NC on the pitch celebrating with the players, good lad.
-
Terrific manager, really rate the guy.

Absolutely fantastic, it was expected at the start of the season but the start seriously handicapped us. The run of form which has taken us into second has been astonishing and something I've never experienced as a Southampton fan. Saturday cannot come soon enough, I'm absolutely ecstatic. Best day as a Saints fan for years.

Just an agent that didn't get all his own way with us I expect. Someone else with an agenda.

How nervous are you about today's match

There isn't any chance!!! If we win today we are promoted and I will start celebrating. -
Bit harsh. It was prob a good idea to book this game in advance as it's always looked like going to the last day.
-
Interview atm... Guly just felt tightness in his leg, Harding had a whack on his hip. Nothing too bad by the sounds of it.
-
******s....they edited it, i didn't check before i reposted it. basically it said ''meaning one point from their last two games will be enough"
-
Throw it round the other way, if we'd have got a last minute winner to make it Brentford 0 - 1 Saints, we'd all be sure we were almost there and Huddersfield fans would be the ones deflated. Our win is the better win as it ensures we go into the last day in 2nd, no matter what we do at Plymouth. We should not doubt ourselves, I'm not worried. We have 2 games to get 3 points. It's not going to be easy at all, but we're good enough and focused enough to do it.

Looks like the BBC were a bit ahead of themselves with their match report: "And substitute Gobern grabbed his first Saints goal to wrap up a 13th win in 15 matches, meaning one win from their last two games should be enough for them to seal a return to the Championship even if Huddersfield win their final fixture."
-
They will be ****ed in the championship. They've struggled against any team with a decent attack this year.
-
I expected Brighton to lose that, no surprise to me. What an effort by us though, great win. 20 clean sheets - quality. The important thing for me is that we now go into the last day in 2nd - so whatever happens at Plymouth it's still all in our hands.
-
God, we really do need to do the job on plymouth. Otherwise this Walsall game will be one heck of a game. Walsall for their league 1 survival and us for league 1 promotion. You couldn't have wrote this script! what an amazing end to the season. Who buckles under the pressure first???? Unbelievable Huddersfield, fair play to them. What an effort.

This forum will be dead by half time.

Huddersfield winning as expected

If Cortese doesn't build the fairground at SMS, he can go as far as i'm concerned. His plans don't match helpmerhonda's.
-
Didn't realise they were so depleted, blimey.
-
I doubt it will tbf. The FA/FL knows that pitch invasions will happen up and down the country on the final day for different reasons, they're not going to punish anyone for it - they never have before.
-
Same happened that day, Newcastle won 2-0 - secured promotion but relegated Plymouth at the same time. Always thought it was quite odd that Plymouth were so generous as to play that....although maybe they felt they were down before that game anyway.
-
Complete and utter rubbish. Name me a right sided player that has got the better of him this season? If you're big enough to make a claim like that then you should be able to state the games and the players that have made him look foolish.
-
Outstanding free transfer. He's such a steady eady, nothing specacular but he does such a consistant job. He's probably dipped below 7/10 once or twice in his saints career - if there's anyone you can rely on when he's picked it's Harding. He'd get into plenty of championship teams starting 11.
-
Unfortunately mate there were people around me on 81 mins moaning because we weren't getting it forward quickly. Their responses ''Goal difference is going to be crucial, we need goals'' errr.

Some fans don't seem to understand the term winning professionally. Which is what we've been doing for months and doing very well. It's what good teams do. At the end of the day we have had a hectic schedule, we have 2 tough games in quick succession next weekend. What's best? Play your socks off and push forward to try and score more...or slow it down, take a breather and play out the final 10mins at 2-0? I know what I'd tell the players to do if I was manager.
