Cortese speaking to BBC for first time since leaving Saints
Dig Dig replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Sounds like he would have resisted as much as possible in the quest to break the glass ceiling but would have let players move on in a couple of seasons if (or when) that wasn't achieved. -
I've expressed my reservations about the make up of the new board on here which is often interpreted as me wanting the club to chuck £100's of M at the champions League dream which is absolute nonsense. They can be quietly going about their business all they like but it's concerning when the key people inside the club can't get the answers they need and no need at all, as you say , not to resolve contracts for the likes of Cork and Fonte which would be some good news/PR in the midst of all the stories about everyone leaving.
-
Would break Cortese's heart seeing that.
-
Not really, I want the club to be resolute and reject anything which comes our way before the WC. Values could rise based on a good performance, a goal/assist etc. Our players are on long contracts, we should be in a very good negotiation position.

Loved Crooks source who claimed that Lallana's representatives were speaking to Bournemouth

Where did Saint Charlie get that quote from? -
Is a anyone able to crack Saint Fan Cam's dribbling retard riddler routine?

For what, asking you a question?

I think everyone knew this summer was going to be difficult but I wasn't expecting deals to be in the making as soon as our season finished. No time to reflect how good it was and if Shaw and Lallana move before hand it takes a little shine off watching them at the World Cup. That fact that they seem so decisive that their future is better off elsewhere so soon (especially Lallana) is a bad sign IMO.

How did JWP play?

It was this very thread mate. Just asking if it's the same source as you've posted two different ITK outcomes in a matter of days. What can I take from your defensiveness I wonder?

Some source as this one SFC?

10M a season seems pretty **** poor when it's broken down.

He was good with the players though.

Laughable

We might get Malkay Mackay for that

Bazza would be turning in his ugly inside grave if he knew about Tokyo's grassing

Could be the case, you've used your trump card too soon!

Can we put to bed the nonsense that we were doomed when NC left.....

On top of that, and as you have pointed out, odd to promote the CFO to CEO if you are unhappy with your companies finances. -

Not really, at a minimum all people have got to go by is a few wolly statements and players and Poch saying that they don't know what the plan is at Saints anymore. The other side of your argument is that Cortese gets slated more and more to the point that it would seem that some paint him to have been entirely useless and irrelevant re what we have achieved over the last 5 years. As always, the truth is somewhere inbetween. -
A side from Reed's statement every attempted strong statement has been offset by a comment or indication that we'll do our best but we only little old Southampton who can't really compete with others. Certainly true in some cases but I don't see all these emphatic statements about our future plans. The classic is Ralfs comment about accepting whatever the football gods decide. That's helpful Ralf

How do you know who wanted who? Lallana and Morgan both could have played in the prem much sooner than they did with Saints. There has been interest from Prem clubs for a long time although not to the calibre of today.
