He will be impossible to replace, but he's given us some of our best ever days in recent years. I don't think you can hold the move against him, he's an outstanding player and has been nothing short of excellent for us. Given his all whenever he played, £1m will never ever be better spent.

He could not have given or done more for us. Finishing his career at his home town club is a nice ending for him, I think we all owe him that.

Sorry for passing on what I heard, and I'm sorry it's not positive, shiny and sparkly. We should not be getting rid of Fonte and we should be signing him up long-term. There is no next level for us to move to, so we need to retain players like Fonte and Cork - they are more than good enough for us and where we are.

Koeman or Moyes IMO, either of those, in these circumstances, would at least steady the ship and show a bit of ambition.

That video does test the emotions a bit! He's been involved in every good bit of this club for 5 years, the best period in my lifetime. He was more than just a striker....he kind of signified the entire era, the pin up boy of the journey. I guess it's now time for us to start another journey, but we'll do very well to find anyone who has anywhere near the same sort of impact as Lambo over 5 years.
