I don't want to labour the obvious, but how a woman looks is a sensitive issue. Take the piss out of them by all means, but unless you know someone will be cool with it, a decent comic doesn't have to go near their physical appearance. To you her condition may be "minor", but I doubt it is to her. Anyways, the topic has been done to death. It seems a number of us have different moral positions on this. Nowt wrong with that : )

Whitey's point is that jokes at the expense of anyone's appearance as a result of health issues are unnecessary. It's a good point which I agree with. If you, CB Fry or anyone else have different lines of acceptability to the likes of me and Whitey so be it, but his words have been hugely distorted.

I suspect that's been the case, but there's no way Russia would settle for that. Essentially it would restate the pre war status quo, and Putin will need a victory. Nobody is trying to "equate" illnesses. It's a simple point that Rock picked on her appearance unnecessarily, and I find it hard to see how anyone can't see that Rock was out of line. His "joke" caused offence to Jada, and pointing that out isn't "moralising", it's just highlighting what is obvious to some. You think Rock didn't do wrong, others disagree. I think it sensible we leave it there. What is undisputable though is that Smith should have laughed it off, and any issues dealt with sensibly (by his wife if she was that bothered about it) out of the public eye. The slap was ridiculous, and the rant embarrassing. Whether what we saw and heard were relationship related dynamics related being played out, or Smith related, I don't know but he's done himself no favours. Ironically his wife's career probably hasn't been helped by his misguided patriarchal behaviour either.

Taking the piss out of our friends and family is a a different ball game to it being done by some random person on live TV in front of millions. Rock made an error of judgment imo but it didn't justify Smith acting like a dick. As has been alluded to up there somewhere, ^^^^, Jada will have suffered more embarrassment by Smith's behavior than Rock's joke.

However you cut it, the "joke" was about her appearance flowing from a health issue. Whatever that health issue is, focusing on her appearance as a consequence of it, is unacceptable. Sure, Smith's reaction was pathetic and unacceptable, but I can't agree with condoning Rock's part in it.

Can't agree with that. If she was bald cos of chemo would making a joke out of it be OK? How about if she'd lost an arm, an eye? He was well out of order.

It's not right to say that he deserved a slap, but it's surprising that he hasn't been slaughtered for publicly humiliating a woman about her appearance / health issue, and disappointing that he hasn't got enough about him to have apologised. In Smith's shoes I suspect many of us would have "had a word" with Rock, but not with a slap and a rant, in public.

Yep, that wasn't fake. Looked it at first, but he had nothing to gain from staging it and then swearing on live. Plus, that speech was from the heart of someone who lost the plot in the moment, and regretted it.

Not for me, but the ability was there to have been. For whatever reason he's not played enough to consistently do what he's capable of. Amazing player all the same, and seeing him come out of nowhere and break through with us was good to see. George Best was amazing, and it's hard to imagine how good he'd have been if he'd been able to look after himself properly.

Got caught in possession and done for pace for their goal, but two assists. If his cross for his second assist was intended for Gordon, it was a brilliant bit of vision and delivery.
