  1. The way chaplow spoke after the game makes it sound as if there are just 1 or 2 formalities to be sorted. He wants to sign for us permanently, he said so in the interview.
  2. Looks quite an impressive setup, also noticed Cortese (and one other person in the directors box) staying out all of HT clapping the groups going round the pitch.
  3. Chappers for me, class player.
  4. Nope! you're right. Was in the echo earlier this week ''IF Saints beat Peterborough on Saturday, it will mark the first time in nearly 18 years they have won six consecutive home games in a season. ''
  5. It's really concerning how many of our players are/have been carrying knocks since the start of the season. Our pre-season really was a sham.
  6. he was much more involved today, winning lots of headers and holding the ball up brilliantly - and a lovely pass for barnards goal. He just isn't getting the breaks in front of the goal atm. But the fact that we can still win 4-1 without Lambo scoring shows the amazing strength of this team
  7. Really enjoyed that, we were in control for the majority of the game. We started with a tempo and pushed them back at every oppertunity, as soon as they had the ball we harried them and eventually won the ball back and forced errors from them - time and time again, this method lead to our first goal v Barnard which was a brilliant finish. We played out the rest of the 1st half in control, we had a couple of dodgy moments but i didn''t ever feel too threatened by P'Boro. We started the 2nd half even quicker than the first, straight out of the blocks from the KO and before P'boro could even touch the ball, we'd made it 2-0 with a great header and one hell of a cross from Dickson. It was 3-0 shortly after when a terrific team move down the right, a terrific ball in by Hammond and a fantastic volley by Chaplow - a real class goal that. They got their consolation (sloppy bit of play from us) but we wrapped it up straight after with a good header from Guly. What stood out to me today was how impressive our full backs were, we looked so balanced down either flank and alot of the play was coming through them. Over the past few seasons we've been known to put makeshift right backs and left backs in there, but the real thing makes so much difference. Chappers was excellent, you're not going to find many better midfielders than him at this level he's terrific. Holmes was also very very good when he came on, showed a good turn on a couple of occasions and got an assist with an excellent cross so he's really pushed himself into the team now. To all those people doubting Jaidi...he was class today, you do not need to be a quick defender to deal with pace. All you need is intelligence and a positional sense about you and he had that in abundance today, looked like a total rock. Overall a very good win and you can see why P'boro concede as many as they do, they look a nice footballing team but as soon as they're pressured with a bit of guile and pace then they fall apart. Bring on brighton...

    England

True, our media are awful. The god awful show on sky sports on sunday says it all. They hype them up for 4 years, then when the time comes to go to the world cup they try their best to uncover stories to ruin our chances. No idea
  9. I'm glad to see everyone is writing the game off already. Jaidi is a very good defender and when fully fit (which i think he is now) one of the best at this level. What he has lost in pace, he makes up for with his positioning, reading of the game and winning of headers. We'll be fine with him.

Great post Hopkins. The media often say ''England need to play the fast game at international football'' etc - but it doesn't work and never will. International football has always been about patient, measured play. Not this gun-ho approach. Ok you may get the odd great result playing that way, but consistent success against big nations will never follow. Technically we just do not have the players to cope with tight spaces and short passing. As you said with Nasri, another thing with him is that he's always got control of the ball - even if he's surrounded by defenders (same with Alonso, Xavi, Ineista etc). All we do is panic, hoof it and lose it. The mentality needs to change from grass roots, but i don't think it ever will.
  11. It was over £1m according to some info i heard.
  12. The antonio deal died a death when they were asking for obscene amounts of money for him (which they're entitled to do) We should go back in for Papa in January, he's not played all season though as he hasn't been registered in his clubs squad - so he's lacking fitness.
  13. I think Le Fondre will def. be off in January, no question. But we'll be in a massive queue for his services...i would expect championship sides to be seriously looking at him too, terrific player.
  14. At 50k he'd be the best bit of business we've done for years. In the games I've seen him he looks like he's a cut above at this level.
  15. I don't think we are.
  16. There's no smoke without fire and it's been clear that somethings been up with him since the start of the season. Doesn't look like it's an injury or fitness anymore, so he's obviously been unsettled.
  17. hope so, very possible.
  18. tbf we still have time to sign a replacement ourselves on an emergency loan, just seems like quite a lot of pressure to be heaped on Chambo's shoulders all of a sudden. I hope he's not injured, as he was subbed at HT in the international tonight. If he is, we've just made one heck of a cock up.
  19. I don't think he'll ever play for us again
  20. A player that wanted out, very clear. Very sad, loved watching him last year - he hasn't been at his best this year, but watch him be very effective in the league above. Another one correctly forecast by leftback
  21. Holmes - he needs to get his career back up and running, it's not going to happen here. Mills - I have a feeling that Donny will pick him up in january on a perm. He's done well there Wotton - will probably leave on a free or stay on loan for the season up until his contract expires I don't agree with people saying that we need to get rid of Morgan and Lambert, that's just silly. Be patient with Lambert, you don't just lose talent. He will come good I'm totally convinced by it, he's put himself in a difficult position though as it was always going to be hard for him to replicate or improve from last year - he'll still get 25+ goals though IMO.
  22. tbf he already had the players to do well, we could maybe have done with antonio or papa coming back but young alex has come on leeps and bounds and is already filling that role.
  23. totally agree with you. Blackpool aren't in the prem because they spent a zillion pounds. These leagues are all the same, if you have a good spirit - 1 or 2 good players and good organisation then you have a chance. We've already assembled a squad that is probably more expensive than blackpools promotion winning squad from last season.
  24. well we scored 2 in stoppage time last week, so who knows. This team seems capable of anything this season (good and bad!)
