  1. 1 ??? How did I misquote ??? 2 Yes I will, but do you for one minute think I am the only person to "criticise" Pardew's Squad ??? 3 Doesn't mean much. It's the Teams on the pitch that play the match Some of our Away Matches Carlisle Drew 0-0 in front of 7000 Colchester Lost 1-2 in front of 8514 Brentford Drew 1-1 in front of 6501 Exeter Drew 1-1 in front of 7654 Wycombe Drew 0-0 in front of 6232 Tranmere Lost 1-2 in front of ??? That could be the problem, there are so few supporters, they think it's a training session
  2. At the start of the season, I would have agreed with you, but not now, and I I don't think Cortese shares that thought either Don't forget, it is the Team that Pardew ASSEMBLED, that have dropped points. ie Brighton, Exeter, Brentford, Wycombe, Tranmere Our current Squad should NOT have dropped points against that lot For the Squad that it is now, they have UNDERACHIEVED:cool:
  3. But, the Teams that DO make the play offs, will not have dropped as many "stupid" points as us, even allowing for our -10 (Unless of course you class Brighton (H), and Brentford, Exeter, Wycombe and Tranmere (A) points that we could not have been expected to get ???? I do not consider my argument tp be flawed. I maintain that Pardew's Enhanced Team(s) have UNDERACHIEVED since Nov onwards (as per 12 points from the matches noted above) Had Pardew been working with the SAME Squad that started the season, then I would agree that a mid table, or slightly higher, would have been respectable However, as many pundits have stated, he has had the best Squad in Div 1 at his disposal, certainly from Nov onwards:cool:
  4. I don't agree with that Play Off Teams do NOT drop the same no of stupid points that we have OK, we did not win for the first ten games, but by Xmas we were a lot closer to the Top Six than we now are Plus, since since Oct 15/11 Brighton (H) 1-3 26/1 Brentford (A) 1-1 6/2 Exeter (A) 1-1 23/2 Wycombe (A) 0-0 6/3 Tranmere (A) 1-2 That's the 12 points that would put us within reach o the Top Six That's points dropped SINCE Pardews assembled League Busters Why are people happy with second best, "the British Disease" What other country hails second best ??? "Here comes Britains No 1, finished 28th, but did a personnal best":-D:D
  5. At the start of the season, I agree, in minds of many,Promotion was a long shot BUT, by Xmas, we were still fairly close THEN Pardew started to BUY, and assembled a Squad that no one can say are not streets ahead of what we started off with We SHOULD have pushed on, got more points than our competitors, and be getting pretty close to sixth Instead of that, Pardew's "New" Team have never realistically challenged for a Top Six finish Why not ???? IMHO, they have underachieved Big Time, and now all they are waiting for is March 28th Winning the JPT, but dipping out on the Top Six by circa 2 points, is NOT the scenario I prefer Same old British mind set "Oh well, we tried, but coming 8th is pretty good you know No it isn't, Finishing in the Top Six is pretty good Cortese does not or will not like being second best, and anything less than Play Offs IS second best in his eyes He is a winner, he is not used to failure:cool:
  6. So you think that Pardew will have the same Squad of players for next season ??? Believe it or not, some of them are AMBITIOUS, and will not want to waste another season in Division One Still, if you cannot see anything wrong in being in the UK's Third rated League, then there's not much else to say:cool:
  7. I don't think so If you have a decent car, you expect it to perform well, not stop and start Pardew has been allowed to assemble a decent Squad, but they are underperforming. Why is that ?? Krap players ??? No Motivation ??? Possibly Tactics ??? On some occasions most definitely Cortese does not have the "British" disease of putting up with Second Best All I hear on here is that, compared to last season, people will be happy is we finish 7th. WHY ??? Last year was last year. The bad times ended when we were bought by M Leibherr. From that moment on, it was Positive Thinking In a few months time, when you are watching cricket, just reflect for a moment. For just tha extra bit of effort on the pitch, SINCE Pardew assembled HIS Squad, we could have made the Play Offs But, at least with YOUR outlook, you will be looking forward to another season in the Third level of UK Football Great Outlook that is:cool:
  8. Over reaction to a defeat v Tranmere, after watching the demolition of Walsall and Huddersfield ??? I don't think so Tha last 4-5 years ?? Easy, I started in the mid Fifties, so you've missed a few years An 18 year old ?? I wish. As I said above, my "history" started in the Fifties, and I've seen mich more of the Ups and Downs than you have my friend Winning at home, losing away. I'm very used to that too. You miss my point that re the quality of teams we drop points against Lawrie Mac ?? You are pretty close on that one. People seem to forget that he took over from Ted Bates when we were SIXTH in the League, then we all watched as his Team slid down the League to RELEGATION. That of course was glossed over by the (lucky) FA win over Manure a few seasons later I stand by what I said earlier. The Squad of players that Pardew now has is rated as very very good, yet they have Underachieved If you cannot see that, or will not question the results, then you must be very easily satisfied Apparently Cortese isn't quite as satisfied as you are:cool:
  9. And people like you amaze me You either can't or won't see that our current Team could and should have done much better than they have, and that all the stupid Draws that we have had, will prevent us being in the Play Offs THIS season That is not Impatience. It is a realistic view of the results obtained by Pardew's assembled Team. A team that destroyed both Walsall and Huddersfield yet failed abysmally at Tranmere If Pardew was still struggling with the Team he had at the START of the season, then I would agree with you But he is not, but his assembled "talented" side have underachieved big time
  10. I certainly can I just hope that you are still as happy when we are trolling around Division One again NEXT season, with the same old results on the same old ploughed fields WAS THAT OK ???
  11. True, and my point is that we have dropped far too many points SINCE Pardew assembled the current Squad Had he only assembled it yesterday, then, yes, the Play Offs are out of reach this season But they were NOT out of reach when the current Squad was assembled We have UNDERACHIEVED since then, and Cortese is very aware of it Winning the JPT and finishing SEVENTH will be FAILURE IMHO:cool:
  12. EVERY Team has bad decisions go against them at times BUT Good teams rise above that and STILL WIN Don't you realise, that the Team Pardew NOW has is punching well well below it's weight. ( we were closer to the Top Six at Xmas ) So why is that ??? Of course players should take some blame, but so should the man who prepares them for the match, ie Mr Pardew Chalk and Cheese Destroyed Huddersfield Failed to overcome a "lesser" Team PATHETIC:cool:
  13. The Team that takes the pitch is the Team Pardew picks, and I assume that HIS Team play to HIS tactics If not, then there is no point in him being there is there ??? HIS Team, playing to HIS tactics have lost to Teams like Tranmere, and you seem to think that that is acceptable ? It isn't, and Cortese thinks exactly the same Had we lost to Tranmere at the START of the season, ie, before Pardew REBUILT, then I could accept that the Team was not good enough But we now have a vastly superior Team to then, a Team good enough to hammer Walsall and destroy Huddersfield, and the yeaterday Something is very wrong, Pardew does not seem to have it for playing on inferior pitches against inferior Teams He, and we too, have been spoilt by playing our home matches on such a geat surface as StMary's OK, as you say, it is the first loss this year, but you forget to mention all the stupid DRAWS that we have had At 2 points a time, it is THAT that is going to cost us this season But it should NOT be the case. Player for Player, we ARE better than most of the rest. Pardew just does not have a clue how to play away from home IMHO
  14. Praise ??? How many points were we from 6th at Christmas ( before Pardew got his vastly better players ) ????? How many point are we from 6th as at now ???? ( Please advise what you want me to praise him for ) As for pointing out records, just look, all the Teams in the Top six are further away from us than before ..... they must also have got some points
  15. Basically, for being inept Other teams have bad decisions go against them, but still win We have NO LEADER on the pitch, and a bit of a weak lettuce on the side of it WHO built the Team ??? Who has failed to get a loud mouthed ****y individual, ie Bremner or Ball, that can DRIVE a Team on Sorry mate, Pardew took all the PRAISE for Walsall and Huddersfield Now, he has to take all the FLAK for the inability of HIS Team to overcome the Mighty Tranmere
  16. I don't think so It shows Frustration on his part, echoed by many of us The stark fact is that SINCE Pardew has aquired HIS Squad, the results, especially away from home have been poor I'm not interested in "it's a five year plan", "Pardew didn't have enough time at the start of the season" I'm talking about results SINCE he got HIS squad 5-1 v Walsall, 5-1 v Huddersfield, we played very very well 1-2 v Tranmere UNACCEPTABLE so who do you blame ??? NOT the doorman Pardew is to blame. With all the results going in our favour yesterday, we could have ended up 9 points from 6th (including game in hand ) I certainly don't have much heart for Leeds at St Mary's at the moment I'm now convinced that all they are interested in now is the 28th March:cool:
  17. David Gold (West Ham ) warning that a few other Clubs may go into Admin I have a sneaky feeling that the Premier League will NOT impose any points penalty against "one of their own" They have yet to comment on Pompey, BUT Just imagine the scenario if Man Utd ( debts circa £700M ) went into Admin:rolleyes:

  19. Valid comments Every Away Team Manager must now be giving their Groundsman very simple instructions .... GET A TRACTOR AND ROUGH UP THE PITCH If all our matches were at St Mary's, our FOOTBALL would carry the day Just my opinion I know, but what takes the edge off the last two results, is the fact that had we not dropped stupid points against very poor Teams, we WOULD be that much closer to the Top Six I personally think that we will miss out on the Play Offs by 3 points, which, when you compare that to the way we are NOW playing, will be a very bitter pill to swallow:cool:
  20. Great win v Walsall 5-1 So ........ AP to make just 5 changes tonight then ???
  21. OK, no problem, good luck to you, you "beat " the system as it was written Wish I had done the same, but it is "against" the spirit of how SFC wanted to sell the tickets isn't it ?? As I said, good luck to you, I am sure that you are not the only one to have done it that way:)
  22. OK, so you are saying that it is perfectly fair that a person who just went to the MK Dons game ONLY, can automatically claim a Wembley ticket NOW, yet a regular Fan, though not a ST holder, but who one who attends ALL League matches, has to wait until "General Sale " ???
  23. I agree. However, I think that this year is an exception. Saints WILL take massive support, but I doubt if the Powers that be would have even contemplated for anything over 40000 for both Teams They would not have even discussed a "contingency" plan Yet more poor Forward Thinking from the Prats that govern Football IMHO I reckon that SAints would have got close to 50000 attending the game, if it were allowed I would not be at all surprised to see Saints Fans in Carlisle's areas:D
  24. OK, I too am all for a "fair" system, but there are loopholes For example, if I recall correctly there were circa 29000 to see the Semi Lets say 11000 were ST holders Now, of the rest there were people who were attending St Mary's for the FIRST time, or for the first time in years because it was a big match. For just that one match, they are eligible for a Wembley ticket. In that context, is that fair ?? No system is perfect
