  1. Doesn't look like it. Steve is being talked up as a player that can cover a ST position anyway...so we may have killed 2 birds with one stone on this one.
  2. Work Permit will def. be needed if it's Jemal. We had to go through quite alot of hoops to get Jaidi's sorted...and he'd been playing in England for 3 years beforehand!
  3. Sounds like the normal bog-standard auto reply.....that's all we'll get.
  4. Yep, 2 cracking signings on the face of it. Improves the team straight away. Out of interest....which other teams were interested in the new fella?
  5. What I like about him (from the youtube videos.....and I know you can't base everything on those!) is his tenacity...never giving up, seems to have a bit strength about him too which IMO will make it easier for him to slot into English football. Looks like he's got a good touch, decent pace...and I like the fact that he can operate equally as well from either flank by the looks of it. Some of his footwork is quality too...the poor full backs this year. Lallana one side...this guy or Chambo on the other. Good luck!
  6. 1-2m euro's according to some reports.
  7. Yep, sounds like it is literately just a case of the player signing on the dotted line. Everything else has been done.
  8. Nope, Puncheon
  9. Yep good point. In that case, I've never heard of this dude before!
  10. Wasn't he at brum? Don't think he ever made his mark there, but he came with some decent European pedigree with him. This isn't a replacement for Chambo, this is a replacement for N'Guessan who was a replacement for Puncheon etc
  11. It's Jemal by the sounds of it then. quality.
  12. Good player, but not sure why we'd need him..? He wouldn't join to be backup.
  13. He won't go for any less though. We've not even had any bids for him, which is why I find all this a little messy now. If we'd rejected a bid from a top club then you could possibly understand his frustration, but he's trying his hardest to tout himself. (although I truly believe his dad is advising him to use the media in this way, skate ****)
  14. He does sound very promising. It's exactly the sort of signings we make too, totally out of the blue and not expected. Exactly the sort of CB we need to....sounds like a younger Jaidi, and is left footed. So ticks every single box for me. Sort of fits in with what the our new scout said a few months ago. ''Good European players with the ability to play in the premier league, but with the mentality to do well in the championship for 1 or 2 years"
  15. He was by far our best striker at the start of the season, I thought he was on course for 20+ goals easy. Then all the off field stuff happened, and he got an injury...kind of set him back. He's a very clever player, not massively pacey (pace really isn't the be all and end all), but his movement is good and so is his touch.
  16. It is a very impressive stadium, you've got to give them that. Different than the usual run of the mill and def. stands out as you're driving past!
  17. Yep, he's out of contract at the end of the season. Same with Hammond. Pretty sure they'll be next on the list.
  18. Yep, thoroughly deserved. Good guy and a good manager. People always bring up the points that he's had it easy, it's a good squad etc. - but that in it's self adds so much more pressure. We got out of that league at the first time of asking really, when we started on an even playing field. Forest, Leeds and Wednesday took 3/4 years to get out.
  19. Nope you're opinion isn't invalid, I'm not saying that. I don't think we're aiming for the league title yet though, give it another season.
  20. I like how we're getting all our key players locked down to long-term contracts. Morgan next...?
  21. Well it's fact as much as that's all Nigel thinks we need, and I personally think he's more qualified than any of us on here to make the call.
  22. Why? people keep raising this point but never give names or positions. We do not need lots of new signings, 2 or 3 - that's all. We have no reason to moan at all compared to the state of other clubs squads at the moment. Portsmouth still can't fill a bench for example. We need 1 or 2 more players, we'll get them before the end of the window. Having just 2 additions isn't going to need to gel, they should just slot straight in. If we had to build a brand new team I'd share you're nerves, but we don't. We already have that. People need to have more confidence in the guys we have at the club! they're good enough!
  23. He has had a new contract on the table all summer which would put him in line with our highest earners, but he obviously isn't going to sign it. Glad to see that the club have stood up to a player though. Cortese does not take any **** and it's refreshing to see.
  24. For Sunderland, in the league above, yes (he was good for WHU in the prem). But more than good enough for us.
  25. The ''daily'' stories at the moment are almost certainly media plants, driven by his advisers or agent. Not anything to do with the club in anyway at all. As has always been the case (the article from feb is brilliant), until NC feels the offer is right for the club and Alex himself he won't deal. This media crap isn't going to help things.
