  1. Glad I'm a Saints fan, I'd be disappointed with this performance if I was Reading fan. Lots of dominance and possession from Southampton, and as cliched as it is, without the ball Reading can't score. Would like to see us add a few more for safety but happy with a 1-0 if we can get it. Defense haven't really had much to do but they look solid. Nice to see Kelvin back.
  2. Really weak decisions from the ref, and he's destroyed any real tempo the game had been building in both halves. A scrappy winner is going to take this and its going to be harsh on Saints if its not us. Concerned about Lallana's injury but it might offer an opportunity for Rogriguez to find his role and help Puncheon to a score our winner.
  3. http://www.thefirstrow.eu/watch/157729/1/watch-southampton-fc-vs-reading-fc.html - working well for me.
  4. 3-0 - Puncheon with a cracker apparently. Will try and record the Fox Soccer show tonight and hope to see it.
  5. Make that 2-0 - indirect freekick after a mistake from the Stevenage centreback. Chaplow played the ball square and Sharp walloped it in the net. Stevenage protesting it wasn't a back pass but decision is made and goal stands.
  6. Premier league means premier quality match threads... or something. Welcome to Stevenage... oh. Anyone have radio commentary that's not Saints Player? I'm still boycotting it because of its awful quality, non-exisitent customer service blah, blah. And I'm skint.
  7. I've been a Time Warner Cable subscriber for ten years and am utterly relieved to be leaving their incompetence, poor quality DVR and overpriced services behind. The options we'll have in the new place are Comcast or DirecTV. From what i've seen of DirecTV's DVR and programming I like, and Comcast have a dreadful reputation from I've read online.
  8. Nope I don't have any messages on FB... aside from my mother... which would be strange indeed if she is some dude living in the middle of the US and not Hampshire afterall. https://www.facebook.com/groups/337594252973506/ You should be able to find me at this link, I'm Philip.
  9. There's a work thing on Friday and Sunday, so I'm free on Saturday. I'm transportationless - any idea if public transit runs to where you are from Champaign?
  10. I'll be in Champaign Illinois failing to find a bar showing it so will likely try the new Foxsoccer 2go... or find an illicit stream.
  11. Am traveling for work with a flight that gets me back to LGA at 11am - I'm going to cab it straight to Legends and hope we're only leading by the odd couple of goals...
  12. BUMP. New Season and if any new Saints fans have arrived or are passing through NYC (and the surrounding area) this season, feel free to join us.
  13. Have we released Spiderman and Hammond? Still think Morgan at least CDAJFU in the middle.
  14. Marvelous. My first real smile from a Saintsweb post in months. You should write for http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/series/thefiver. Can't find sarcasm icon or I would insert one.
  15. No. Not even being drawn into a debate on this one.
  16. Don't like that shirt design at all, but luckily I'm on a budget to pay for a wedding so its saved me cash by making it unappealing. All its missing is the Crown Paints sponsor and a tall Liverpudian striker up front...
  17. Nice spot. Here's the article. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/euro2012/article-2150451/Xavi-Andres-Iniesta-showed-Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain-size-important.html?ito=feeds-newsxml
  18. Great posts from Saint George and Cincy Saint, and my opinions and experience fall somewhere between the two. 12 years ago I moved to NYC, and despite a few scary moments, its been a safe, interesting and challenging place to grow. NYC is an aggressive place to live and work, and expensive. In my work I'm lucky enough to travel often and visit many of the US states, and was in Washington in April - way up in this idyllic valley called Wenatchee. Its a picturesque and peaceful community with all the benefits you'd expect from the Pacific North West, as long as you can look past the "strip malls," nothing to do with clothing removal and more to do with convenient use of available space along a roadside that a small one level shopping mall can be crammed into in an unappealing architectural style. The healthcare situation is awful and probably the biggest challenge I've faced since being here and still don't fully understand the fleecing of anyone that requires medical help to the tune that people have to declare bankruptcy or chose which limp they can afford to keep. Dramatic but sadly a reality for some people here. Fuel costs are a huge advantage and a positive healthy adoption of the American way makes life worth living in the US. There's so much scope for life improvement and its truely a fascinating place to travel around and enjoy living in. Of the 'things I miss' I'd echo the comments about a real country pub atmosphere, people who you can really have conversations with about football and other British shared experience but that's where Saintsforev....er....Saintsweb has been a boon. Branston Pickle, Coleman's Mustard, Yorkshire Tea, Double Deckers, and good fish and chips can all be acquired for the right price, and generally bands tour the UK first before emerging here which gives us a chance to catch good bands early in their careers if you pay enough attention to the music. Family and friends are all missed, and getting home once a year or once every couple of years eventually feels acceptable, as long as you plan the trip around a Saints game. Advice for if you do move here; embrace the culture. Learn an American sport a year, buy a Playstation or an Xbox and workout NFL or college football. Join a fantasy sports league and work out who the decent players are - it all helps to have build a shared interest with your new comrades in the US. Otherwise you'll be stuck talking about TV with the ladies. If you're single that might also be a bonus. Get used to enormous serving sizes, and spelling phonetically, don't cringe everytime you hear a weird accent or poor sentence structure and grammar, and be grateful for what you have. Immigration can be a bind, and there will be setbacks and challenges with bureaucracy, but as long as you walk into this not expecting it to be easy you'll be ok. Americans are generally quite accepting of Brits and confidence in yourself and speaking up/being assertive goes down quite well here in my experience, more than being too reserved.
  19. Try: http://www.firstrowsports.eu/watch/121401/1/watch-southampton-fc-vs-coventry-city.html vipbox.tv or firstrowsports.eu.
  20. I'm in a remote town near Seattle for work... just realised that its going to be 4:30am for me as well. Arse. And there was me thinking living on the west coast might be a possibility.... ******** to that. Luckily the hotel has wifi throughout so I'll be watching the game in bed.
  21. Was in the Red Lion for a very late night beer on Thursday but generally watch Saints games at Legends following the demise of Nevada Smiths. Its getting a better crowd of Saints fans and Jack's a decent bloke. I was traveling for work yesterday and sadly will be in Seattle for work next weekend as well. Am sort of hoping there's a problem with flights etc and I end up in NYC if the Cov game is televised.
  22. Thanks for posting... hope you've recovered from the earthquake. Am I right in thinking there were as many Saints fans as Posh fans at the game?
  23. Just setup a Facebook group for New York based (or New York visiting) Saints fans. Feel free to join, start events etc. https://www.facebook.com/groups/337594252973506/
  24. Watched this travesty with the biggest Saints following I've been with in NYC - ten of us at Legends and none of us could believe our dominance and 20+ odd shots and crosses were punished by three errors. We looked good for much of the game and the odd mistakes have taken us apart. On this showing we're still good enough to go up automatically assuming Nigel can fire them up for the run in for second place. Soul destroying but its the Southampton way. May the Telegraph article was right.
  25. Hope so Rut. I'd love for us to win this but wouldn't be disappointed with a share of the points. Enjoy the delay and with any luck you'll be able to avoid text, email and phonecalls.
