Rennes in France
  12. supposedly Sheff Weds and Celtic are interested in taking him on loan as well - so he will probably end up at one of those two as they've probably got more cash then us also the story seems to have disappeared from the Daily Mail website as well now
  13. Rebel

    Johan Djourou

forget to say because they have just signed Silvestre!
  14. Rebel

    Johan Djourou

Arsenal are thinking about sending Johan Djourou out on loan to Rennes - a 21 year old central defender - plays for Switzerland maybe we should take a look at him
  15. In the Daily Mail tomorrow it says we are getting defender Jack Cork on loan from Chelsea: "Chelsea are also on the verge of signing attacking midfielder Fabio Paim on a season-long loan from Sporting Lisbon and have loaned out former England Under 18 captain Jack Cork to Southampton until January 1." Wikipedia says: Jack Cork (born June 25, 1989) is a footballer currently contracted to Chelsea who spent the 2007/08 season on loan at S****horpe United. During the 2006-07 season he twice went on loan to Bournemouth. Cork is a versatile defender who can play anywhere across the back and can also play in the holding midfield role. He has also represented England at youth level, recently making his Under 19 debut against the Czech Republic[1], and has captained the Chelsea youth team. He has been at the club since the age of nine.[1] Lets see if its true!
  16. let hope he doesn't join us - the last thing we needed was another midfielder I'd rather we got a right back or left back and let Lloyd James and Andrew Surman play in their proper positions - midfield And at 24 (?) and still unproven it doesn't suggested he's any goog plus he's Tony Pulis' son and a Skate to boot! he will become the boo boy for all these reasons
  17. could mean BWP and/or John as off as well if we are talking about a new striker - although saying that we need one anyway with pace and power to make the darting runs down the channels and feed-off the through balls from Lallana I expect it will be a loan from a Premier team - Jay Simpson from Arsenal for example - or a cheap buy from lower league Holland As for a defender could this be the loan return of Baird from Fulham!? Personally I would have got rid of BWP, Dyer, John and Rasiak and kept Saga but there you go - that's football!
  18. Both Lowe and Hone - his two MDs/CEOs before Hoos were basically tyrants - they didn't listen to anyone and wanted total control of everything Jones - like Hoos, Oldknow and Cowan was simply a yes man all failed to do their jobs properly - speak up when necessary or listen to others when the time was right to do so
  19. can you just shoot yourself and get it over and done with
  20. if people are talking about Fulthorpe and Co he hasn't got the money himself and hasn't found any backers who have
  21. In the first half we played some great fooball and probably should have scored 2 or 3 goals. Brum City looked a bit shocked by our passing and movement and didn't really know what to do about it second half most of the young players ran out of steam and the older players (Perry and Killer) legs went Birmingham brought on Bent and Jerome and overran our defense both Surman and James were great going forward - but James in particular has a lot to learn about playing at right back the 4 best ball players on the pitch (Gillett, Schneiderlin, Lallana and Surman) were all in red and white stripes however we had nothing on the bench unlike Brum (where were Dyer and BWP?) As for Stern John he was off the pace today, playing a different beat and on a different wavelength to the youngsters his hold up play broke the rythm for a start and he kept laying the ball of to no one - and his pace and movement (as usual) just weren't there he also missed a free header! we need two full backs (two allow James and Surman to play in midfield) and a centre forward with pace
  22. if anyone offers £3 million - or even £1 million take the money and run I say!
  23. it's a bit of a surprise he's joining Watford really if its true as he not exactly going to fit their long ball 'hoof it' style he may move about a bit - but he's slow doing it and he's not exactly dominant in the air either is he - or aggressive enough to lead their line although immobile I would have thought John would have suited their style better (although I still expect him to end up at Stoke or Hull on loan once they realise they can't sign anyone else) then again he's not great in the air either!
  24. I think Wotton will play at centre back at times this season - one of the reasons we signed him is that he can cover all along the back 4 and in central midfield Thomas et al are almost certainly being left out to prevent them being cup tied we just can't afford to pay their wages for any longer than we have to
  25. so up to 1.5 million euros - so probably a couple of hundred thousand £s up front an 18 year old French international recommended by Georges Prost to us and us to him signed a 4 year deal will more than likely be sold to a bigger club in the premiership in a season or two for a lot more money than that sounds like a great deal to me certainly a far cry from the Rasiak, Euell, John, Skacel, Viafara and Saganowski deals then
