There are different types of January transfer to be honest. The pure panic signings, who have barley been scouted but their availability has been shared....and the players who have been heavily tracked and monitored for a period of time and the club decides to make the move. I like to think we fall in the later!
-
Agreed. They probably will next year if we don't make it, to be honest. All 3 are CL quality players, easy. I think we've got a really good squad actually, despite what some say in terms of not having enough. Real CL quality through the spine and talent such as Mane and Elia who are full of life. Although you'd say we are short up top, i think we have options and alternatives should Pelle not be available. I think securing a number 10 type is more important. Lets get Elia/Mane/Tadic involved in the right areas.

MLG has been owned. Even I knew what that meant.
-
Yeah it's fair to think that, it's for sure an outside chance - but there's a very real chance it could happen, given the amount of games left and where we are. Those 2 games are exciting. Really looking forward to them.
-
Given that we're still 4th in February you'd have to say we have a chance, it's not really in the ''no chance, we really won't'' territory just yet.

It's been like that for a couple of seasons, I think it's just a case of this equipment (heart monitors I think) was purchased with loads of branding slapped over it. They obviously don't want to replace the expensive kit, so just cover up the branding. Fair enough. And why is Morgan in those pictures? Doesn't he realise he should be at Arsenal? He's not got long, especially with rush hour coming up.

A Juventus fan trolling on a Saints forum. I never thought I'd see the day.

Has the loan been terminated? Or is he just set to sit in limbo with Inter for the rest of the season? Rather that than have him clog up the wage bill here.
-
Wouldn't pay much attention to SSN. They're just desperate for a story, stuff which isn't close will be ramped up. They're basing the fact that signings will happen because they happend last year. Dull.

Which is really bad form to be honest.

Yeah, he should have kept those comments to himself really. He should have showed a bit more respect to Feyenoord I think, especially considering the time he had there.

Yes, this is true. We try one too many passes, or go backwards and sideways. We lack someone to put a ball in quickly, or to thread one through quickly. Pelle is always available, always in the right positions, but the service to him for the last month or so has been pretty pathetic it has to be said. Tadic has gone off his game, he only needed a yard and he'd whip one in, but now he seems to never beat the first man - but teams are getting tighter to him I've noticed. I know it won't happen, but a Wesley Snidjer type is exactly what we could do with. Someone in that number 10 role with a range of passing and an eye for a pass. We've got people like Mane, Elia, Long, Tadic etc who are more suited to the wide area's or playing on the shoulder. JWP has been tried in that position and has looked ok, but I think we lack a pure number 10 type. Our trouble recently is breaking sides down. Lots of possession is all well and good, but when you have no shots on target then it's pretty pointless and just illustrates the sideways/backwards way of our game right now. Not sure about this Filip guy, but maybe he's being lined up for that number 10 role. We've got the pace and the movement up front, now we just need to find it a hell of a lot quicker and more accurately than we have been.

Next weekend could be interesting. Could find ourselves with a bit of a cushion again potentially. You've also got the added Europa games starting shortly, so Spurs and Liverpool will feel that a bit I'm sure.

How long will sky flog this dead horse for, pointless. They're getting exclusive updates from clubs to tell them that there will be no business, yet they're going to stick around as they have done deadline day stuff in the past. Jeez. Clutching. BT Sport seem to have a better idea, 3/4 hour show in the evening of deadline day. Job done.
-
Slip up's happen to anyone and everyone. The teams in and around us will not win all of their matches, it just won't happen. Wait until the fixtures pile up with all the European games etc. Today was a tad frustrating, but the performance (for 60 mins at least) was there. Still lots to fight for and lots to be positive about. The fact we're even talking about this being a possibility is extraordinary. Let's just enjoy where we are whilst we can, in football you never know what's around the corner.

Talented player, but as has been said before, he struggles to impact tight games. Lots of sideways, backwards stuff - nice and tidy, but he needs to influence things a lot more from the position he's playing. He started to do this by playing that No.10 role and floating around, but in games like today you see that he's still not quite the finished product. He's got it all in his locker, but just needs to take control of games like today a bit more.

How didn't we beat this lot at their place? Aston Villa are a joke side. Don't score, don't create chances, don't play good football, conceed lots of goals and lose lots of games. What a pointless team to support. Feel for their fans.

I wasn't aware he'd signed a 10 year contract.

Saints Sign Filip Djuricic on loan from Benfica
S-Clarke replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Because he's on loan at Mainz from Benfica. -
But he wants games now, that's the thing. At the moment, no one can say that he deserves to be in front of Morgan, Wanyama and Davis - no chance. So when they're fit, they will start, every, single week. No arguments. We offered him a contract, so we haven't just flogged him off as some are suggesting. We wanted to keep him, but he wanted regular first team football - Now. Not in 6 months, not in 12 months...he wanted it now, and you have to respect that. There is absolutely nothing we could have done, apart from starting him in front of Morgan/Wanyama or Davis - which wouldn't have gone down well anywhere.
-
Cheers for posting, good to hear from you guys. We have a few Feyenoord fans on here now! Out of interest - what are your views on Tonny as a player?
-
I think we need to have a bit of luck for sure. If we can get toby, morgan and Victor back quickly...and keep them going, then I think we have a good a chance as any. Also vital that Pelle stays fit, although if the worst does happen...I can imagine us playing Mane through the middle, or even Elia who has been known to play there. We do have alternative options if Pelle isn't available, just not a ''Pelle'' type replacement. I think we're well stocked. Will be interesting to see if we bring any more in.

To be honest, it's a real shame to lose him. I'm a big fan and think he's a valuable member of the squad - but that's the key thing here. I wouldn't say he's a first team player when everyone is fit, Morgan/Wanyama/Davis/JWP are all ahead of him right now - there's no denying that, and I think it's fair they're ahead of him as well. Midfield is one area where we have been incredibly well stocked for a good few years, and whilst it's a shame to lose him, the core quality of the side isn't reduced. Especially if we're adding the guy from Holland to replace him. But we obviously want to keep Cork in a squad position, we said as much to him and offered him a good deal - but he has decided to pursue first team, weekly football - that's fair enough, you can't begrudge him that. Whilst it's a shame we lose a valuable and talented squad player, you need to respect that he wants to play football rather than sit around waiting. Top bloke, been a top player for us - can only wish him the best.

Of Vilhena he said: “We are interested in the player because that player is not happy in Feyenoord. “He likes to play more and is interested in changing the club. “I like the player, I believe in the qualities of the player, he’s a young player who is 20-years-old. “It’s one of the philosophies of the club to have young players and if I can help the player I like to do it.”

How does he keep getting decent gigs at these mega European clubs? He's not even that good.
