  1. He's the L1 messi, some of the stuff he can do with a football is brilliant. Leaves the oppo sitting on their backsides all game. We wouldn't be able to replace him at this level, no chance. We'd need to be chasing for the championship title to even attract players of his level.
  2. Agree about Butters, he's a solid player - he's never put a foot wrong for us. Not flashy or fancy, or quick - but solid, does a job and a fantastic squad player. TBF we should count our blessings we actually have 2 right backs, it was years since we even had 1.
  3. Yeah - i got that from his interview tone too, seemed to be playing down the chances of seeing too many players coming in but said we'll try for 1 or 2 positions. He's right though, the market is OTT at this time of year and even though we've got money we've never been silly with it which is a good way to be IMO. Anyway, our squad is pretty much strong enough anyway.
  4. The stuff I've read is that Millwall want him, but they cannot afford the transfer fee or the wages. So I assume we're still paying a %. I wonder if we'll let him stay there for the season on loan?
  5. It's the sort of statement we've needed a manager to come out and say for years. Burley should have said this in 2006 but he kind of played the safe card by aiming for the play-offs.
  6. His agent is his dad I believe! I have a feeling it's going to end up like the Theo transfer, but I hope not - it's way too early for him.
  7. You can see why Adkins plays him up top - he's a constant presence and a nuisance to the CB's with his running and some very clever movement too. He's never been a natural finisher or goalscorer, so it's unfair to compare him to barnard for e.g. Some of his touches and movement are class and of a different level at times. Some of our fans wouldn't know a good player if it slapped them in the face. - hence the amount of ''rubbish players that left us'' who are now 2 divisions above us.
  8. tbh i'm happy with how it was today. all this HT entertainment stuff is usually rubbish anyway. All I really want to know at HT are the scores from the other games.
  9. He was excellent, he looked much more mobile than he has had in recent games (i.e he was actually jumping for the ball) He didn't look like he was carrying as much weight as previous weeks either...so maybe these called off games have actually benefited us massively.
  10. He's being unfairly judged as he's not a striker, he doesn't have the instinct to pull the trigger like someone such as Barnard - he's an attacking midfielder, which is why he should be playing there. He gave his all today and worked his socks off for the team, if he does that every week and pops up with 2 assists I'm not moaning.
  11. A really good view from an intelligent hudders fan ''What a typical Town response , why are we so ****e at this time of year? Still a lot to look forward to but nothing for our away fans to hope for at the moment. Southampton aren't even a good side'' So what does that make them then? Seeing as that's 5-1 last year and 4-1 this year...
  12. He's not a natural striker though so it's not fair to expect him to perform like a natural finisher (i'm still not sure why he's being played as a striker tbh - behind the strikers is the best place for him). He runs his heart out for the team though and i thought he worked well with Lambo.
  13. I'd be surprised if we don't have him for the season at least.
  14. Lambo easily.
  15. Brilliant game, it started off at such a high tempo with both sides coming close to scoring. (we should have been 1 up before they got their 1st) We took about 5mins to settle once they'd scored, but after that we just bombarded them and quite frankly they couldn't deal with our attack, especially lambert who was back to his best and deservingly man of the match. It wasn't just his goal (which was a brilliant hit) but it was his general play, holding up, winning the header, passing it on...he was brilliant and lead the game for us from the front. Guly was frustrating but i didn't think he was awful, he just makes the wrong deicions when he's in the box (but he's never been a natrual striker afaik) Chambo was great and i really hope he stays as this is the only place he's going to get the football he needs, in a consistent winning team week-in, week-out. Look at Shelvey who went from Charlton to Liverpool - does he even play? completely forgotten about now. Same with Delph who left leeds for Villa. Ok i know all players are different but i truly believe he'd be slowing down his progress by moving now, I'm not mad enough to think we'll keep him forever but at least 18 more months isn't too much to ask is it? Good to see Jaidi score, thought he had a good game today, really strong up against their strike force which is pretty powerful. Hope we sign Chappers....he has so much energy and drive through he middle of the park and is too good for this level IMO, so we'd been picking up a complete gem. We really need to follow this up with a win against Exeter though, then we will really be cooking.
  16. Huddersfield will be kicking themselves - they've just lost at home 1-0 to Hartlepool, what a random league this is. Big game on Tuesday now.
  17. Looks like it's a case of D'urso strikes again. Possibly the most incompetent referee in the game.
  18. Interestingly, again, almost all L1 games are off. So the backlog is increasing for everyone, not just us. We should be able to cope with it better too.
  19. Nice one. I've forgotten what it's like to watch us play football. Are we any good? A ground of Charlton's stature should have been able to get the game on, really.....
  20. Interesting that Millwall are after him. Maybe they aren't planning on keeping Punch...?
  21. great weekend for us then really, nothing has changed in league terms. Exeter v Wednesday was the only game on....and Wednesday are losing that 3-1.
  22. I think it's just the normal ''new manager at club x, wants to raid former club for players''. Lazy, easy journalism if anything. We had it when Pard's came here, we were linked with all sorts of Charlton players of which none materialised. Signing L1 players isn't going to be sending a great signal to the Newcastle fans either.
  23. I doubt many games will go ahead this weekend, so we're not going to be left behind. The snow will cause problems for most areas but at this level frozen pitches will be a common theme.
  24. dear me
  25. A davis howler 0-1 brentford
