  1. Exactly how i knew he'd react - i think you'll find that with a high profile ''figure head'' as such, we'll be a much more attractive proposition to players. Why are Nott's county signing these good players, and players like Kasper on 5 year deals? It's not because of their manager, no disrespect to him...it's because of Sven. Having a highly thought of DoF in these levels of football seems to work really well.
  2. I think the main misguided comment is the fact that we need to spend £5m. Huddersfield have one of the best teams at this level - and how much has it cost them? they've spent just over 500k this year. - It's not about money, it's about the right management/tactics. - that will come in time once pard's learns what he has to work with.
  3. oh well, im sure i heard somewhere it was the most ever spent? maybe in ''Coca coca league 1'' years. but still....it's a stand out amount at this level.
  4. We are the first ever club to spend £1m on a single player in league 1 - if that isn't a signal of intent then i don't know what is. Jack Cork, Baird and Davies will not come here. They are lower half prem/top half champinship players - they will not come here. end of. Are you also seriously suggesting we replace Davis? Come on....that reduces any credibility this thread had in the first place. No one's squad is perfect....this league is utter utter ****e and the majority of players in our squad would WALK (yes WALK) into most teams in this division. We're not planning for an assault on the championship yet you know... We do not need this mass overhaul that people are saying...and why spend £5m? That's just wasting money at the moment. Play offs this season are a possibility with this squad and a couple of additions....and don't even consider relegation to league 2, i'd happily bet my job and my house on that fact - we will be in this league next season (or higher if the luck is with us)
  5. It is - spot on. If you listen on saints player, the exact words are ''im not sure if it's possible in time for tuesday, but i'd hope for 1 or 2 before brentford''
  6. they're having their plonkers pulled, left, right and centre. ...and it's great fun looking in and having a good old laugh.

  8. Just listened to that. was a great interview, i really like what he has to say - he's spot on with our failings and how a couple of our players respond to situations. He was pretty adamant in saying only 2 more signings - and that's it though, he did say there would be no more after he's brought in the 2 he wants. He said we already have too big a squad and he doesn't want to increase it. ...unfortunately it's a squad full of utter trash, such as Pulis.
  9. Good player, but another injury prone one im afraid. He was out for about 6 months in all last year (got injured 3 games into a loan spell at PNE). We've got enough of those....
  10. It really did sound like he's struggling to attract players. I remember the same interview where he said about 4 players? just after Lambert signed iirc. He wanted to get them in quickly as there's no time like the present.... We've either been out priced...or our excellent start to the season has set some alarm bells ringing for potential signings. - I'd still say it's too early to judge us though tbf!
  11. Heard Pard's on South today tonight....looked very downbeat ''We still need 1 or 2 players, but it's proving ever so hard. They probably wont be in time for Tuesday, but maybe before Saturday.''
  12. Stick James back at RB, no problems. The issue now though is - who the heck plays in RM? Im not sure Thompson is quite ready to start games, he sitll looks very raw
  13. ...''“There are new owners, a new executive chairman. All our previous debts have been paid off and we are able to operate as a business in good health once again,”'' Should make that a sticky...good read.

    Lee Holmes

I have heard (only whispers, nothing completely concrete) that Bristol Rovers want him and that's why he wasn't in the squad on Saturday, he's fit AFAIK - but looks like he'll be off. I agree with all you say though, it would be utter madness to sell him IMO. if there are players we need to get rid of from last years disaster, he'd be last on the list..
  15. I'd be more worried about Dr Who....
  16. Decent interview - but you can understand why they are keen to bring in a DoF role. I doubt Cortese really knows the English leagues, or the players we're tracking...so it's hard for him to make good judgments. I'd imagine a DoF will be in place sooner rather than later, he did say that in his first press release tbh.
  17. Ok - i skim read it and assumed that. my bad...
  18. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_5495695,00.html Don't think we've got a chance - looks like he wants to go back to Malta.
  19. I find it bizzare that Jackson is not guaranteed football at Colchester? He was their player of the season in the championship.......and wasn't too bad for them last season either. Something else must have gone on behind the scenes, he's good enough to start in most teams in this league. Still - i hope we can benefit from that
  20. Central midfield. Was looking up on him earlier and he wants out because Colchester cannot guarantee him a place in the team. Seems odd, as he was one of their better players last year.
  21. Are the two people connected to football in anyway? Seems odd, maybe we ''tried'' to get him..and were told to jog on? He played quite well for brum today tbf.
  22. I agree that we need improvements and reinforcements - and pard's will do that, he's not silly enough to expect this current squad to achieve our targets. We're lacking leaders down the spine and as i keep saying!!! pace down the flanks (and up front if im being picky). I think we're 3-4 players and 3-4 months from being a real force in this league.
  23. Interesting shout TBH - but i don't think it solves our real problem. I bet you that Saga will 90% of the time cut inside if he was played on the right...and he's not exactly the quickest. We need an urgent injection of pace in this team (on the right in particular )...and i hope pard's can see that.
  24. Can't agree with that Robbie. Our team is good enough to stay up - but it's not yet good enough to be competitive enough to challenge in the top end. Davis/Harding/Lambert/Morgan/Murts/Rasiak Thomas (maybe) - would walk into 90% of teams in this league...and im sure Gillet/Saga/Bart would make the starting line up in most... All we are lacking at the moment is a blend, the right blend. I'd agree and say that we need to drop Adam at the moment and bring him back into a confident team. If we bring in one of the midfielders and defenders we've been linked with...and add some width on the flanks, then we'll be able to challenge. We're not league 2 quality though.....we walked over Northampton without breaking sweat....
  25. Well he did well, only let in 4 goals Grimsby fans don't rate him.... http://www.thefishy.co.uk/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.pl?m-1250354173/ To think we took him as part of the early settlement to Bale's transfer. Makes me shudder how we were run before.
