  1. Right profile for us Used to working with young players Proven coach to develop young players/develop players Been successful in player/coach career Fits role to take us to next level Thinks he'll adapt to England easily due to studying the league Adding a GK coach in due course Katharina stabilised the club Case now of moving forward and exciting the fans Logical that we wouldn't make any moves on players without a new manager Ronald and Les need to discuss players futures We'll make squad changes if they're right for the club If players leave and we raise significant funds, it'll all go back into the club Chances of Lallana being here next season? "Difficult to say" "Strong chance" that Lallana will want to be here next season Used the word banter in a sentence Used it twice About it really.
  2. Good point, hope so.
  3. Guardian sport ‏@guardian_sport 17m Steve Bruce and Ronald Koeman on Southampton shortlist. By @DTguardian http://gu.com/p/3pqqq/tw (Photo: PA) pic.twitter.com/0DwwW9ReQ5 Strange.
  4. Alex Goring Crook ‏@alex_crook 35s Despite what the bookies say Tim Sherwood is NOT in the running for the #saintsfc job He's spoken.
  5. That'd be a fair point if it wasn't all news from 2/3 days ago.
  6. How does he make a living from just repeating twitter?
  7. Not bothered about that, showing a bit of passion.
  8. Mentioned this the other day, I think he's better than Lallana and like you say probably available for around £12-£15m. We should really be looking at players who are doing well in the Bundesliga in my opinion, there's some fantastic options over there at much less inflated prices. Firmino, Rodriguez (very ambitious) or even a stupidly outrageous attempt at signing Huntelaar if we get Koeman. Some bloody good players lurking in the Bundesliga/Erdevisie at the minute I think.
  9. Could not give a **** to be honest. Signs a 5 year deal and says he'll happily stay here for his career when he was just another player and now as soon as he's stepped up and shown some real ability he wants off at the first opportunity. Take the £25m and he can **** off, can get unbelievably talent from abroad with that sort of money; Roberto Firmino for example could command half that fee and is arguably just as good as Lallana is. Gutted to see him go but if he's going to start being such a whiny little ***** about this all then he can go **** himself.
  10. Not that it ever was going to be, but now it 100% isn't... Oscar Garcia gone to Maccabi Tel Aviv in Isreal.
  11. I think it's a bit doom and gloom here, I really think we can easily get away with selling Shaw, Lallana and Lambert. Fair enough it'll be different but if we appoint Koeman and give him £50m from the sales of those players and he invests it well, we'll be in a stronger position than we were this year for sure. Shaw is great but his lure lies in his potential, fair enough he's very good at the minute but if we sell him for £30m and sign an established, experienced LB for around £7m then we're making a massive profit and we're getting a player who is less positionally naive than Shaw proved to be on multiple occasions this season. Lallana is class, obviously. 90% of what we did went through him and he's a quality player, but just think about what you can get for £25m in his position. If we replaced him with a £15m attacking midfielder from abroad then I'd be happy, I also feel like Ramirez will prosper in his absence. Lambert is a weird one, we all wanted him replaced this summer anyway if we were to push on, I'm honestly not fussed that we've sold him as it means that we HAVE to sign a big striker now and there's unlimited options from foreign leagues to replace him with who'll be much better than he is. If we signed a striker from abroad and Ings as well I'd be delighted. So if we manage to keep hold of Schneiderlin, Lovren etc and only sell those three I'll be happy to be honest. Just need to replace the three of them and perhaps sign another striker as well as a CB and we'll be much stronger than last year. I also feel Koeman is a much better manager than Pochettino currently is and his experience will be vital. Nothing much to worry about yet in my opinion, but absolutely everything lies on the managerial appointment.
  12. Southampton FC ‏@SouthamptonFC 30s #SaintsFC has today accepted the resignation of First Team Manager Mauricio Pochettino ahead of his appointment by @SpursOfficial.
  13. I think half the people on this forum don't quite understand yet how much of an unbelievably fantastic appointment Yakin would be. Worked wonders at Basel and his style of football is absolutely fantastic and should lead to the majority of our players thriving under it. Him and De Boer are the only two appointments that I wouldn't see as a step-back and could even be portrayed as a step forward. Exciting times if these Yakin quotes are positive, very hopeful.
  14. Horrific limitations set on us if you adopt that approach, would you be happier with someone like Chris Hughton or Malky Mackay then? The best managers are currently abroad and we're not going to keep progressing with somebody like that in charge. Laudrup isn't a bad shout but there must have been a reason the entire Swansea dressing room turned on him the way they did.
  15. Go big and pay out for De Boer, he wants a Premier League job and we can offer him an attractive side with a top class academy which plays entirely into his hands.
  16. Only guy domestically I'd be interested in is Moyes. De Boer would certainly be interesting, only reason Tottenham won't get him seems to be compensation which we shouldn't have a problem paying. Works well with youth and would more than likely welcome a route into this league.
  17. http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/sport/football/clubs/southampton/article4091295.ece Shaw, Lallana, Lambert, Chambers, Schneiderlin, Lovren, Rodriguez and Cork? Hilarious.
  18. 1) Player of the season - Lallana 2) Scholar of the season - Chambers 3) Away Player of the Season - Rodriguez 4) President's choice - Lallana 5) Goal of the season - Lallana vs Hull or Rodriguez vs Fulham 6) Fans player of the season - Lallana
  19. It really can't be a coincidence that we haven't conceded a goal since he's came back into the starting 11. Conceded just 11 goals whilst he's been on the pitch in the 19 games he's played more than 45 minutes in, some record.
  20. 100% agree. Can't deny I'm getting progressively more worried though.
  21. I've always been one who's confident we'll keep all our big players and the only one we may potentially lose is Shaw for massive money. But if this really is the case then what a depressing summer it's going to be. Will push us down from an ambitious side pushing sides like Tottenham and Everton to just another **** mid-table club. If Lallana leaves then you can bet that players like Schneiderlin, Shaw, Chambers and Lovren won't be too far behind them either because what's the point in staying at a team that's not going to keep their best players and try and push up the table? Hate to be all doom and gloom about this (which is strange considering the excitement we all got from Reed's statement), but it really does make it apparent why Cortese left if the owners ambition is this low.
