Are you of the opinion that someone who doesn't support mandatory taking the knee in public is racist?
-
No worries. It's not for me to express an opinion on the motivation of the people who booed today. My view is that the knee is virtue signalling, that it'll achieve nothing, making people do it isn't right, that not agreeing with the above is not racist, and that branding people with a contra view as racist is wrong. Whether those people today were making noise for those reasons, or because they were racist, neither of us can say.

If you want someone to explain their post, ask them, don't ask me by referring to a completely different scenario. On this point, players are obliged to take the knee. If they don't they are branded racist - indeed, Dion Dublin said this about the fans today: "They don't agree with taking the knee, which means they are racist. They don't agree with Black Lives Matter; that says they are racist to me." That's bollox. I don't agree that people should be made to take the knee. I don't agree that it will achieve anything. Don't get me wrong, booing it won't achieve anything, but branding people racist for not agreeing with the way that an issue is being tackled is pathetic.

Yep. It's obligatory virtue signalling which will achieve nothing. Thinking that is not racist.

People said it was a personal issue, not a big issue. The fact there was a press embargo in it suggests it wasn't a sore ankle or whatever. Regardless, he seems to be there or thereabouts now which is great for him, and hopefully us.

Possibly, but my post was in response to a post about where he'd go and be a regular starter. He'd never be a regular starter for any of those. To go to one of them it'd have to be for a bit part rule, but admittedly with European footy and more cash. Regardless, if he wants out, we'll no doubt cash in over the summer.

Good point, and I can't think of one club that'd be an upgrade (or at least significant one) on us, although I could think of a few that'd probably pay him more and give first team footy...Wolves (at least whilst Jiminez is out), Villa, West Ham, Newcastle. He'd be terrific for Leeds. Bielsa's style would suit him and the fans would love him. On balance I suspect this is brinkmanship and I reckon he'll sign.

Nonsense. It doesn't help any of us fans to know any more. We don't need to. Instead, we have a few people clamouring to know more, seemingly because they feel an entitlement. There is no entitlement, and knowing more won't make a jot of difference to any of us - he still won't be available until he's available. It's clear from what Ralph and Vest have said that he's working through some issues. It seems obvious that they're sensitive otherwise there wouldn't be a press embargo. I'm not sure why it's so hard to let it play out.

You know what I meant...a proper trade agreement...border check agreement, especially with time sensitive cargo such as this.

Ha!! Ego's are the lifeblood of politicians Weston, but the clever ones know when to reign it in. When your future involves imports from Belgium, but with no trade mechanism in place, the lip zip is needed.

Hancock had no need to say what he did. It was a pitiful attempt to make a government who haven't covered themselves in glory, to seek a bit of glory, and score some anti EU points whilst doing so. I'm with Tajj though, what is claimed is disingenuous. Add to that we're staring down the barrel of no deal in a few weeks time when importing anything from Belgium, let alone this, is going to be a nightmare. This stunt gives us a few weeks worth before it gets messy. A humble "we're grateful to those who developed it.." would have been more sensible than the "look at us, aren't we clever, we nipped in before you lot..." that he actually delivered. Amateur conduct, and no wander the grown ups are trying to row back from it.

Cheers, what with all the fuss over the Irish border, I hadn't appreciated it's going to be business as usual for Irish players. Irish footballers yes, Irish beef no. French footballers non, French beef non. Makes no sense!

Yep, that's what stood out for me. That will hit us. Jankewitz, Obafemi, Valery and many others wouldn't have been able to sign under those rules.

It's beyond me why this thread still open. Just close it. If there's any announcement or he's in a squad, then re open it.

I have Fernandes and also subbed in Rashford. Feels wrong.

Watched it in the break. Horrific. He's a lucky boy.
