I think that's a fair assessment. CMS was never worth more than £2m. Billy Sharp - 1.5m, 24 goals last season. CMS - 3.5-4m - 12 goals. Excellent. I think he's a lower league centre forward, I wlays thought that about him. Lots of running around and waiting for the oppo to make mistakes, when the mistakes get less he's often quiet as he struggles to make things happen on his own. Very much like a certain Brett Ormerod. Players like Austin, Maynard etc were much better all round players than him.

Didn't see enough of him last year, but what little I did showed the quality he had. He looked just a level above the opposition when played, just better touch, awareness, movement. I think he's a PL player, I think he'll go down a storm.

He's a player versatile to play along the front 3 - Striker, left mid, AMC or Right. So absolutely perfect for the formation NA wants to play, so in that sense it's a no brainer. We want a statement signing though, Cortese wants ''sexy'' apparently. I would be absolutely staggered if we managed to sign this kid though, we're talking around 15/16 million and 50k+ p/w.......I cannot see him being offered that much by us. I just hope we're not wasting our time and there is actual intent to make this happen.

He may have been quick in his day, but I remember him being outpaced quite a few times for Spurs in the last year or 2. Injured a fair bit now too.

I didn't think he had the best game on Saturday, a bit sloppy with his touch and retention, but he was awesome against Ajax I thought, awesome enough to have their manager single him out for praise. Stop trying to find problems where there aren't any.

Where did you get quick from? Good player in his days, bags of experience. Wouldn't say no, but I just think he'll demand more than we're willing to pay.

Pretty much nailed it there, exactly spot on. There's isn't a great deal wrong at Saints as some like to make out, and it won't take much to improve things.

Dani Benitez is a player we've been tracking for a while isn't he? I swear we were linked last summer too.

Probably not past it yet, but he's on the decline. Doesn't strike me as the sort of player we're after in this day and age. And based on his showings at the Euro's, I'm not sure if he can do a consistent job at the top anymore.

Anyway, I'll be gutted to see this end. It's been a great 2 weeks, I've watched sport that I never thought I'd watch! I think Team GB have been stunning, some of the gold victories have been pure theatre - last Saturday being one, an amazing day. Will be sad to see it finish, let's hope it closes as spectacularly as it opened.

Even with new signings we'd struggle to get anything here, so losing at City will not intensify the need for new signings.

We'll put in a good effort, but will end up losing 4 or 5-0. They are just too strong for us in every area, that's not a dis-service to us but our players just aren't at their level. In many ways this should be seen as a bonus match got out of the way nice and early.

Can't see that anyone has actually mentioned it, but Tadanari Lee was training with the lads at HT - looked very mobile, he wasn't a named substitute though so I guess the plan was to just ease him back into situations like this - but he looks like he's back in training anyway.
