  1. I'm sure there was an agreement in place between all parties, but after the club saw the reaction from the Chambers sale, and probably the reaction from Koeman they pulled it. I'm pretty certain that from his reaction ''6 years destroyed etc'' that something had been agreed, and we'd pulled the plug. That's how I see it.
  2. Lol @ Delph playing for England. The players on show out there wouldn't even be in the 'pool' of players 5/6 years ago. Ignoring how ineffective they were for England, there isn't anyone with the class and pedigree of Gerrard and Lampard anywhere near - which is sad. Beckham, Scholes, Owen, Neville, Cole, Rio, Campbell, Terry......at their time, leading players in world football. We don't have a single player who is leading in anything. Just decent, bog standard average players. Desperate stakes, and utterly depressing viewing.
  3. That's fantastic. Got to admire the ambition there! However, I think once he does a quick google of Basingstoke and looks at some pictures, he may have a few doubts ( ! )
  4. This was based on a report I read, but apparently Hull's offer was a £3m loan fee and they are also covering 100% of his wages. Would be a pretty impressive deal if that is it.
  5. Because it should have happened. Note the in my opinion bit at the end too.
  6. Pretty sure we're set for 4 at the back this year. Although personal wise, we're better equipped to execute it than Utd currently are.
  7. Newcastle are a funny one. Can look excellent one day, and get absolutely bulldozed by a team the next. Pardew is probably on dodgy ground there, to be honest - can't see him lasting the season, let's just hope they don't sack him during the international break.
  8. The PR stuff at the start was a bit of a contradictory mess, but the club learnt from it. Notably by rather quickly pulling Ralf away from it I think the whole setup was very naive at the start, nothing more sinister than that tbh. Right intentions, poorly executed.
  9. Or Saint George whathisname, suggesting he is the reason we didn't sell Morgan and Jay. If he hadn't have spoken up, god knows what would have happened. Forever in our debt.
  10. I'm pretty sure the only change will be Toby for Yoshida. The bench could look like this: Boruc, Mane, Gardos, Wanyama, Yoshida, Gallagher (if fit) That's a pretty handy bench, when you consider that Jay will be added to that sooner rather than later too. A bench of regular internationals, bar Gallagher (well, U21's)
  11. To be fair, Alpine hasn't had as much of a meltdown as others this summer. Not sure he's worth the tirade right now. Now, if we're going to start attacking people, where is Saint Richmond?
  12. What an awful article that is. How can Man Utd be classed as winners, yet Real Madrid classed as losers? What are they on about here? Man Utd signed a couple of 'sexy' players in positions they didn't need, and they still have the ****ty midfield and defence from last year. Winners indeed.
  13. Weren't we linked with Jonas earlier in the window?
  14. Would seem a bit of an unnecessary re-shuffle, if we assume that Fonte and Toby will be the ones forming a very strong partnership. Could be a good opportunity for Targett - you never know until you're given a chance, and as a club we've never bulked at the chance of blooding a youngster before!
  15. Check out the other clubs transfers thread, I posted the tweets and subsequent fan reaction. It's quite a giggle.
  16. I reckon it's probably 50/50, or 60/40. I hope he realises he's taking a drop if he joins us on a long-term deal...
  17. That's probably one of the considerations. Himself and Gaston grew up at the same club in Uruguay as well. (not sure you could call him Uruguay's top striker though!)
  18. Lol @ Leeds. Talk about our media team for trolling the fans, Leeds win the day I think Posted this tweet just before 11 last night: Which was then followed about 30mins later by 2 tweets regarding them selling 2 of their players. and then they ended it with this: Good old Leeds. Never fail to bring a laugh.
  19. We're pretty good to be honest! That side of the club has been top class for few years now, the people running that side of it are decent blokes to boot. Some of the videos that come out are brilliant, the one that sticks in my mind was the England call up video from last season. Pretty miserable viewing now, granted, but it was so well put together and so interesting to watch.
  20. Hmm, guess that means we'll lose Mane for a few months after Christmas for the ACON. Bit annoying. Luckily it's in the transfer window, so we can recruit if need be!
  21. Pace always causes problems. It frightens the life out of defenders when you have players running at you, so I'm confident he will add to us. It's something we probably haven't had since Jason left and we were crying out for someone like him last year in my opinion, as there were times when the tip tap around the penalty box wasn't actually going to do anything.
  22. Of course there was, but not as much as plenty of others. It's very easy to get emotionally carried away with it, as all we saw were player after player going. The turning point for me personally was the appointment of Koeman. I don't think any of us had a real idea about what was going to happen at the start and there was some criticism at the start, but I guess we all just needed to show a bit of patience and a bit of perspective. As the summer went on, it was clear that everything was actually fine. A bit of crappy PR here and there which didn't help things (especially when we had no manager) but somehow the club have pulled out a last minute equaliser at the death on deadline day. Credit for that.
  23. Not trying to point score. Just not happy with the foundation NC laid, that's all. Not going to say any more on it! This is a fresh start now.
  24. When has he ever looked like having a run in any side? That's the problem. Promises so much, yet I think it's more likely that he will be out with knocks and niggles most weeks. Either way though, it's a win-win for us. We could get a player back next year who has finally settled in the PL, made a big impact. We can either sell him for more than we would have got this summer, or retain him to improve our options. And I think a £3m loan fee is a bit of a wtf deal. Sevilla were offering that as a transfer fee!
  25. It was all about actions, which they produced at the end of the day, pretty emphatically it has to be said. Their stance on Jay and especially Morgan was commendable. They'll probably go eventually, but it re-asserted ourselves in the market when it seemed as if we were easy pickings.
