Any real benefit in shutting the chapel?
SaintRichmond replied to ooohTerryHurlock's topic in The Saints
FALSE ECONOMY IMHO By originally "closing" The Kingsland, Pi**ed off quite a few people, me included (My alternative seat was in the Itchen, but I hated it, the sun in your eyes was cr*p) Then, within the last few days, they "opened up" The Kingsland So, all they did was annoy quite a few people, and lose out on a gate of over 20000 IMHO I said at the time, BAD PLANNING, great for upsetting Fans The FA Cup IS still unique, and a crowd puller For me, looking at the Chapel, with no one in it was PATHETIC It won't happen again, because IF we get a Home tie in round 4, we will get well over 20000, no problem:D -
Really ??? IMHO, the MENTAL effect of losing would be devastating You get used to winning, but, as we know to our cost, you also can get used to losing It's a Mind Set:cool:

No thanks The cost of Asbestos lined Y-Fronts for the rest of the players at bath time would be too prohibitive IMHO

What news on ticket sales for the Luton match
SaintRichmond replied to brianoneils slidingtackle's topic in The Saints
I know it is only for League games, but under NORMAL conditions, there is a timeframe for ST holders to PURCHASE their seat for CUP games Exactly what happens in the Northam, most Northam fans will be in their usual seats I could understand the logic re the JPPaints Cup, but, even then, the Attendances have been far more than the Club thought it would be The magic of the FA Cup is still there, and the crowds will be as well "Enjoy the game from a different view" I expect I will, but what IS annoying, is that IF I had not bothered to Support the Saints by getting an alternative seat, as of Yesterday, I COULD have got my Kingsland seat THAT is what PI**ED me off:cool: -

Correct, but innitially available for Cup Games should I wish to purchase That is beside the point though People who NORMALLY go in the Kingsland were told that it was NOT going to be open so they purchased seats elsewhere THEN, at the eleventh hour, the Club declare those very sections OPEN Too late for those who already purchased seats elsewhere THAT is BAD planning IMHO:cool: -

The "constant moaning" I gave a past Chairman ( though justified) has S*d all to do with going to St Mary's to Cheer the Saints Had it been The Northam that was originally NOT open, and had you been forced to get a seat elsewhere, I assume you would have "shrugged your shoulders" if they opened up the Northam long after you too had purchased an alternative seat WHY should I be happy to look across to see my seat filled by another Would YOU be happy to look across from the Chapel to see YOUR Northam seat filled by another ?? When I bought my ST, I SELECTED where I wanted it. I do NOT want to be in the Itchen IF my ST Seat is belatedly declared available:cool: -
Why does speaking my mind class me as Paranoid ?????? I was called that before. Some time ago when Lowe was First ousted. I DARED to state on here that as long as he had ONE share ghe would be back. For saying that I was branded Paranoid Guess What .... He DID come back, I was proved NOT to be paranoid then, but no one retracted . I'm not paranoid now. I will bleat on about him as :cool:and when the case merits I still find it Laughable that even now, after all the things he did to OUR Club in nearly destroying us, people are sstill defending his corner As you think I am Paranoid my friend, I assume you are a Lowe Luvvie, or whatever the opposite of Paranoid is ???

Yes, I am a reasonable person Yes, the mortgage (arranged by Lowe) DID become a Millstone around our necks once we dropped out of the Prem, BUT, surely, Lowe the BUSINESSMAN should have prevented us from going DOWN HOW ????? By "Splashing out" circa £6M on Two centre backs who would have stabilised the defence £6M ..... against the Multi Millions that we lost from the Prem by being relegated Lowe the Businessman ????? You are having a laugh Easier for Leibherr to run St Mary's ????? Without a Mortgage ????? Yes, of course it is easier, but WHY did Lowe Mortgage our Brand New St Mary'sup to the hilt in the first place ??? The answer I suppose is because even after all the plaudits of how good a Businessman he was, he attracted £0 INVESTMENT in all the years he was stuck like a leech to us That's how good he was What DOES bear comparison is the simple fact that Leibherr/Cortese know FAR more about running a profitable Business than Lowe ever will as long as he has a hole in his 'Rser:cool:

From the moment that St Mary's rose from the wasteland, it was common knowledge that the ACCEESS Infrastructure was KR*P For a start, there is a redundant Railway line going rusty right outside the Kingsland stand, What could be easier to bring away supporters in by ??? But, ever since tSt Mary'sopened, NOTHING has been done to improve ways of getting to the ground. Going by the St Mary's Church route, it is a back street winding road which leads to the doors of the ground The Question to ask is WHY nothing has ever been done to improve ACCESS ????
-
You really believe that ?????? Lowe was SUPPOSED to be a Businessman. On that alone, Stoneham made financial sense. Far Far better sense than the "stand alone" St Mary's project St Mary's as a Stadium is GREAT, but "St Mary's" at Stoneham, with the other complexes would have made much more sense from a Business point of view IMHO, in times of strife ST MARY's DOES NOT SQUARE FINANCIALLY, as was proven a short time ago It is ironic to me that Leibherr & Cortese's First Statement was that St Mary's would be run as a BUSINEES, and are doing a very good job of it IMHO Whereas Lowe "The Businessman" failed abysmally to run St Mary's as a Business for well over TEN YEARS

I am pleased for you too You bought today, got the seats you wanted (most likely somebody's usual seat) ..... and so, you are right, there is no need for you to moan But their are other people, many of them, whether they are ST holders or not, who bought their ticket weeks ago, and were told that certain Blocks would NOT be open, and were offerred an alternative seat. I am one of those, and I am NOT happy, so I'm MOANING LIKE HELL Prima Donnas ??? I don't think you'd call me that if we ever met. Still, nice to know you are childish enough to be pleased at getting a seat normally filled by a ST holder. I assume you are NOT one, and therefore do not contribute to the Club Funds prior to the seasons start PS weap is spelt weep ..... Teacher will correct that when you go back:cool: -

I am very pleased for you I bought my ticket WEEKS ago, when the Club categorically stated that MY ST seat would NOT be available, as that section would NOT BE OPEN MORAL ????? NEVER EVER Buy your ticket in advance any more:cool: -

I am fully aware of that, I know ST's are for League games only. With respect, I think you are missing my point NORMALLY, having a ST means that you have "first refusal" for that seat for "extra" matches such as Cupmatches When I first enquired re having my usual seat for the FA Cup match, I was told that only half the ground would be open, and was offerred a comparable one in the Itchen. OK, no problem, I purchased one My gripe is that NOW, when the Club has finally realised that Demand far outweighs Supply, they are now opening up virtually ALL the ground, but that does not help all those that have purchased tickets in seats they do not normally sit in Whoever made the decision for a half open Stadium nedds their head examined IMHO They completely ignored the Support level that we have had at St Mary's, and they have completely ignored the fact that one "perk" of being a ST holder is that you can "claim" your same seat, and pay for it What would the Northam think, IF the Club decided to close it for a match, and move them to say the Chapel, THEN, closer to the match say that they are opening the Northam after all ??? NOT MANY HAPPY NORTHAMITES, I am sure -

SaintRichmond replied to brianoneils slidingtackle's topic in The Saints
Yes, count me in as being really PI**ED Off at NOT being able to claim my NORMAL (ST) seat in the Kingsland So much for buying EARLY If I had time, I could possibly change my ticket back from the Itchen to my usual one, but there is no guarentee that I would get the same one I AM NOT BEST PLEASED, and if anyone from Mr Cortese's Office reads this, then pass it on From such a "Professional" Office, this has been handled very very badly IMHO:cool: -
That is a crucial point Stoneham WAS a Multi Complex development, which would have allowed income throughout the year St Mary's IS a great Stadium, but a "stand alone" one, ie Income from Football only With excellent Road, Rail, and Airport facilities, I still cannot understand why the Stoneham project, if handled correctly, would have been more beneficial to Saints For some reason, Saints fans seem to think Stoneham is light years away fron Southampton, yet, even from the Civic Centre, it would have been quicker to get to the Stoneham Stadium. Bear in mind, from the Parks areas, you have to WALK to St Mary's:)

Would signings in January strengthen the team or upset the balance?
SaintRichmond replied to Son of Bob's topic in The Saints
The stark reality is, we HAVE to go all out for the play offs, AND get promoted WHY ?????? Because IF we do not go up, we will LOSE a lot of the present Squad to Teams in the CCC or higher FACT  -
How exactly do YOU get to St Mary's ??? Are you chauffer driven. If not, it's a fair old hike from any direction Southampton Central ??? Southampton Airport Parkway would have been closer to Stoneham As regards a "shuttle bus", it would have been quicker than walking to St Mary's is now Pubs ?? A fair few in Eastleigh etc I've never understood why people objected to Stoneham. Would have been much much easier to get to IMHO
-
Not in my book. He may very well have "fronted" a Committe that led to the construction of St Mary's, but in reality, he was more of a hindrance than a help Don't forget, he wasted the chance of a Multi Complex at Stoneham, with excellent Rail, Road and Air access And don't tell me it would have been harder to get to than trudging round the back streets of down town Southampton to get to the Stadium, with it's abysmal Road access, NO rail access even though a line is right outside the grouns, and the Airport is back where the Stoneham project would have been At best, in business terms, Lowe was no more than a Titular Head in respect of us getting St Mary's:cool:
