How many big earners left on permanent deals?
-
I forgot how good bearsy 's stuff was. These lines from a Chelsea preview are brilliant : "Chelsea's juvenile missteps have been legion, and as the cast of Made in Chelsea experienced first-hand, the best education entails a certain amount of buggery. So let us unbuckle our belts, unzip our flies, and teach them a Lesson." Genius.

So was Mane. And Lallana. And Shaw. Some make it. Others don't.

We're financially viable and sustainable. That, at its simplest, is a well run football business. If it isn't, tell me your definition of a well run football business.
-
Wrong. Making transfer decisions that haven't worked us does not alter the fact that we're well run strategically and financially. As a business the club works. Throwing money around whilst being stuck with a load of ****e players would be stupid.
-
We have been well run but made awful transfer decisions. If those transfers had come off they'd be no whingeing. Doing what people on here are calling for would make us badly run. We need to clear out the ****e and rebuild. It's not complicated.
-
Absolutely this ?

Where does the belief that we need to sell before loaning come from? We have loads of useless players under contract that are costing as cash. Isn't it possible that the club is trying to reduce the number of contracted players before signing more players on long contracts?
-
I've not seen anyone suggest that they'd be "happy for us not to sign anyone". All of us want our team and squad to improve. The point is that chucking £20m or whatever on a footballer is not an "investment" as people think. An investment involves getting your money back, with a cherry on top. Our recent track record is shocking and money will be lost on Vestergaard, Moi, Hoedt, Carrillo, Lemina etc. Thus, none of those players represent an investment, rather they'll all lose money. Goa doesn't like to spend, we all know that, and I'd be surprised if you really think that those signings will persuade him that chucking big bucks at a footballer represents a sound investment. This isn't about what we as fans would like to happen, it's a matter of what us realistic with this bloke in charge.

He's definitely played out of necessity, but he's played well and if Ralph fancies KWP over him for the rest of the season, he must have massive faith in the lad. It's an odd one for me.
-
A poll on that would result in one hell of a landslide.
-
We do. Our allocation at £25 rather than a tenner yields us an extra £42k.
-
That's an additional £42,675 coming our way if we sell our allocation. Gao will be delighted.
-
According to the telegraph its £1m, and according to some people on this forum, everything the telegraph write about us comes from the club.
-
Ha!! According to established forum law, he'd be a liar and/or skate. On a related theme, if a player rejects us and/or a terms can't be agreed, then the club and its staff are useless.
-
Blimey. Makes the deal even more baffling.
-
It's not £5m. It's £5m Inc the wages we won't be paying. If he's on £70k pw for another 20 weeks we're seeing about £3.5m for the player. They'll be a loan fee for KWP I'd imagine, and agents fees to pay on both deals. Looking at all of that, the net gain will be minimal, and we'll have replaced a proven RB with an unproven one with no fit RB to cover.
-
Absolutely, although I'd argue that we need another CM player too, especially if Cedric goes and JWP becomes our RB back up.
-
They may not have offered one. Or wanted daft money.
-
Yes, but 3 becomes 2 in reality when JWP is used at RB. No idea why Slattery is so out of favour, but he or Smallbone are next in line which is ridiculous.
-
The name wasn't given, but that would be my guess as he left Leeds to go back to Arsenal. Either way, Adams is here for the foreseeable at least and hopefully he'll come good.
-
Blimey, that puts transfer fees and expectations in perspective. Thank you for the summary.
-
I have it on good authority that the intention was to sell and bring in a lad from Arsenal. I've not had an update but the young strikers at Arsenal are getting game time. It's only a guess, but I reckon that the replacement didn't come off so he's staying, at least for now.
