Luggy is a great manager in the lower leagues. The trouble is in the higher leagues his somewhat old school approach does not cut it with the premier players and their big egos. For this as much as anything his appointment ahead of Hoddle was a disaster at SFC.

I agree with your argument, my judgement is based in the evidence of the intent. NC will of course talk about going for promotion this season but does the evidence of his intent support this. Surely if we were really going for it we would have got that striker that might in then end mean the difference, even if it did mean paying slightly over the odds. After all, we did well on getting the OXO money. IMO the team has started for better than NC could ever have dared imagine, in this sense he is lucky. Having said that if that luck continues and we do get promoted i will be absolutely delighted. however, there is a long way to go.

Of course I want the team to be successful. When I dream, I dream of Saints at the top of the Premier League and stprming Europe. However, when i look at things in a hard nosed fashion I see that consolidating our place n the NPC as something to be happy with.

No, I cannot explain which teams will finish where in the league. That sort of detail is ridiculous and I doubt id=f anyone could do that if asked. I have said 17th because before the season started people (for fun i presume), were asked to give an actual placing. I chose 17th because i feel saints will finish roughly lower mid table. I suppose if we finish 15th, 16th , 18th 19th people will be pedantic and say i got it wrong. However, I would say that within that bandwith it would have been a good prediction ! Your last paragraph quite frankly is purely your opinion and i could say the same about any persons opinion or prediction. Anyway, we will just have to wait and see. Just a little footnote on the thread 'the next seven games' i seem to be doing pretty well in my predictions....and i have predicted a win today so if i am right enjoy, because i predict a bumpy time ahead after that.

We have had a great start but I believe our form will drop off a bit now and then settle down. As I have said before, we did not show any real intent during the summer transfer window and will finish a comfortable lower middle table over the season in line with our ambition to consolidate this season and push for a play off place next season. We have to be patient but we will get there eventually.

I am not trolling. I am genuine in my belief that we will finish 17th or thereabouts and it would be an achievement in our first year in a new league. I understood we had a five year plan and i am sure next year when the management have had a better chance to asses the team in the contest of this league they will act decisively in the early summer months of the close season ensuring we have a better chance of success.
