I think that's right, at least the shift to a back 3.
-
5-0 now. Both wing backs have scored and all of the back 3 are youngsters Inc Valery, Lancashire on the bench. Encouraging.

The owners don't determine if a club probably in or around the relegation zone when the window opens, gets relegated. They've got to persuade decent players to join them in that position and hope that Howe can get them playing and winning. I just don't see them getting the players, particularly if they understand that if Newcastle stay up, they'll doubtless be upgraded in the summer window. It'll be greedy journeymen for me and I hope they go down.

The point is that your post almost pre-supposed he'd buy quality players and project them up the table. His track record though is to waste money on crap. Also, no decent players will join a relegation fight. I'd guess that he'll end up with what he's got and some greedy journey men.

That's about enough money to buy another Jordan Ibe, Jefferson Lerma, Ake, Solnke and Philip Billing. They're Howe type signings. I like Howe, but his transfer deals have been appalling.

I don't have covid!! Are you seriously saying that we should lockdown because there's a nasty cold going around?!
-
Ha!!! Fair enough mate. I hope you do the right thing and rebuild that wall!!

I'm sure Dave and JWP will be delighted that you've posted that on a forum.

Yep. They've gotten the masses to the point that they accept the unacceptable as acceptable. In doing that, those complaining about it are made out as the bad guys. That, with an untouchable majority, and piss weak opposition, ain't good. -
No, jobs still need doing and deadlines need meeting, but those inclined to put their feet up and still get paid could fill their boots.

Me and my wife were talking about this last night. Everyone I know who's had it bad has been double vaccinated with the Oxford vaccine. My wife has had it since we were at the iow festival, it disappeared for a week or so, but has bounced back with a vengeance. Weird stuff.

There's logic in that theory. Could see that happening, although I wouldn’t be surprised if Howe did well at Everton.

As outrageous is this is, nothing will come of it. Loads of these Tory MP's are new ish to the job and will want to stick around / progress so won't defy the whip. By the time of reckoning at the next GE this'll have been forgotten, but even if it were tomorrow, the Tory masses won't suddenly shift to Labour or the Liberals over this. -
Robbie Fowler was a poacher extraordinaire. I remember his performance for Cardiff down here. He didn't score that day, and he was a lazy sod, but his movement was something else and great to watch. On another day he could have had a hat trick. Rush was the same.

Good post, thank you. In a strange way, I don't mind reading ill informed or even ignorant posts as it highlights that we need to have the discussion, and allow people to share their experiences. If doing that just seeps a little into others, it could just save someone's life one day.

Yep. I remember a game at anfield in the late 80's. He gave their back 4 the run around, and capped it off with a goal from a diving header. Good player.

Cheers Lighthouse. It sent me into a spiral I couldn't get out of for about 18 months. It took a fair bit of help to get out of it, and ultimately I had to accept that worrying about the past won't change it, and only messes up the present and the future. He had many demons sadly and certain events in his life made it unmanageable to the point he seemingly only saw one way out. I know that I did not cause his problems though, and that I wasn't the man to solve them. Still a very sad situation and I will never dismiss a cry for help again. On the taking other people with you point, I think anyone with true intent of ending their life just focuses on the exit that they want and cannot look beyond that. Getting caught in the cross hairs of someone else's suicide is just horrid.

It reminds me of the old fashioned little and big man up front with one staying long and the other coming short. It's definitely a different approach to how Adams and Armstrong play together though.

Going back to your earlier post Del, I think the short answer is that when people are genuinely ill it'll usually either be obvious to them, or others that there's an issue. Where it becomes a problem is where someone cannot address an issue that is not noticed by others. People use the word depression wrongly. "Ralph has picked Redmond again that's so depressing", or "it's raining again, how depressing". The word gets misused to the point that many people don't understand what depression is. Anxiety is also misunderstood and the term misused. I grew up with a mum who was agoraphobic - acute anxiety of open spaces, to the point that she couldn't go outside the house. I remember going outside with her when she was working through it, the look of sheer panic, and the trembling, I'll never forget. One of kids MH issues include acute anxiety - she literally vomits in some situations, hyperventilates, gets (physically) hot at the thought of doing things, etc. That's actual anxiety, not just a bit of natural, or even irrational, fear. @sadoldgithas a good grip on this stuff and his posts on this thread make good reading. People with depression and/or anxiety often can't face life or the world; cannot bring themselves to get out of bed, or wash, or shower, or eat, or do anything. There could be issues of fear around it, or inadequacy, or other psychological issues, as well as a possible imbalance. It's a complex subject and I'm just grateful I'm not my mum or kid because it'd be hell. I get your point though that some people like a label. Having lived around MH all my life, and caring for an adult child who suffers, I can't fathom why anyone would seek out illnesses which can reduce quality of life as much as any physical disability. I'll finish with 3 points on this as this subject is close to home on many levels, and not an easy one for me. 1. People can be cunts to each other on here. I'm guilty of it. However, we don't know what's going on for other people and what may be intended as a bit of banter can hurt, in ways that we cannot imagine. 2. If anyone reaches out for help, offer the hand of friendship. If they say they're fine but you're not sure, ask again - the second answer can be the honest one. 3. Most importantly, do what you can - I had the GF of a friend phone me a few years ago asking me to call my friend as I was the only person he'd listen to. She was worried he'd do something silly. I did nothing and he hung himself the next day. Whether he'd still be alive if I called I don't know and never will.

Yep. My post that got moved contained nothing unpleasant, and to be fair, SOG's reply was respectful and well reasoned. I didn't respond as the thread had gone off the edge by then. It's a shame how it descended. MH needs to be discussed, and mens in particular. Loads of men top themselves daily. Many other suffer, many in silence. It's a sad situation if we can't discuss that civilly and with respect.

I blagged a job at the dell in the food stand in the milton. Had to be 16 but they fell for the dodgy dob despite me looking about 9! There were 3 on our till - me, another lad and a girl who hated football. As soon as the game kicked off me and the other lad watched the game on the Milton then nipped back for the half time rush, pulled the shutters down just before kick off, legged it around to the office in the west stand with the leftover pies (which went straight in the freezer!) and cash, got our £7 wages, and watched the last half hour or so in the posh seats in the West stand. I didn't work the midweek games so used my staff pass to get in free. Best job ever.
