Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
egg replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
You're squirming mate, and rightly so. Your words, not mine, are that "hopefully" she suffers retribution at the hands of an Isis victim. I'm confident that there's only one honest interpretation of that. You can keep digging if you want but in your shoes I'd leave it. As to my position, I've said only that a) the home office decision is unlawful which it is, and b) that she should be allowed to return and be dealt with (ie punished lawfully as opposed to being killed by someone seeking revenge). I'm not sure how that makes me an Isis sympathiser. -

The young woman (who went there as a kid) you idiot, ie the one that normal people want punished, but you want killed. -

Errr, read your own words pal. Just in case you can't, I'll help. You said: "hopefully...someone will sort the problem for us..." Which you clarified to mean: "Maybe a Syrian Isis victim will fancy dishing up their own justice". Unless you mean that "hopefully" an "Isis victim" version of justice means giving her a nice foot massage or something, you're clearly hoping (your wish, not mine) that the "justice" dished out is of the unpleasant kind. Disgraceful. -
This. The kid has done well, bar Cardiff, and is improving. We've wasted a fortune on poor players over recent times and I'd rather nurture our own than waste more money on players who may be no better.

So wishing the kid dead. Classy. -

What does "hopefully...someone will sort the problem for us..."mean? -

Yep, agree with all of that. He's pandering to the masses. On Judicial Review that decision will inevitably be overturned. -

I suspect that they just want them gone, ans as she wants to go, they're content. -

No idea but the legal system, or lack of, in another country is not the issue. She's a woman who, until the home office revoked it, was a UK citizen. She has no other citizenship. No other country is obliged to give that to her. Thus revoking her citizenship has left her stateless. That's unlawful. She's a woman who should be allowed to return to the only country where she has had (and still should have) citizenship. Upon her return she should be dealt with in our legal system as a British citizen. -

It's not, but she is our responsibility. -

Yep, we can't just dump our rubbish onto other countries. The home office decision is plainly unlawful in that the decision was made on the understanding that she would not be rendered stateless. She has been. If the decision is judicially reviewed its hard to see how it wouldn be reversed. -
Quite. You're not commenting on the game. You're trolling. Again.
-
Spot on. People ***** about Austin and Long but whine when neither are in the team. I'm not sure who people expect us to play other than Redmond up top. Personally I'd have had Yoshida and / or Bertrand in the back 3 but otherwise the team picks itself.
-
I like that back 3. I'd have Redmond up top in that system with JWP in behind with Armstrong.
-
All this 'my made up theory is better than your made up theory' is hilarious. None of us have a clue what he knew/knows/thinks but in any event we have the squad that we do. Get behind the team and the manager ffs
-
It may come as a shock to you, but there's a world, and opinions, outside this forum. I agree though that he should never have been readmitted - aside of his comments form 2012, he wouldn't have progressed the labour party.
-
As I say, it was stupid and misguided, but we need to get away from this perception and belief that speaking out against the Israeli government is antisemitic. I deplore the behaviour of the Israeli government, its occupation of the West Bank, settlements, blockade of Gaza etc etc but I have no issue with Jews, Judaism and agree that there should be an Israeli state. If I were a labour member (I'm far from it) my views would probably deem me antisemitic. Hatton seemingly had that view and yes he was wrong to seek to get support for his views from Jewish people and use the words that he did, but fundamentally his principle of criticising Israel was not antisemitic, although the delivery was wrong.
-
We agree on the fundamental issue that criticising Israel is not in itself antisemitic. We disagree on the singling out which I see as stupid, misguided and inappropriate, but not antisemitic.
-
Yes or no, is expressing a negative view of the Israeli government and its behaviour antisemitic? That's my only issue.
-
I am not trolling, andI have better things to do than join in a wider debate. Not one repsonse has addressed the question of why criticism of the Israeli government and its actions is being deemed as antisemitic. Odd.
-
What's that got to do with the Derek Hatton' tweet?! My question related to that only. Re' dozens of posts', I'd appreciate just one to explain why criticism of the Israeli government is apparently antisemitic - that was my sole point.
-
Thanks for posting that. I hadn't seen or heard that and agree with your interpretation - it did seem that RH anticipated a replacement.
-
That's a very stretched and liberal interpretation of what he actually said.
-
Yep, got that. Which part of his tweet condemns the Jewish faith or its people, i.e. which part is antisemitic?
-
But people on here like him so the fact that the manager wouldn't play him is irrelevant. Or something.
