  1. Thanks. Blowed if I can remember him though.
  2. Thanks for the correction LBA - but please remind me who the fudge was Steve Baker ? He has obviously left an indelible blank on my memory - could you jog it for me ? Cheers.
  3. Blimey, that's a bit harsh. OK he was no Keegan or Channon it's true but he was involved in that memorable goal of the century against Liverpool in 82 - 83 if memory serves. Besides, have you forgotten the likes of Terry Hurlock, Paul Moody and just about any other player signed by the god-awful Branfoot and others that have left an indelible blank on my memory.:o
  4. It means they havn't got two ha'pennies to rub together and if the fake sheik doesn't produce the sheckles very soon they are well and truly up sh*t creek without a toilet roll.
  5. ....and to continue in that vein....."Yeah....what's Papa Waigo ever done for us, eh?":smt036
  6. Bit spooky.....have a look at the bit where jobs vacancies scroll down on the right hand side - one of them is MANAGER SOUTHAMPTON. Has AP been given the boot already?
  7. Confused...? You will be...!
  8. Would I be in our position or Pompey's ? With less than 500 fans at Villa Park this afternoon according to Sports coverage on Radio 5 ? Now let me think. I'm almost beginning to feel sorry for the Blue Few who seem to be getting fewer by the minute.
  9. He's cr*p, don't touch with a barge pole.
  10. The look of relief on Trotman's face was evident as the cause of his recent constipation finally cleared.
  11. And what is wrong with using the shorter form of Richard with a D ? The real question should be why on earth is the filter set to this anyway. I can understand really nasty words being filtered out but this is ridiculous. My work filter system filters out the word "breast" too - as a surveyor it's a word I frequently use, as in "Chimney Breast". You can understand my frustration at all this nonsense I'm sure.
  12. Why has the sort form of "Richard" been asterisked out of my previous post ?? Mods ?? Is this PC cr*p again rearing its' ugly head ??
  13. This is a very good appointment. Living just along the coast from Brighton I am well used to getting Albion news from friends who support them. In his final year with them he took them to 7th place, just missing the play-offs, on a minimal budget and an improvement of 10 places on the previous year when they just missed relegation. DW is not a manager but was still treated very badly by **** Knight when he brought back Micky Adams. He is, however, a very good coach and this is a very astute appointment by AP. Trust me.
  14. I think you'll find that that is irrelevent in terms of legality, not to mention downright stupidity. If you recall, it wasn't that long ago that some dumb-arse female driver killed a cyclist in this region because she was......guess what?..............yes, texting. Whether I can read properly or not does not come into it. The simple fact is it's illegal as is making or receiving a call with the car engine running and not parked up properly with the handbrake on. I refer you to the Highway Code.
  15. Texting whilst driving then.......clever thing to do eh? NOT.
  16. .......sort of. They interspersed match commentary with "music" (I use the term loosely, you understand).......or was it the other way around...."music" interspersed with match commentary......??
  17. nfortunately, there's nothing else to do up that way which is why they always sell so many.
  18. Was just about to sort out Mrs Jimmy Gabriel's Halo this morning with the old morning glory when the news came on the radio. This resulted in an immediate cry of "FFS" from me and immediate loss of said morning glory. But, thinking about it, this could be the right appointment at the right time. He can start with a blank canvas and really put his mark on the club and by getting the right coaching staff and players in I think we might have a chance of the play offs after all. Here's hoping anyway. Now, where's Mrs Jimmy Gabriel's Halo gone........??
  19. Left Back. In the changing room. The old one ARE the best.
  20. No, not a hat size but 8 shillings and elevenpence in old money. Which is more than TA is worth.
  21. Great news at long last. BUT let's hope some of that cash does get spent on the team - look at QPR, loads more dosh than anyone but how much has been invested in their team? Not a lot in comparison plus losing managers like a tarts knickers because of owners' interference. Anyway, very happy at the mo.
  22. Hmmmm....whilst I am no particular lover of the Blue Few I cannot help thinking we should stop the gloating. We have had an absolutely awful last 5 years and been through a horrendous last few months in particular. The Swiss deal looks like it's done barring the shouting so hopefully better things are ahead for us. BUT, I would not wish what we've gone through on my worst football enemies, Pompey and Spurs included. Remember people we very nearly ceased to exist at all and the whole thing has left me shattered and my nerves shot to pieces at times. I freely admit to waving bye-bye to Leeds at SMS and thinking that'll never be us but how very wrong I was. So ,for me, the gloating is over because we very nearly died the death and if you want any further reminder of what could have been - Dickens's "The ghost of Christmas yet to come" in Scrooge is apt here - just spare a thought for Farsley Celtic who have no league to play in next season. That could, VERY EASILY, have been us. On a brighter note I am now going to have a glass or three of red to celebrate our almost takeover. Cheers guys !!
  23. Two for me:- 1965/66 and I'm looking for a team to support, Saints had just beaten West Ham away 6 - 2 "They look good, think I'll support them" and upon walking up the steps into the Itchen Stand at SMS for the first time after so many false dawns with a new stadium and thinking "this is fantastic, we'll never have to worry about anything again". Oh dear.:smt085
  24. .......I can't help thinking that some of you guys have far too much time on your hands. Funny though. No offence , you understand
  25. None of the above. I heard it was a group of travellers who'd clubbed together to buy SMS and as soon as it's lights out next Friday will be in over the weekend with lorry loads of gravel and fencing posts and turning the pitch into caravan sites. That's why all the secrecy. Obvious innit ?
