I'm not sure where the truth lies here, but it certainly isn't ability holding him back. Something was amiss when he was left out of the pre season tour in 2019. Someone apparently itk said it was because he returned fat. He didn't. He spent a lot of time in a boxing gym. His trainer, a proper experienced boxing man, said "He’s been an absolute pleasure to train, always gives 100% and has done everything asked of him. Straight 2 hour sessions...he will be going into pre-season training next week fitter than ever before. Good luck and take a bow Mr Slattery, you have done yourself proud". That doesn't fit with the fat lad with a bad attitude the apparent itk's talk of. Thus, why he was actually omitted was never clear. Since then he's not had a look in, just reserve team footy, that brief loan in Holland and now the Gillingham loan. Sometimes it just doesn't work out with some players and some managers. Hopefully he'll get games at Gillingham and get a move.

It's been obvious that there is more going on than injury, and LeG has confirmed that. The something is sensitive and of a personal nature but if we signed him aware of that issue, and that he would be unavailable for ages, then the club deserve criticism. However, if its something that's arisen since, then it's just one of those things and the club need to give him as long as he needs. The thing for me is that we've never had him available so don't actually miss him. Our problem isn't defensive, it's creating and score goals. The Forren comparison is lazy. Forren was never up to it so was shipped out. Salisu is clearly good enough but is unavailable because of health/injury.

No idea. I hope the guy got the apology he deserved though. Being wrongly branded a racist is no more acceptable than being a racist.

If it's a musical genre thing, fair enough, and I take your point re radio 6. I had not appreciated that radio 1 was more chart based stuff.
-
Not always, but if it's done, it's not to suggest it's a racist or negative thing. Things need to be looked at in context. Take the football coach incident a little while ago. The guy was the only black person in a group and had to be quickly identified. The obvious way to describe him was as the black guy. That's what happened, but the reaction was that it was racist. It wasn't, yet we had loads of white middle class people shouting racism, and they even carried on after John Barnes said it was entirely acceptable and that the uproar was stupid.

Yep, that's what he says, stop putting barriers and distinctions in the way of unity. In a loosely related theme, I watched a programme with Miriam Margolyes the other day. She's a lesbian. She went to a bar in the Australian outback. She introduced herself as lesbian, then proceeded to ask a weathered looking Aussie bloke if he'd ever met one, and when he said yes, she then asked what he called "them". He answered "by their name". That little exchange applies equally to race, and for me, highlights the perception among many that there is prejudice where none exists. Such assumptions are divisive and prejudiced in themselves.

I don't know whether people of colour disagree with Morgan, most of the complaining appears to be done by white middle class people. You mention the MOBO. It's a good point. Does the ethnic origin of music need to be highlighted? How much music is of black origin anyway? I'd hazard a guess that the vast majority of popular music is of black origin, but regardless, why give it special attention? As an extension, is Radio 1 xtra necessary? It's a contemporary and black music focused station. But Radio 1 is contemporary music focused, and most of it if black origin. There's an argument that both of these things not prejudiced in their own right.
-
Yep. I think it was Morgan Freeman who said the best thing we do to reduce racism is to stop highlighting it. As you say, not only are people doing that, they're looking for it often where it doesn't exist. There's no doubt that racism exists. There's also no doubt that positive discrimination and quotas (official or otherwise) exist. There is also no doubt that the latter fuels the former.

Ditto. Mushroom rice and a sag paneer on the side. Splendid.
-
Absolutely. Starting 11 is OK though. A bench full of kids was OK against Liverpool though.

Yes, but I wouldn't play him in our system. He's too lightweight as 1 of 2 in midfield, and hasn't got enough pace or skill as a 10. I said that about Ward-Prowse once though, as did many others.

So we're missing Ings, Romeu, Redmond, Tella, Vest, Djenepo, Salisu and Ramsey (unless Tchapet is above him). Blimey. Is it only Ings with Covid?

TT Peach Nice number plate for someone.

He was the most senior nailed on starter. He's decent captain material, even if he wasn't in the first team plans. On the move, it'll do him good, if he plays. He needs a run of games and then a move to fulfil his potential. It's a shame it hasn't worked out here. I don't know what went on with him and Ralph. It all seems a bit odd.

Weston, ask yourself what the prospect was of the Commissioner saying anything that was critical of the PM. He made his decision, set a precedent and has given everyone the ability to do what they want. The guidance was perfectly clear being the village, town or part of the city where you live. Boris's little outing has given the green light for people to do what they want. You termed yourself a selfish cunt, and I agreed with you.
-
I disagree. Using your Murder analogy, you'd have to decide if charging would likely lead to a conviction and that it was in the interests of justice to do so. If the trial would likely lead to an acquittal, it wouldn't be sensible to have it. Indeed, having a trial just to make a point/do the right thing is akin to political point scoring which is not what should be happening. The issue, for me, is the impact of the impeachment failing - the loon would feel empowered by it, as will his legions of loyal followers. Successful impeachment would be wonderful, unsuccessful would be damaging thus only do it if the points are in the bag.
-
Failing will only fuel his supporters belief that he's right. Definitely only try if they have the support to get the job done.

You are aware that Spurs v Fulham was today put in the diary for this Weds (2021) and both play at the weekend? It's not ideal, but tell me that playing Leeds this Weds is worse than the prospect of next Weds Leeds game being cancelled, and the Shrewsbury fixture being cancelled too.
-
I get that but we're likely to face a cancellation next week and fixture congestion, when there's a window for both us and Leeds this week. The PL today switched Spurs and Fulham to this Weds which was perfectly sensible and the uber meticulous Jose is probably grateful to avoid the congestion of not playing. Sure its short notice, but it's short notice for both teams but it hasn't happened anyway so it's an academic point. Over the course of the season, with more and more covid cancellations, clubs will have to take matches at short notice.
-
It's not a quite a Cummings moment, but he's certainly given people permission to go beyond "their village, town and part of the city where they live", and probably gifted a lot of people an appeal against their penalties. Enjoy your bike riding!

We're prepared for a match, it's hardly like a boxer having to make the weight. Spurs V Fulham was brought forward to this Weds. It's all about opinions, but I'd rather we played Leeds this week and Shrews next week than have fixture congestion..

Bringing our game against Leeds forward to this Weds makes sense, giving us next Weds for the Shrewsbury game. Cancelling the Leeds game is just daft.
